Perthshire Canine Club-28th September 2019

Many thanks to the committee for inviting me to judge at this lovely show. A super entry kept me very busy and many thanks to the exhibitors for bringing your fabulous dogs and to my steward who kept things running very smoothly.

Spaniel (Cocker)

P(1,1)

J(5,2) 1. Clelland and Platt’s Charbonel Time’N’Tide. 17 mth old blue roan dog. A pleasing outline with a strong compact body. Masculine head and the kindest of expressions. He had a super front assembly and well off for bone. Deep in chest, good ribbing and bend of stifle. Really liked him on the move which he did with lots of enthusiasm. Considered him for BOB but preferred the head of the Open winner. 2. Duncan’s Kenwad Black Tulip of Dunherl. 18 mth old black bitch. Liked her feminine head of correct proportions. She had a straight front with good bone, deep in chest and a level topline. Moved well but just preferred movement of 1 today. 3. McCluskie’s Kenwad Chico. 

PG(4,3) 1. Duncan’s Kenwad Guchi Boo of Dunherl. 2 ½ yr old blue roan bitch. Pretty head and lovely expression. Deep chest to brisket and compact in body. Level topline into correct tailset. Moved well around the ring.

O(4,2) 1. Murray’s Snowgate Starstruck. 2 yr old blue roan dog. Really liked this super boy with a balanced outline. Correct head proportions with a square muzzle, and an intelligent kind eye. Straight front and good bone. Moderate neck into good shoulders and a compact body. A lovely mover and very true on the move, wagging his tail around the ring. BOB and G1. 2. Neatham’s Shoogsea Peach Streisand VW. 8 yr old orange roan bitch. In super condition and belies her age. Beautiful head and ear with correct proportions. Good angulation fore and aft, level topline and compact body. Moved well around the ring.

Irish Setter

O(3,1) 1. Sturrock’s Forfarian Soo Lush JW 16 mth old bitch. Lovely balanced outline. Feminine head and dark kind eye. Straight forelegs and good feet. Clean moderate neck into well laid back shoulders, which flows into a gently sloping topline. Balanced angulation throughout. Loved her exuberance, and lovely side profile movement when she got it together. BOB. 2. Green’s Braidmount Dreamed A Dream for Glencarron. 2 yr old bitch. Another with a balanced outline. Feminine head and kind expression. Preferred the front of 1. Good bone and pleasing angulation fore and aft. Moved ok. 

Retriever (Labrador)

PG(4,1) 1. Larsen and Berry’s Exelby Neath. 14 mth old yellow dog. Balanced outline on this strongly built boy. Correct head with broad skull, kind intelligent expression and correct set of ear. Good angulation fore and aft, clean neck, level topline, well sprung ribs and short coupled. Never stopped wagging his tail and moved well around the ring with a free stride. BOB. 2. Longland’s Rocheby Mischief. 2yd old yellow bitch. Another lovely outline. Just preferred the head of 1. Pleasing angulation throughout, level topline and hocks well let down. Moved ok. 3. Rooney’s Taraloch Black Knight.

O(4,1) 1. Larsen and Berry’s Exelby Neath. As 1 in PG. 2. Rooney’s Frewlings First Report for Taraloch. 4yr old black bitch. Liked her for her pleasing outline and head proportions with broad skull and kind expression. Good front assembly, level topline. Moved well. 3. Longland’s Rocheby Mischief.

GSP

PG(2) 1. Murray’s Winterwell Whakapapa with Worlewood. 12 mth old dog. Masculine head with correct proportions. Good depth to muzzle and correct set of ear. Still a baby and just needs time to fill in chest but has a good strong muscular body and is short in back. Correct topline and tailset. Had a good smooth profile movement. 2. Wilkinson’s Zarozinia Sidh Chailleann. 18 mth old bitch. She had the most beautiful head and expression, good proportions, ear and eye. She needs time to mature and body up as she is currently quite leggy and her chest needs to drop to brisket. Preferred the body proportions of 1. Very well muscled and moved ok.

O(1) 1. Angus’s Barleyarch Lismore via Calmerell. 2 yr old dog. Lovely typical and classic outline. Super head with excellent proportions with good depth to muzzle and gradual rise in nasal bone. Clean in neck which flows into a good topline, he has depth in chest, a short back and a firm strong loin. Stifles well bent which drove him around the ring. BOB.

Italian Spinone

O(2,1) 1. Mackay and Mackay’s Feriiia Jacomelo. 5 yr old brown roan male. Masculine head with the kindest of expressions, spongy big nose with correct head planes. Straight forelegs and well off for bone. Deep in chest to brisket, good front and rear angulation. He had a powerful side gait with good reach and drive. BOB.

Gordon Setter

PG(3,1) 1. Miller’s Rhum Night Legend ShCM. 5yr old dog. Really liked the balanced outline of this mature dog. Beautiful masculine head, slightly rounded skull, large nose and correct set of ear. Straight forelegs, good bone and clean long neck into well laid back shoulders and level topline. Moved well with drive. 2. Millar and Scobie’s Yennadon Calvay. 10 mth old dog. A real baby in this class but lots to like. Pleasing head with a kind expression. Straight front and overall good front assembly. Just needs to time to finish off now. 

O(5,2) 1. Millar’s Yennadon Benriach JW. 2 ½ yr old D. Liked his balanced outline and super head with correct proportions with a well defined stop. Clean long neck into well laid back shoulders, deep chest to brisket and ribs well sprung. Good rear angulation and bend of stifle. Moved really well on a nice steady and free flowing gait. Pipped the PG winner to BOB on his movement and also G4. 2. Bennett’s Capledrae Spirit With A Dash. 2 yr old bitch. Lean in head with plenty of brain room and a slightly rounded skull, well defined stop and good ear set. Level topline and pleasing spring of rib. Moved well. 3. Miller’s Brookes Shadow Mover.

Spaniel (Welsh Springer)

O(1) 1. Tyler’s Tammano Teal at Eiriandylis. 15 ½ mth old bitch. Thought she was lovely, such a balanced outline and a very pretty well proportioned head with a melting expression. Long clean neck into well laid back shoulders, deep chest and good spring to rib. Moved very well with ground covering action. BOB and G3.

Retriever (Flat Coated)

PG(3,2) 1. Thorpe’s Montreathmnt Hotlips. 18 mth old bitch. Classic in outline and with a long feminine head. Good front assembly with straight forelegs, clean neck and deep chest. Flowing outline and profile movement.

O(3) 1. Laird’s Seaheart Archibald of Daicheil ShCM. 6 yr old dog. Loved his balanced outline and superb head and expression. Straight forelegs and well arched feet. Really nice shoulder and upper arm angulation, chest deep and well ribbed body with a gradual spring and a moderate bend of stifle. Moved well around the ring always wagging his tail. BOB. 2. Thorpe’s Candidacasa Porsche at Montreathmnt. 5 yr old bitch. Liked her for well proportioned head and expression. Good angulation fore and aft and well bodied. Moved well. 3. McDonald and McDonald’s Steelriver Dance In The Sun at Skyloch.

Retriever (Golden)

PG(6,2) 1. Laidlaw and McShane’s Fhairmhor Haud Yer Wheesht at Rigerin 17 mth old dog. Liked this dog for his balanced outline. Correct head proportions and a kind expression. Good bone and cat like feet, clean neck with balanced angulation fore and aft. Ribs well sprung and a level topline. Moved out on an effortless stride. Pipped the open winner on movement to BOB and G2.       2. Cullen’s Rigerin Barnyard Dawg at Auchinbreck. 22 mth old dog. Classic balanced outline, lovely masculine head and correct ear. Straight forelegs and cat like feet. Correct topline and tail set. Moved well. 3. Raymond and Younie’s Glenrioch Storm Trooper. 

O(4,1) 1. Raymond and Younie’s Largymore Live To Love You ShCM. 5 yr old dog. Loved his well proportioned outline and balance. Beautiful well proportioned head. Clean neck into well laid back shoulders and overall good angulation. Level topline and good ribbing. Moved really well. 2. McAleese’s Lochtaymor Murraymint for Glormhorcu. 7yr old dog. Masculine correct head, kind expression. Good front assembly with legs well under the body. Level topline and well bent stifles, moved well. 3. McAleese’s Lochtaymor The Plainsman at Glormhorcu.

Hungarian Vizsla

O(2,1) 1. Findlay’s Fenseges Va Va Voom. 23 mth old bitch. A medium sized balanced girl with a very pleasing outline. Feminine head with good proportions, median line and correct ears. Would prefer a little less width in her front. Well ribbed and correct amount of tuck up. Moderate angulation throughout. Had lovely profile movement. BOB.

AVNSC Gundog

PG(3,2) 1. Findlay’s Chamelia Lagertha. Pointer. 13 mth old O/W bitch. A nice youngster but still needs time to fill her frame. Sweet expression, correctly proportioned head with well defined stop. Balanced in outline made up of graceful curves. Lashing tail on the move with good rear drive.

O(2) 1. MacKay and Mackay’s Fleurfield Steals The Dream ShCM. Pointer. 5 yr old O/W dog. He had a nice flowing balanced outline. Classic head with good proportions and correct stop. Clean long muscular neck flowing into shoulders and topline. Ribbing well back to strong muscular loin. Moved well on free stride around the ring lashing his tail as he went. BOB. 2. Watsons’s Fitzrovia Islay Malt. HWV. 2 yr old dog. Nicely balanced boy but a bit on the bigger side for me. Well proportioned head with moderate stop. Forelegs straight and strong and good front angulation. Correct body proportions with a level topline and rounded off towards the tail. Good harsh coat. Moved ok.

Special Minor Puppy(2,1) 1. Cochrane’s Rigerin Daydreaming of Rombils Golden Retriever. 8 mth old bitch. Just loved this puppy and must have a bright future. Such a kind expression on a nicely balanced head with dark eye rims and a black nose. Straight forelegs with legs placed well under the body. Deep in chest and level topline. Moved very true on a free stride. Delighted to see she was Best Special Minor Puppy in Show.

Special Puppy(4,2) 1. Johnston’s Wansleydale Beguiled. English Setter. 10 mth old tricolour dog. A very nice boy, he is clean and balanced in outline. Well proportioned in head with plenty of brain room, well defined stop, occiput and moderately deep in muzzle. Straight forelegs, round bone, well arched toes and overall good front assembly. Widely sprung ribs, strong in loin, well bent stifles and correct tail set. Good free movement when he settled. 2. Millar and Scobie’s Yennadon Calvay. Gordon Setter.

G(11,4) 1. Sturrock’s Forfarian Soo Lush JW. Irish Setter. 2. Findlay’s Fenseges Va Va Voom. HV. 3. Younie and Younie’s Moloko Eezee Tiger. Golden Retriever.

O(5,3) 1. MacKay and Mackay’s Fleurfield Steals The Dream ShCM. Pointer. 2. Thorpe’s Candidacasa Porsche at Montreathmnt. Flat Coated Retriever.

Special Veteran(9,2) 1. Cullen’s Orkhatos Lucas at Auchinbreck ShCM. Flat Coated Retriever. 8 ½ yr old dog. Classic flowing outline. Loved his correct head and kind eye. Really nice front assembly with straight front and good bone. Well ribbed up in body and a moderate bend of stifle. Lovely free flowing movement. Best Special Veteran. 2. Neatham’s Shoogsea Peach Streisand VW. Cocker Spaniel. 3. McAleese’s Lochtaymor The Plainsman at Glormhorcu. Golden Retriever.
