Horley & District Open Show

25/08/19

Thanks to the Officers and Committee of Horley & District Show Society for the invitation to judge BIS. It is always an honour to be invited to judge, but even more special to award the top spot at a local Society and one that I have attended for many years. After a brief break last year, it was great to see Horley back on the South East calendar with some new Committee and new Acting Secretary, Mrs Sandie Tadd. A lovely atmosphere, well organised and plenty of consideration to the welfare of dogs and exhibitors on what was an extremely hot day made for an appointment to remember. Good luck for the future.

BIS was the Pointer, Medogold Bamalam At Heartbury. A really classy bitch that has the added advantage of a talented handler that allows her virtues shine. Clean outline, feminine, shapely head and excellent conformation. Covered the ground with great ease and freedom and went up a gear when it counted. Just asked for the top spot… and got it! RBIS was the Newfoundland, Zentaur Ain’t No Thang. Loved this one when she took BPIS under me at an Open show at this venue a couple of years ago. Still relatively young but such quality and discovered after judging she has newly gained her crown…just great! Feminine but substantial, typical head and softest of expressions. Soundly constructed with good bone. Her beautifully presented black coat gleaming in the late afternoon sunshine. Another excellent mover and a worthy runner-up. BPIS a most promising WHWT pup, Thozow Master Of The House. Sparky attitude with a super head piece developing. Neat ears, good eye and pigment. Short backed, good conformation and coat. Moved out with style and conviction. Well presented and handled. RBPIS and close-up was the sweet, feminine Affenpinscher bitch, Jonevelyn Ailsa Bay. Just 9 months old and must have a great future ahead of her. Good to go over on the table. Delightful head and expression and sound on the move. In good coat and showing her little heart out. Quite captivated by her! BVIS the German Spitz (Mittel) Ch. Spellcast Talk To Da Tail. Approaching 8 years old but totally belying her age. Carries her Ch. title, not surprised, a real quality show girl. Good for type and size, liked her outline, conformation and carries her well set tail correctly at all times. In immaculate coat and condition. Showing to best advantage by another talented handler.

AV Junior (24) 1st Clanwillow Centenary Hope. 10 month old Basset bitch. Good outline, body and bone. Pleasing head, eye and ears. Carries herself well on the move. Sound and driving well off firm hocks. Correct tail set and carriage.

2nd Zefathers Sweet Child O Mine. Great Dane. Mature and well grown for her age. Lovely head, firm body and good bone. Excellent conformation. Moved very well, just a bit unsettled.

3rd Delandmar Great Garbo. Min S/H Dachshund.

AV Open (24) 1st Knattings Riverdance To Kensing. Pleasing young Tibetan Spaniel. Lovely head, good eye shape and colour giving a soft expression. Plush muzzle and tidy bite. Moderate neck, good topline, body and bone. Good angles both ends and a high set and carried tail. In his summer clothes but that dosen’t detract from his overall quality.

2nd Pytchley Chasing The Dream For Hookwood. Close-up here. Smart Pointer dog. Masculine with a touch of elegance. Excellent conformation. Made the most of the ring, covering the ground with a lengthy stride and absolutely sound in all directions.

3rd Barham’s Kenwardgold Minnie Me. Pointer.

Horley AV Junior Stakes (34) 1st Blandings Eyes On The Prize. Well named Whippet bitch. Feminine, with a curvy, graceful outline. Like her size, stands on tight feet. Super head and typical outlook. Excellent mover, just feeling the heat at times. That said, a worthy winner of a strong class.

2nd Z Sweet Child O M. Gt. Dane.

3rd Tyrbechgyn Believe You Will At Canemamans. Bracco Italiano.

Horley AV Open Stakes (35) 1st Nelgus Thyme Bomb. Typey, masculine Basset that I have done well in the past as a youngster. Approaching full maturity and looked the part today. Super head, good length and well balanced. Clean eye, good ear set and length. Strong neck, deep chest. Excellent outline. Good bone. Moved out well with plenty of drive and carrying his tail correctly. Excellent presentation. Hope he gains his crown.

2nd K Riverdance To K. Tibetan Spaniel.

3rd Carnlochan Morning Star. Hun. Vizsla.

AV Champion (13) 1st Foster’s Ch. Hillstead Masquerade At Thozow. Cracking 4 year old WHWT. Loved him as a pup and so good to see him again carrying his well-deserved title. Typical head, short, square muzzle. Dark, sparkling eyes. Scissor bite. Small, well set ears. Good reach of neck. Balanced angles. Good tail. Crisp coat, immaculately prepared. Moved out well.

2nd Ch. Lisjovia Boris Bear At Darmaror. Strong, imposing PMD who catches the eye. Pleasing in many aspects. Good outline and impressive both on the stack and on the move. Moderately angled, strong bone and stands on functional feet. In good coat, immaculately presented.

3rd Ch. Hisilome’s Kareef. Saluki.
