Home Counties Cocker Spaniel Club – Special Awards

Thank you to Home Counties Cocker Spaniel Club for the invitation to judge the Special Awards. I had a really lovely day and some nice dogs to go over. Thanks also to my stewards for all the help they gave me, it was much appreciated.

Special Award puppy dog or bitch

(6,1a) 1 Reed, Mrs S & Miss L. Reemif I Did It My Way – 11 month old b/r bitch, lovely head and eye with a nice length of neck. Good lay of shoulder and a nice deep chest, standing on good bone with neat well-padded feet. Nicely sprung ribs and short in her loin she is lovely and cobby. Her rear end is well muscled with a good width of second thigh and bend of stifle. She used her short hocks to aid her movement around the ring helping take this class.

2 Pretty, Miss J. J. Lenrones’s Lets Twist Again – 7 month old l/r bitch. Needs time to mature but she is deep throughout with nicely sprung ribs. Her good rear angulation gave to her lovely movement and all the enthusiasm of a happy puppy. I really liked her and will watch with interest as she matures.

3 Hill, Mrs H. Princehill Shining Star

Special Award Post Graduate dog or bitch

(10,4a) 1 West, Mrs C A. Sheigra Simply A Star JW – 20 month old black bitch of a lovely type. Her soft feminine head and lovely dark eye pulls you in. She stands on ample bone and substance throughout and is short in her back with a nicely muscled rear. She moved with drive around the ring and I think her owner did well to keep up with her enthusiasm!

2 Ward, Mrs B M. Pearkim Persephone At Wensum – 21 month old o/r bitch, another lovely bitch with a nice head and eye leading into a good neck and shoulders. Her body is compact and square with a super spring of rib, her short hocks and well-muscled thighs allowed to her move well around the ring. She just lacked the edge of 1 today.

3 Hutson, Mrs S J. Stobytill Hippy Hippy Shake JW

Special Award Open dog or bitch

(5) 1 Ward, Mrs B M. Wensum Jameson’s On Ice – Black dog whose shape I really loved. He was so short, cobby and well-muscled throughout. He had lovely head, neck and shoulders with good bone and depth of body. His ribs were nicely sprung and he held his topline on the move aided by his nicely angulated rear, short hocks and wagging tail.

2 West, Mrs C A. Sheigra Stars In Her Eyes JW – Another lovely black bitch, I really liked her head and eye. She has a super length of neck into lovely shoulders, she is deep throughout and short in her body. Her backend is well muscled with good angulation allowing her to move well around the ring. She was presented in a lovely condition.
