Welsh Beagle Club

Beagles - I would like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge their 50th Anniversary Open Show and I would also like to thank the exhibitors for bringing me some lovely hounds for me to go over. I had some difficult decisions to make in some classes and with the top honours. A special thanks to my stewards who kept the day flowing nicely.

MPD (2) 1. Wenman’s Seiont Ifan Sir Romeo 6mth blanket tri dog nicely shaped youngster with good length of neck going onto level topline held throughout. Showing good rear angulation and standing on nice tight feet. Would like to see a slightly stronger head which may come through with maturity. Moved OK. 2. Quinny-Spencer’s Quincerhound Oreo Bark another nice blanket tri of 6mths with similar remarks as 1, I found this one with a better front but he was very unsettled on the day which was a shame as I do feel these two could swop places on a regular basis. Two nice youngsters to start my days judging. PD (1) 1. Richmond’s Canowinda Invictus, quite a raw puppy of 10mths, good bone on this youngster with a lovely soft expression, he has a lovely reach of neck going onto good strong shoulders, slightly longer mould than the MPD, again a little unsettled but a promising youngster when he comes together. Nice profile movement. BPD. JD (3) 1 Evans Bellvalley Mccnicol, 17mths tri dog with good head, neck and shoulders, well off for bone. Good strong topline held at all times, would like to see more rear angulation. Moved Well. 2. Davies Barrvale Ganymede, 17mths open marked tri, very close decision between these two preferred the front movement of 1, lovely shaped head on this dog with a good reach of neck, nice angulations throughout, good reach and drive in profile. 3. Nash’s Kelseva All Or Nothing. ND (3) 1. Taylor’s Deaconfield Kingcraft, have admired this boy from the ringside and I do feel he is overlooked at times, very smart compact boy with lovely bone, good strong shoulders and rear quarters to which he uses to stride round the ring with ease. He is a pleasure to go over and a lovely sound mover. Pushed really hard for BD would just like a slightly stronger head and cleaner forechest but certainly one to watch for the future. RBD. GD (3) 1. Taylor’s Deaconfield Kingcraft 2. Davies Barrvale Ganymede 3. Warren & Thomas Ospreagle Stop The Press at Hilbeaglin.  PGD (3,1) Bradley & Richmond’s Dufosee Yardbird at Canowindra, solid TNW dog all male with a soft expression, good angulation front and back, well ribbed back, moved well in profile and going away just thought slightly wide infront today. 2. Ryan’s Awreridge Waterbook , tri dog longer mould than one, good length of neck standing on nice tight feet, moved ok. LD (1) 1. Wenman’s Wenannou Scirocco, smart tri finer mould than I prefer but showing good movement throughout with good level topline, nice reach of neck. OD (7,1) 1. May’s Janfrey Bosley, another dog I have admired from the ringside and catches your eye as soon as he enters the ring, lovely head all male but with soft expression, correct length of neck going onto good shoulders, nice short compact body with solid hind quarters which he uses to his advantage round the ring. Sound coming and going today. Delighted to award him BD & RBIS. 2. Philips & Keyte’s Lansend Segenhoe JW SHCM, judged this dog before same points still stand, tri masculine compact dog, lovely sound movement and could work all day, very happy lad and enjoyed his day out. Shame to meet one in such good form. 3. Kingsland’s Redcap Patriot. VD (4) 1. Davies CH Barrvale Overture, a worthy champion, I could watch his profile movement all day he shows such wonderful reach and drive, still has good muscle tone throughout and good angulations. Shown in lovely condition. A joy to judge. BVD. 2. Nash’s Kelseva Greatest Day, another lovely veteran to go over, smart open marked tri, same points apply above but just loved the profile movement of 1. 3. Roderick’s Baterhound Garrison. PB (2,1) 1. Breeze’s Dufosee Dragonfly of Parkbreeway, stood alone but a worthy winner, balanced head with good width and well-defined stop going onto lovely reach of neck, good shoulder angulation with nice round bone, a level topline held on the move with the body filling out nicely, strong hind quarters for one so young which were used to advantage around the ring, true coming and going, a lovely sound bitch. Could not deny her BPB and BPIS. My find of the day. JB (8) 1. Davies Barrvale Grace, smart open tri with feminine head of correct length and shape, maturing nicely, ample bone for a bitch and neat angulations throughout, preferred her rear movement. 2. Evans Bellvalley Ruffian, tnw bitch showing good substance, nice dark eye and well pigmented, good shoulder placement and good round bone, level topline held, sound balanced mover in profile. 3. Lennard’s Butterow Rumba NB (8,4) 1. Taylor’s Deaconfield Keepsake, another nice compact tnw with room to mature, loved her feminine head with good pigmentation, good shoulder placement with solid front, lovely balanced bitch with level topline, pushed hard for RBB, just lost out on maturity. 2. Nash’s Kelseva Legally Blonde, tnw bitch longer mould than one, correct front and well angulated, standing on nice tight feet, moved ok but carrying a bit too much weight which made her look a bit stuffy around the neck today. 3. Roderick’s Baterhound Princess. GB (7) 1. Taylor’s Deaconfield Keepsake. 2. Davies Barrvale Grace. 3. Cornnell Bellvalley Annabell from Bronllys. PGB (4) 1. Wenman’s Wenannou Mystique, fade tri finer mould than I liked but best mover of the class, lovely length of neck, good spring of rib and well laid back, in muscular condition and presented well. 2. Bradley’s Dufose Starshine open marked tri, good type and overall balance, lovely feminine head with soft expression, nice bone and in good condition, would just like to see her move out more which I’m sure she would produce in a larger ring. 3. Anthony’s Ospreagle Jamaica Me Crazy. LB (11,2) 1. Brown’s Raimex Reed Bunting JW, smart outline on this open marked bitch, catchs your when entering the ring, free standing allowing her to show lovely angulations throughout, nice tight feet and shown in lovely condition, moved out well in profile when got going. 2. Ambridge Tiger Lilly Blossom, judge this bitch a few years ago and same remarks apply, again shown in good clean condition, would like to see more drive from her. 3. Roderick’s Barterhound Gossip. OB (7,2) 1. Wenman’s Dialynne Miss Brody, another bitch handled well to advantage, very well presented and in lovely condition, lovely front and rear angulations, moved out soundly and in profile. Shame to meet veteran in such sound fettle today. RBB. 2. Bradley’s Dufosee Northern Star, a sound compact bitch with a melting expression, again shown in lovely condition, everything in the correct place, great level topline held at all times but do feel this is another bitch which would prefer the bigger ring. 3. Taylor’s Deaconfield Innocence. VB (12,2) 1. Brown’s Raimax Rowenberry JW, loved her when I judged her last time and still do, not showing her age in condition and movement, enjoyed going over her again and her movement, lovely outline and breed type, nice clean shoulders with good depth of chest, ribs well back, well-muscled rear quarters allowing her to drive round the ring with ease. I could not deny her BB, BIS and BVIS. 2. Phillips Brialeu Tu Tira for Lanesend (Imp Aus), another lovely veteran in fine form, shorter mould than one but in great condition, she absolutely enjoyed her day out and moved with such enthusiasm, pushed hard for 1st place today just like the overall balanced look of one today but can see these two swopping places. 3. Conways Baterhound Begonia at Bedeway, finishing of 3 lovely veterans to judge.
