Many thanks to the Secretary and committee of Guildford & DCS for inviting me to judge at this well run and very friendly show, and thank you to my hard working steward. 

 

BEST IN SHOW -  Cassidy’s Cocker Spaniel Manchela Hugo Boss JW Sh CM A very merry boy who  just oozes quality! Presented in good coat. He has a lovely head with clearly defined stop, square muzzle and strong under jaw, full eyes giving such a kind expression. Strong neck running into well laid shoulders, deep chest with good fore chest and well carried back ribs, level topline with great tailset, strong hindquarters which he uses so well! His movement was effortless and sound.  

RES. BEST IN SHOW -  Short’s Tibetan Terrier Araki Turn Back Time At Parkmist Sh CM. Eye catching dog of correct size and in fabulous luxurious coat that was immaculately presented. Masculine head without coarseness, oval expressive eyes and a black nose. Balanced body proportions with strong hindquarters which he uses to advantage on the move. Fluid movement with positive footfall and a super head carriage. 

 

BEST PUPPY IN SHOW -  Springford’s Wheaten Terrier Keevasdream White Line. Very confident young lady that has a compact balance and outline. Pretty girl with well-proportioned head a kind intelligent eye, well defined stop and ‘V’ shaped folded ears. Strong neck leading to well placed shoulders, level topline and short in couplings. Free movement showing excellent reach and drive and holds her topline level. In super coat and very well handled and presented. 

RES. BEST PUPPY IN SHOW -  Strudwick’s Flatcoated Retriever Flatcharm Miss Lotsa Love for Burpham. Loved this girl’s attitude and ring presence, she exuded real character! Well presented in gleaming coat, long well moulded head with truly expressive eyes, well set ears. Well ribbed back  with a short strong loin. Strong hindquarters which she uses so well, Moves fluidly showing reach and drive and holding her topline throughout. 

 

Gundog Group. 

 

Group 1  Cassidy’s Manchela Hugo Boss JW Sh CM  Cocker Spaniel, He took my eye as soon as he came into the ring with his merry attitude.  He looked a picture stacked and on the move he  covered the ground with ease, keeping a good topline and strong rear movement. 

Group 2 Evans’s Yorkham Rocking Rudolph. Sussex Spaniel. Top class dog in excellent coat and condition, lovely head and expression. He really comes into his own on the move with his strong hindquarters and lovely outline, such a super temperament, he puts everything in for his handler. 

Group 3 Braine’s  Grenetrest Canterbury Bell  JW  GSP.  Masculine with a lovely clean outline. Balanced head with dark expressive eyes, nicely crested neck running into well laid shoulders, well developed fore chest, good topline and strong hindquarters which he uses so well on the move. 

Group 4 Hobby’s Icarus Gene Genie Labrador Retriever Well balanced feminine bitch who has a broad skull, well defined stop, strong under jaw, and intelligent expression. Deep, wide chest , strong hindquarters, moves soundly with a good outline. 

 

Gundog Puppy Group 

 

Group 1 Strudwick’s Flatcharm Miss Lotsa Love For Burpham Flatcoated Retriever. Pulled out all the stops to win this quality puppy group. She is so well balanced, and very elegant. She has a long narrow moulded head, dark medium sized eyes with a soft expression. She moves so well with excellent reach and drive holding a level topline. 

 Group 2 Sandiford & Sutherland’s Harbinger’s Highland Treasure (imp CAN) Gordon Setter Eye catching dog of correct size in great coat. Very nice head with defined stop, broad muzzle and dark expressive eyes, good body and topline, strong hindquarters, straight free flowing movement with well carried tail. 

Group 3 Murray & McKenzie’s, Totem De La Chance American Cocker Spaniel, Such a baby. He has a lovely head with slightly rounded skull, strong well plushed muzzle and correctly set ears. So very well made with good body proportions and correct coat. He has light, free movement . 

Group 4 Barkley’s Chanangel Mr Whodat At Cherryheath.  Welsh Springer Spaniel. Another baby who was just a little hesitant but his qualities shine through. Masculine dog with gorgeous head and expression, good front, nicely crested neck, good bone and rib cage, correct body proportions and strong hindquarters. He moves with positive footfall.

Puppy   (6,2) 

1st MURRAY & MCKENZIE’S, TOTEM DE LA CHANCE AMERICAN COCKER SPANIEL, D.  6mths. This is such a quality boy to go over. Super head with good plush to muzzle. Straight front, well angulated shoulders, his quarters have width & muscular definition with low hocks, straight when viewed from behind. At his first show and showing a little hesitance but he moved well holding his topline well and a good tail carriage. Puppy Gp 3  

2nd ROSE,&  WHITEFIELD’S , BRACCORIONS MEANT TO BE WITH PICCORINO BRACCO ITALIANO, B.  Balanced girl of good size and type. Softest expression from fairly large oval eyes. She needs to tighten up in front but has great profile movement showing good ground cover and holding her topline well.  

3rd COLDWELLS’S LUCORU SUMMER BREEZE ITALIAN SPINONE, B 

 

Junior   (3,1) 

1st SLADDEN’S FEEL OF PRIDE EVA ELETTRA AT CANEMAMANS (IMP RUS) BRACCO ITALIANO, B. 

Bitch of a good size. Shown in good condition. Clean neck, well sprung rib with ample heart room, strong bone, and well defined quarters. Moved ok. 

2nd CHANNON, DAVIES & HORLER’S MONTECANI SHES A RAINBOW OVER THANDIWE TAF ITALIAN SPINONE, B.  Pleasing head with good divergent planes and a soft expression. Nice outline, good texture to coat and good feet. Not as positive as 1st  the move. 

 

Post Graduate  (4,2) 

1st MURRAY & MCKENZIE’S KELLICIOUS NEBRASKA KNIGHT AMERICAN COCKER SPANIEL D. Smart, impressive, masculine boy with a fabulous head with the softest of expressions and plenty of plushing. Well proportioned body with good bone giving the impression of strength. Moved showing good drive and back lift. 

2nd SLADDEN’S TYRBECHGYN BELIEVE YOU CAN AT CANEMAMANS BRACCO ITALIANO B. Pleasing girl but, for me, she is a little fine in head.  She moved ok when she settled in to her stride 

 

Open (5) 

1st EVANS’S YORKHAM ROCKING RUDOLPH SUSSEX SPANIEL D. This young man’s overall type is fabulous, very laid back character, super head & expression with the requisite frown. Strong neck leading to correct lay of shoulder, firm  topline that was held perfectly on the move. Correct length in back and the firmest of loins. Strong well muscled quarters, with a well defined second thigh. Quality coat that was presented to advantage.  His profile movement is true & effortless and was straight fore and aft. Handled well and presented in excellent muscle and coat condition. Very pleased to award him Best AVNSC and Gundog  Gp 2 

2nd STEPHENSON’S EMMROCHE BORGHESA AT TIMTAURN LAGOTTO ROMAGNOLO B.  Beautiful headed bitch, the softest of expressions. Strong neck leading in to well-placed shoulders, strong quarters which were well muscled, and in turn gave positive movement. Well presented coat with individual curls and visible undercoat.

1st CROUCH’S TRIMERE TIMELESS WITH KASSAN B. Lovely make & shape with a very feminine outlook but has the required strength & substance to complete the picture. Balanced head with a good dark eye & the best of expressions. Straight front, good depth of chest with plenty of heartroom.  Moved soundly on a free & easy stride.  BP 

 

Junior (2) 

Two youngsters really enjoying their day.  

1st WEYMAN’S SPUFFING TANQUERAY B. Good size, pleasing shape & presents a clean & balanced look. Feminine head with plenty of work in it & a good eye & expression. Well developed body for her age, firm hindquarters & a stylish positive mover when she settled . Just needs coat to complete the picture. 

2nd DUNSDON’S MEADOWDALE LUTHER VANDROSS AT SEASPRING D. Attractive masculine young dog. Pleasing head with a kind expression. Balanced outline good front, neck and correct topline. Moved exuberantly but his footfall is good.

1st WALKER’S DEXBENELLA ATTICUS FINCH D. Lovely stylish quality dog, balanced head with a lovely expression, strong neck leading into clean shoulders, deep well sprung ribs, very good angulation behind, moved soundly with drive showing the ESS unique front action. BOB 

2nd WEYMAN’S SPUFFING MOLLY’S SECRET B. Well made throughout & presents a very pleasing  picture. Pretty head with a lovely eye & soft expression, Well made front assembly, excellent depth of chest, strong quarters & a good bend of stifle. Sound on the move.

1st STRUDWICK,’S FLATCHARM MISS LOTSA LOVE FOR BURPHAM B.  Graceful girl whose outline just flows! Lovely long moulded head with, and kind expression. Long crested neck, well laid shoulders, good feet and pasterns, beautiful outline which she keeps on the move, covering plenty of ground and using her tail. Very well conditioned and handled  to advantage 

2nd TAITE’S GAMERIGHTS TROYTE D. Super eye and expression. Love the size of this boy, I believe he will be slow to develop but will be worth the wait. He has good bone and balance.  He moves freely but needs to firm up on his topline.

2nd SWAN’S SWANTONWOOD GOLD LEAF B. Pleasing eye & expression. Scores in neck & shoulders. Straight front standing on good legs & feet.   She was quite fussy on the move and this made her over reach.

1st JOHNSON’S DOWNSTREAM POETIC JUSTICE JW B. Long, lean head with an alert expression.  Well set ears. Good length to neck leading into well placed shoulders. Pleasing depth to brisket, straight legs, short strong loin and well defined quarters. Free flowing movement holding a firm topline and a tail that never stopped wagging.  

2nd BURR’S WOODFINCH TORRIN OF SCHEINDUBH D. Pleasing head with good moulding. Balanced body just needs to firm up in muscle tone. Great textured coat.  Moved purposefully. 

3rd TAPPIN’S BLACKTOFT BORN OF ICE (AI) D

1st SWAN’S GAYPLUME BOWLED OVER ShCM D. Balanced head – the kindest of eyes. Beautifully balanced with nothing overdone.  Well laid shoulders and good depth to chest with pronounced pro-sternum.  Shown in great condition. On the move he was balanced with lovely reach & drive.  BOB 

2nd BURR’S WOODFINCH RUBHA INNIS OF SCHEINDUBH B. Balanced feminine head with good planes, a soft eye and a kind expression. Strong neck, strong coupling, good feet and in good coat. Moved well, carrying her tail level.

1st BRAINE’S GRENETREST CANTERBURY BELL JW D. (GSP) Balanced head, strong neck, enough bone, good depth to the brisket, firm and level topline, correct moderate rear angulation. Well muscled throughout which gave sound, athletic movement. 

2nd WALKER’S DEXIDAX WHISTLING DIXIE B. ( MIN W/H DACHSHUND) Feminine girl that oozes attitude. Lovely kind expression in a well balanced head. Well constructed with good depth, strong loin and cracking hindquarters. Well muscled which gave true movement fore and aft.   

3rd DUNSDON’S MEADOWDALE LUTHER VANDROSS AT SEASPRING D. (ESS)

1st ALLANSSON-RUNESSON & MACDONALD’S JASARAT SALTED CARAMEL OF MACALLDON D. (WHIPPET) Loved this young man for his balance, and appealing expression. Excellent shape with elegance & strength  combined. Best of heads with a good eye & expression, pleasing reach of neck with an excellent layback of shoulder, firm  topline, good tailset & carriage. Move fluidly. 

2nd ROBERTS & SPEARING’S LINKENLEES LAURINA B. (Beagle) Pretty bitch, with the kindest of expressions. Strong neck leading in to well-placed shoulders, level topline and short couplings well muscled quarters which  gave positive movement.

2nd PILKINGTON & ELLIS’S MOLKARA CRYSTAL KNIGHT AT BRIMBECK ShCM D. (COCKER SPANIEL)  9 years young and looking like a yearling! Lovely dog with typical head proportions and expressive eye. Strong  muscular neck into well laid back shoulders. Well-sprung ribs and good depth to chest. Good bone, straight front with tight elbows. Moved on an easy stride with a lashing tail and attitude.
