BORDER COUNTIES GUNDOG 6TH MAY 2019

GORDON SETTERS

P. (2, 1 abs) 1. Cuthbertsons’ Lannireach Angels Share. A typical raw 10 mths bitch wearing a flat, shiny coat with good chestnut red markings. She has a short level back, flat croup and decent width behind. Pretty head with dark eyes and low set ears. Shows a clean pair of heels going away. BP.

G. (1) 1. Cuthbertsons’ Lannireach Buttons. Rather too strong in skull for my preference but he has plenty of brain room, a clearly defined stop and low set ears. His bone is flat and strong and he has a long neck, good lay of shoulder and return of upper arm. Exuberant on the move.

L. (3, 1 abs) 1. Abba’s Hernwood Summer Lovin. This dog has a lovely expression and eye shape with clear tan markings. Being picky I would like a better rounded skull and clearer tan on his muzzle. He is short in back and carries his topline well on the move. Good forward reach. In better and shinier coat than 2. McAvoy’s Laurelhach Bemm. Heavier type with a balanced head, good lay of shoulder and length of upper arm. Not as animated on the move as the winner.

O. (5, 2 abs) 1. Collins-Pitman’s Amscot Love Is In The Air JW. What a beauty! Her coat, colour and markings are what defines her as an outstanding example of the breed. I love her size and striking outline, her excellent angulation, bladed bone and superb muscle tone. Her head is so well balanced being deep with the muzzle just shorter than her slightly rounded skull. Her lustrous tan markings are very clear and her lush coat shiny coal black. She moves with reach and drive carrying a strong level back with head held high and lashing tail. BOB. 2. MacGregor’s Somerled Glen Urquart. Strongly built dog who held his topline better than third placed bitch. Heavier in head than the winner he nevertheless has plenty of breed type with his substance and flat croup. 3. Turner’s Dunfionn Quair with Moniack. BV.
