Exeter & County Canine Society Open Show March 23rd 2019

Whippet Critique

I would like to thank the Officers and Committee for their invitation to judge today. I really appreciated their hospitality and organisation, which contributed to the well running of the show. Thank you to all Exhibitors for such a super entry it was very much appreciated and I did enjoy going over your lovely dogs.

Puppy (4, 1a)

1. Smeath; Dejare Only Dreaming At Willingwisp. Refined and oozing femininity, a shapely 8 month old fawn bitch with white trim of lovely breed type. Pretty feminine head and expression, perfect scissor bite. Elegant long arched neck flowed into a well laid shoulder. Forelegs straight and upright with desired bladed bone, neatest of feet. Adequate depth of brisket for one so young, good length of loin and turn of stifle with hocks well let down, she stood naturally covering the ground. Moved well in side profile holding a good topline. Accurate foot fall coming and going. BPIB, HPG4.

2. Wallace; Collooney Playing Away At Courtbirch. Eye catching 8 month old pale fawn dog, black mask with white trim. Another quality puppy I really liked him a lot. Good masculine head, alert expression complimented by the darkest of eye. Pleasing depth of brisket for age, desired angulation front and rear. Moved with good reach as expected from his well constructed front assembly, and drive in side profile. Not quite as together coming and going as the winner. Close decision.

3. Barnes; Doddridge Secret Passion.

Junior (3, 0a)

1. Trouton; Citycroft Grace Kelly Of Runnel. Pretty fawn and white parti bitch not long out of puppy class. Spot on for size and well balanced throughout. Feminine head, black mask darkest of eye pigmentation. Good length of neck which flowed into a well laid shoulder and return of upper arm. Adequate depth for age and good infill, she has the neatest of feet. Pleasing topline which she held on the move. Good width of thigh, sweeping turn of stifle enabling powerful rear drive. Moved out well and enthusiastically in profile, certainly enjoying herself.

2. Livsey; Palmik Ace Of Spades. 15 month old attractive dark brindle dog with white trim a tad heavier in build. Good depth and infill, moved well just preferred the topline and overall picture of 1.

3. Manley; Grasampa Turn On The Light.

Post Graduate (12, 1a)

1. Prowse; Crosscop One Step Closer To Freehamlet. Neat fawn bitch 20 months old another good for size. Pretty head, clean scissor bite sweet gentle feminine expression. Long elegant arched neck, lovely flowing lines with good angulation front and rear. Absolutely floated around the ring so effortlessly, sound in all directions. Best mover for me which won her the class.

2. Baulch; Whisterfield Je Ne Sais Quoi. Pale fawn bitch of 2 years 8 months, another pretty feminine girl with good pigmentation. Nice angles has a lot to like, moved out soundly.

3. Smeath; Willingwisp Sky’s The Limit.

Limit (7, 0a)

1. Trouton; Runnel Run For Fun. Smart fawn dog almost 36 months old headed a strong line up in this class. An honest boy full of quality, good for size well balanced and without exaggeration. Pleasing angles, depth and tuck up with good width across his rear quarters. Presented in firm muscular condition. Moved well with enough rear drive in profile holding a good topline. Pushed hard in the challenge RBOB.

2. Baulch; Erinnis Mignonette. Pretty feminine fawn bitch with white trim 2 years and 6 months old with lots to like. Shiny coat, shapely girl viewed in side profile has all the curves in the right places. Moved well. Preferred the overall picture of the winner today.

3. Taylor; Willingwisp Moment Of Hope To Musblaiks.

Open Dog (5, 0a)

1. Prowse; Freehamlet Perfick Peter ShCM. Handsome quality pale fawn 7 year old veteran dog with white trim, built on a slightly taller frame. He portrayed a picture of elegance however still retaining masculinity. Good long lean head, flat skull and dark eye pigmentation complimented his alert expression. Long arched neck flowed into a correct front assembly. Desired depth of brisket, ribs well sprung. Pleasing gentle rise over a strong loin. Powerful upper thigh good sweeping stifle enabled great rear drive. Moved out accurately, sound as a pound coming and going. Best mover in the class.

2. Barnes; Willingwisp Loose Ur Shirt At Doddridge. Smart 4 year old red fawn dog with white trim. Good male head, striking with black mask and the darkest coal eye. Has a lot to like, good angles and topline moved soundly and with purpose.

3. Taylor; Musblaiks Light My Fire.

Open Bitch (4,0a)

1. Smeath; Willingwisp Moment Of Love. Classy 3 year old pale fawn bitch with white trim, one I have often admired from ringside and today she did not disappoint on further inspection. She is quality from the tip of her nose right down to the end of her tail. The most beautiful head and kind well set eye complimented a lovely feminine expression. Her elegant neck flowed into a good top line, lovely depth with the most curvaceous of underlines flowed into a good tuck up. Presented in super condition, coat and muscle tone. A vision of sheer elegance and beauty on the stack she commanded every bit of your attention today. Moved out soundly with ease in all directions. Worthy winner BOB.

2. Prowse; Supeta’s Ice Ice Baby Of Freehamlet ShCM. Attractive 4 year old fawn brindle, another good bitch with lots to like. Stood square, forelimbs straight, tidy neat feet. Pleasing angles front and rear. Moved effortlessly in profile with great rear drive. Just preferred the elegance of the winner.

3. Taylor; Musblaiks On Thru The Night.
