Whippet Critique

I would like to thank the Officers and Committee for their kind invitation to judge at their 75th Anniversary Show today. I felt honoured and really appreciated their warm hospitality, and organisation which contributed to the well running of the show. Thank you to all Exhibitors for a super entry it was very much appreciated and I did enjoy going over your lovely dogs.

Puppy (7, 1a)

1. James & Peacock; Wolfscastle Rumour Has It Among Drakesoak. Eyecatching 11 month old cream/fawn dog oozing quality from nose to tail. Confident youngster presented in lovely condition, coat and muscle tone. Handsome head, well set oval eye complimented his kind expression. Good reach of neck flowed into a correct shoulder placement, adequate depth of brisket and infill for age. Well sprung ribs, strong muscular back with desired gentle rise over loin. Good width across his hind quarters, powerful thigh sweeping turn of stifle enabled great rear drive in side profile. Moved out accurately and with ease in all directions carrying his tail correctly in a delicate curve. Best mover in the class for me and a clear winner today. BPIB delighted he went HPG2.

2. Bleakley; Runaround Music Maker. Pretty 8 month old fawn bitch of lovely breed type. Feminine, nice angles both fore and aft. At a different stage of development in comparison to 1. Nevertheless enough depth, just yet to develop in topline. Moved out soundly.

3. Colquhoun; Kidaruka A Mother’s Prayer.

Junior (1, 0a)

1. Miluk; Westwood Prince Liam. Good looking 15 month old fawn dog with white trim stood alone in this class today, nevertheless fully deserving of his first place. Good masculine head, strong jaw and correct scissor bite. Stood square, fore limbs straight, correct spring of pastern and standing on good feet. Desired depth of brisket and strong in loin, really has lots to like. Moved out well and freely, true coming and going, just a little unsettled in the challenge.

Post Graduate (2, 0a)

1. Miluk; Wiltshire Princess Ruby. Attractive dark brindle and white parti bitch, litter sibling to the winner of the previous class. Slightly more up to size and being a tad stronger than I would prefer, nevertheless balanced and feminine. Well constructed front assembly, good length and return of upper arm, elbow falling directly under wither viewed on the stack. Deep through the brisket, curvaceous underline flowed into a good tuck up complimenting her lovely shape. Rear angulation mirrored her front. Moved out soundly and with purpose RBOB.

2. Bristow; Poppyhall Mad Hatter. Smart 2 year old fawn brindle dog with white trim. Good masculine head with the darkest of eye complimented his alert expression. Nice topline and adequate depth of brisket. Moved soundly, just preferred the balance and overall picture of 1.

Open (4, 0a)

1.Miluk; Mollytop Lady Babu. Mature fawn and white parti bitch of lovely breed type. Dam of the 2 previous class winners, uncanny in resemblance especially between mother and daughter albeit on a smaller scale. An honest bitch full of quality and spot on for size, well balanced and without exaggeration. Lovely feminine head and expression, correct scissor bite. Enough reach of neck flowed into a good lay of shoulder, length and return of upper arm. Super depth of brisket and good infill, pleasing gentle rise over loin. Good width of thigh sweeping turn of stifle with hocks well let down. Moved out soundly and effortlessly in all directions. Worthy winner BOB and HG3.

2.Evans; Wolfscastle Hope N Glory. Refined and ultra feminine 2 year old fawn brindle bitch with  white trim, whom I’ve had the pleasure of judging at a previous show. Pretty head, elegant long arched neck flowed into a well laid shoulder. Enough depth, super shape viewed in profile she has all the curves in all the right places. Pleasing second thigh and good turn of stifle with hocks well let down. Moved out freely and I was pleased to see her more settled on the move today. Just preferred the substance of the winner.

3. Bristow; Glasrhedyn Now Or Never.
