Portuguese Water Dogs Luton CA 31 December 2019

Thank you to the exhibitors, I greatly enjoyed judging your lovely dogs and appreciated your entries.

P (2) A very nice class, 1 Smith’s Gemson Alfamar of Odeely, Almost 12 month black D puppy, mature and up to size. Excellent bone, good width to skull, strong tapering muzzle. Slightly longer cast than 2 but with a very short loin and correct angulation both ends. Good depth and spring of rib. Moved soundly both ways. BP and pleased to see him placed 2nd in the puppy Group later. 2 Dring’s Yelsek For The Love Of, Another nice black D puppy but giving away 3 months to the winner which showed in maturity. Being a bit shorter in body I preferred the overall balance and tail set of this one and his darker eye, however his head is not there yet and not the upper arm or hind angulation of 1 so not as positive on the move.

J (1) 1 Smith’s Oakholme Imperial Wizard, Eye catching 12 months black D with good bone and well balanced throughout showing a great outline. Head still needs to come with maturity giving more width of skull and strength of muzzle. Rib OK for age. Good dark eye and stop, well set tail. Moved well both ways when settled.

G (1,1)

O (2) 1 Dring’s Ch Yelsek The One And Only, One I have admired before and really pleased to be able to go over him. He didn’t disappoint. Well proportioned overall and in excellent coat and condition. Strong muzzle and skull with good width, dark eye, strong neck of correct length, good layback of shoulder, withers nicely spaced. Great depth and spring of rib, short loin, correct upper arm. Moved well. BOB. 2 Tweedie’s INT/IR/NL/BE Ch Fame Da Pedra Da Anixa, Another quality D, not the balance of 1 being longer cast and not co-operating with his handler. Good bone and substance, Good spring and depth of rib, moved well. Won over 3 on head, bone and rib. 3 Mainland’s Ir Ch Dragonbank D’Artagnan.
