Rhyl Canine Society

Many thanks to this very friendly committee for the invite to judge their show, a little disappointed with the absentee rate but pleased with my group line-up at the close of judging, delighted to see my choice of Boxer went on to win RBIS under Robin Newhouse, a very enjoyable day.

DOBERMANN

Open 1(0)

1. Parker’s Supeta’s Rocket Man. 4 year old male nicely presented in fit, well-toned condition. Masculine head but would have preferred a more defined skull. Stood straight in front with good feet, bone and depth of chest. Sound top-line but could be better in croup. Looking a little ‘down in the mouth’ but he moved well enough showing some accurate reach and drive, BOB.

BULLMASTIFF

Puppy 1(0)

1. Benson’s Look At Me with Amstelodamum. 11 month old fawn bitch. Would like a squarer head but kind expression and dark eye. Strong muscular neck with nicely angulated front, good body proportions and depth of chest. She moved confidently in profile if somewhat a little untidy when viewed from rear, presented in well-toned condition but needs more practise to improve her overall ring etiquette, BOB, BP & PG3.

BOXER

Open 2(1)

1. Pynegar/Loasby’s Berwynfa Fifty Shadz Freed. Impressive young male of 20 months who looked a picture standing and moved beautifully in profile. Appealing square head with tight, dark eye and kind expression. Lovely angulation throughout with sound top-line and good depth and shape of rib. Turned out in impeccable condition, he moved well in all directions covering ground easily. Very pleased to see him chosen as RBIS later in the day, BOB, G1 & RBIS.

GREAT DANE

Junior 1(0)

1. Abbott’s Nikami Serenade. Nicely presented young bitch of 12 months. Liked her outline standing and moving. Straight front with good forechest, depth and shape of rib. Kind head with strong muzzle and dark eye. Sound, strong top-line, she moved typically with free, easy gait. Presented in immaculate condition with good muscle tone, BOB & G3.

Post Graduate 2(1)

1. Smith/Lewis’ Leyshen Legend for Axeford. Nicely proportioned 3 year old male of good size and shape. A little untidy in front but with good bone and sound top-line. Moved out well in profile, a little un-coordinated going away. Presented in clean, well-muscled condition.

Open 1(0)

1. Abbott’s Nikami The Lyrical ShCM. Well presented fawn bitch of 5 years. Balanced head with dark eye and kind expression, good strength of muzzle. Looked well standing in outline but felt she could have moved a little more freely. Well handled and in good muscular condition.

NEWFOUNDLAND

Open 1(0)

1. Austin’s Baranova Big Bopper of Elbear JW ShCM. Beautifully presented and in immaculate condition. Masculine head with strong muzzle and balanced skull. Good neck and well angulated front, good bone, forechest and lovely depth, correct rib. Moved freely with good reach and drive. Close decision between Boxer and Newfoundland for Group, BOB & G2.

ALASKAN MALAMUTE

Puppy 1(0)

1. Whyman’s Tailfly Bloodline. Young bitch of 11 months with kind head, good eye and ears. Muscular neck with good front, strong bone and tidy feet. Sound top-line which she held well standing and moving. Nicely muscled all through with well angulated rear and good tail carriage. Moved freely with good reach and drive, BP & PG2.

Open 2(0)

1. Whyman/Murray’s Tailfly Rainbow Ribbons. I remember judging this bitch many years ago, she still looks well at 10 years. Kind head, good eye and ear-set. Strong top-line with good body proportions. Well set croup and tail carriage with well-muscled rear. She moved out well with accurate extension and drive, BOB.

2. Isherwood’s Ishjamani Purple Haize ShCM. 8 year old male who was a little overdone all through for me. Kind head and expression with sound body proportions. Good bone and strongly made, he moved out well enough.

SIBERIAN HUSKY

Puppy 2(0)

1. Spruce’s Mysticwolf Diesel’s Dream. 11 month old bitch with feminine head and keen expression. Good neck leading into a well placed shoulder. Sound body proportions, she moved confidently in all directions. Presented in well-muscled condition with excellent temperament, BOB, BP & PG1.

2. Spruce’s Mysticwolf Kira’s Legacy. Litter mate to 1st in this class and many attributes the same but today very unhappy not to be handled by her ‘mum’. Nicely angulated, just not the depth of chest as 1. Moved well in profile, just lacking accuracy when viewed from behind. Again, presented in well-muscled condition

Open 3(2)

1. Spruce’s Mysticwolf’s El Unico. Bitch of 17 months with feminine head and expression, good ears and eye. Stood a little narrow in front but moved well in profile and another presented in excellent well-muscled condition.

BERNESE MOUNTAIN DOG

Junior 3(2)

1. Fairclough’s Monalou Galloping Gourmet. 15 month old male of good type. Balanced skull with kind expression, eye needs to tighten. Good structure with deep chest and correct rib, strong bone. Sound top-line he moved well with ease in all directions. Presented in well-muscled condition with excellent coat, BOB & G4.

Open 2(1)

1. Fairclough’s Monalou Spirit of Discovery ShCM. 4 year old male where I preferred the head of my previous class winner. Lovely expression and dark eye. Good depth of chest and strong bone. Held his top-line well moving and standing, would have liked a little more reach and drive on the move.

AVNSC WORKING

Junior 1(0)

1. Byrne’s Harpan Charlotte Bay Ir/B JCh - Canadian Eskimo Dog. Of beautiful temperament and a bitch who I have judged before. Lovely head with keen expression, good eye and balanced skull, lovely character. Good neck leading into a well placed front, correct body proportions. Moved with excellent reach and drive and presented in well-muscled hard condition, BAVNSC.
