The Midland & West of England Great Dane Club Thirty-Fifth Colour Format Open Show 

Sunday 3rd February 2019 Judge – Caroline Friend-Rees (Amical)

 I would like to thank the officers and committee of The Midland & West of England Great Dane Club for inviting me to judge the veteran classes and Best in Show at their Thirty Fifth Colour Format Open Show. The show was so very well run and ring layouts very impressive. Thank you also to the Two Breed Specialist judges who sent through such quality dogs . 

 Special Veteran Dog 2/1 1st Miss J Flanagan and Mrs J Flanagan’s Dainmajik Dante For Soupury Mantle male with a strong masculine head of good proportions. Lovely strong neck into well laid shoulders, deep chest and well sprung ribs. Moving well 

Special Veteran Bitch 3/3 1st Lady J Ingram’s Dainmajik The Sorceress ShCM Very pretty bitch with excellent bone yet still elegant. Head of good size and proportions. Lovely dark eyes and well set ears. Clean long arched neck flowing into firm topline and well made hindquarters. Moving with free flowing ground covering action. A pleasure to award her Best Veteran in Show.2ndMr K S & Mrs M J Humphries’ Jaydania Georgia of Bengrafton ShCM Another quality feminine bitch with well laid shoulders, deep chest down to brisket and lovely straight forelegs. Firm topline and strong hindquarters. Just preferred the movement of 1. 3rdMrs J H Middleton’s Dinahtron Lady Luck From Dornoir  

Best in Show - Lesley & Adam Chappell and Miss J A Williams’ Ch Selmalda The Journey, Stunning male. Powerful and masculine yet still elegant. He commands your attention as he enters ring.So well made with excellent front and rear anglation, deep chest down to tight elbows and straight forelegs. Firm topline and strong hindquarters giving a totally balanced outline. Moving with ground covering free easy movement and powering from the rear. A pleasure to award him Best in Show. 

Res Best in Show & Best Opposite Sex in Show Mrs S Searle’s Ch Droolakiss Miss Busybody at Murrayvhayle Stylish elegant bitch but still with good bone and substance. Excellent head of correct proportions, broad muzzle and lovely eye shape and colour. Good length of neck into firm topline, deep body and well sprung ribs. Strong muscular well angulated hindquarters. Super movement. Reserve Best in Show & Best Opposite Sex in Show.

Best Puppy in Show Mr & Mrs J & L Donnelly and Mrs J Toohey’s Primus Breakin Rules Eye catching fawn male with a well proportioned masculine head , dark eyes and correct dentition. Long, clean, arched neck in well placed shoulders, lovely forechest and straight forelegs. Firm topline, deep chest down to tight elbows and strong well angulated hindquarters. Moving effortlessly around the ring with ground covering strides.Could not deny him Best Puppy in Show. 

Res Best Puppy in Show Mrs K Walsh and Mrs Sarah Tempest’s Adoreadane Summer Eclipse. 9 month old mantle male with lovely markings. Good bone and substance. Strong masculine head and dark eyes. Strong long neck into firm topline and well angulated hindquarters. Super free easy moving male.
