Gundogs:
Thank you to the Committee for asking me to judge this show and for the kind hospitality on the day. This show was held in partnership with LKA of Scotland, so exhibitors could do 2 shows on same day at same venue and Im sure this helped with entries. The gundogs were well supported and I was looking for fit for function dogs who could do the job they were bred for and on the whole I found many. Quality was excellent across many breeds. From a stellar line up my winner of the group was the gold cocker spaniel Gallingos Goldfinger, a handsome lad I judged last year at the cocker club and made him BIS and still love him. Quality dog, scores in head and expression, holds lovely profile stacked and moving, compact in body with good depth of chest, happy wagging tail and well handled and presented. Group 2 was the racy Irish Setter, Staratlanta Elliott shcm, Correct head proportions, dark eye and gentle expression, good reach of neck and well laid shoulders, moved out well holding correct topline and tailset, in fabulous coat and condition, pressed 1 hard. Group 3, o/w Pointer, Sonstraal only an illusion JW, had won through a quality entry of pointers, classic outline with good tuck up, correct head, lovely depth of chest, moved well holding good topline, shown in muscular condition. Group 4, a very promising Gordon Setter, Yennadon Benriach handsome lad, lovely head and expression, good chest and rib, broad muscular hindquarters, gleaming coat and condition, one to watch.
Puppy group was also very competitive. Group 1 was the lovely WSS, Tammano teal at Eiriandlis, 10 month old, classic head, good neck and body, lovely outline, confident mover in gleaming coat and condition. Group 2, the delightful cocker, Totenkopf dutch mirror, so feminine in head, compact in body, scores in rib and chest, moves out well for one so young, one for the future. Group 3, stunning GSP, Winterwell Whakapapa with Worlewood, have admired this line for a while, all male, balanced in head, looks good on the stack, short in back, deep in chest, shown in hard condition. Group 4, the pretty American Cocker, Arrowbien believe in magic at Twizeltree, loved her sire and he has passed on his qualities, good length of neck, short in back, holds correct slightly sloping topline on the move, with correct tailset. Moved well to take her place here.
