Worthing & District Canine Society

My thanks to the officers and committee for kindly inviting me to judge at this lovely show, and to my two stewards Jules and Annette for their sterling work in what was a long day. Finally thank you to all exhibitors for your wonderful entry.

Irish Setters

P (4) 

1st Humphrey’s Alolfrana Miss Daisy At Henaleas (ai). 10 months. Quality puppy. Super outline. Well chiselled head. Clean neck leading to well laid shoulder. Deep chest. Moderately sloping topline. Well made hindquarters. Good second thigh. Excellent bone. Moved accurately fore and aft and when viewed in profile showed a good open side gait. Really lovely puppy. BP

2nd Randle’s Alolfrana Lady Million At Rionore. I see she is a litter sister to the winner. 10 months. Well balanced. Good head with correct chiselling. Clean neck. Would like a little more slope to topline. Deep chest. Well ribbed back. Correct hindquarters. Not quite as accurate on move going away but another very promising youngster. I am sure their breeder must be proud to have produced two such good bitches.

1st Williamson’s Bluesprings Picture This. 14 months. Good overall balance. Well proportioned head with good chiselling under eyes. Clean neck. Correct topline. Deep chest. Well ribbed back. Correct tail set. Well made hindquarters. Square from hock to heel. Excellent bone and feet. Moved well fore and aft with good length of stride when viewed in profile. In excellent coat and condition. RBOB

2nd Harris, Bridgewater & Hoeksema’s Blazing Bronze Happy Clappy Sings Konakakela (imp Nld). 17 months. Well balanced. Nicely moulded head well chiselled beneath the eyes. Clean neck leading to well laid shoulder with correct length of upper arm. Good depth of chest. Correct topline. Well made hindquarters. Moved with drive – though not as accurate going away as winner. Excellent coat and condition.

2nd Tapper’s Lynwood Heypresto Kedalita. Well balanced all thought. Head of good shape and kind expression. Clean neck leading to well laid shoulder and corresponding return of upper arm. Deep chest. Well ribbed back with correct topline. Well made hindquarters. Good bone and feet. Not quite as tidy in rear movement as winner.

1st Bailey & Condron’s Covarney Lil’s Rascal JW ShCM. 4 year old. Super outline and overall balance. Correct head shape with good chiselling beneath the eyes. Correct stop and definition of occiput. Clean neck leading to well laid shoulder. Deep chest with ribcage well back. Slightly sloping topline. Well made hindquarters with correctly set tail used to advantage on the move. Moved accurately fore and aft and showed excellent open side gait when viewed in profile. Handled to advantage and shown in excellent coat and condition. BOB and later shortlisted in Gundog Group.

2nd Williams’ Kirkavagh Wayward Lad. 9 years old and a credit to his owner. Well balanced outline. Excellent head and expression. Little upright in shoulder and not quite the topline of winner. Deep chest. Well ribbed back. Well made hindquarters. Moved well for and aft and with good extension when viewed in profile - belying his years. In excellent coat and condition.

1st Bryant’s Kilnrae Hallmark JW. 2 year old. Good overall balance. Pleasing head with well defined stop. Clean neck. Well laid shoulder. Deep chest. Level topline. Croup could be little flatter. Well made hindquarters. Moved well fore and aft and in profile. Good coat and condition. BOB

2nd Horler’s Hernwood Jack O Lantern By Rackens JW. Good overall balance and strongly made. Pleasing head with deep stop. Good neck. Well laid shoulder. Deep chest. I felt that the winner had the better topline. Well made hindquarters. Excellent bone and feet. Moved well – not quite as accurate going away. RBOB.

1st Cuddy’s Sh Ch Taxus Golden Prince In Balbriggan. An excellent example of the breed. Beautifully balanced all through. Correct outline. Well moulded head with well defined stop and clean muzzle. Good length of neck leading to well laid shoulder and corresponding return of upper arm. Chest of good width and depth. Level topline. Well sprung ribcage. Strong muscular hindquarters. In excellent coat and condition. Moved accurately fore and aft with very good open side gait when viewed in profile. BOB.



West Highland White Terriers

1st Fox’s Hillsted Sweet Destiny. 8 month. Well balanced and strongly built all through. Head of good width and slightly longer in skull. Clean neck into well sloped shoulders. Elbows tight to the body. Compact body with deep chest and well sprung rib. Strong short back with well set tail. Powerful hindquarters with well turned stifles. Well padded feet. Moved with drive and showing a really good forward reach. Harsh coat. BP, PG1 and later delighted to see her win RBPIS

1st Newcombe’s Comdale For Your Eyes Only. Good outline. Head of balanced proportions and slightly curved skull. Clean neck. Well laid shoulder. Deep chest. Well sprung rib with short loin. Good tail set. Well muscled hindquarters. Moved soundly. Harsh coat texture.

2nd Bryant’s Swifdon Sweet Temptation At Camame. Longer cast than winner. Pleasing head with alert expression Clean neck. Well laid shoulder. Not holding topline as well as winner. Well made hindquarters with good width of second thigh. Not quite as positive in movement. Harsh coat.

Short level back. Strong hindquarters. Correct tail carried erect. Moved with good forward extension and strong rear drive. Good harsh coat. BOB

2nd Walden’s Thozow Great Expectations For Paramount ShCM, ShCEx. Another quality dog. Excellent outline. Good head with correct earset. Deep chest. large ribcage with short loin and correct tail set. Strong hindquarters. Moved well but not quite forward reach of winner. RBOB

1st Williams’ Whitestubbs Gandhi Boy Bach. 6 month. Excellent overall balance. True otter head. Clean neck leading to narrow body. Correct span behind shoulder. Good ribcage and racy hind quarters. Well set tail. Dense, harsh coat. Movement accurate both fore and aft with good length of stride viewed in profile. BP, RBOB & PG3

2nd Williams’ Whitestubbs We Winnie Winkie. Litter sister to winner. Excellent overall balance. Not as forward as winner. Good head proportions. Clean neck. Good topline and long, narrow ribcage. Harsh coat. Good bone and feet. Correct tail. Not as tidy in rear movement but good in profile.

3rd Cox’s Bostontime All Eyes On Me

1st Hughes’ Reedbeck Kittyhawk of Arunmere. Just a year old. Balanced outline. True otter head. Clean neck leading through to narrow body and correctspan behind the shoulders. Well ribbed back with correct topline and good tailset. Well made hindquarters. Harsh coat. Moved accurately - true and aft and freely when viewed in profile. BOB G3

2nd Woods’ Baillieswells Scapa. Another quality bitch. Well balanced. Good head. Little stuffy in neck. Good shoulder. Deep in chest. Well ribbed back. Well made hindquarters and used tail well on move. Good texture to coat.

1st Mitchell & Ashton’s Chedanstaff Devil Star. Very well named as he was certainly full of himself! Good overall balance. Broad head with well defined cheeks but not coarse in any way. Distinct stop with short foreface. Strong, clean neck. Chest of good width and depth leading to well sprung ribcage and short loin. Level topline. Well made hindquarters. Moved on good stride. RBOB

2nd Turner’s On The Hill Two At Tidestaff. 16 months bitch. Well balanced. Head was a little full in cheek but has a good stop. Strong neck. Deep wide chest. Good rib and loin. Well made hindquarters. Not the length of stride of winner.

1st Mitchell & Ashton’s Blooming Lovely. Excellent overall balance. Head of correct proportions. Good stop and correct cheek. Strong neck. Deep wide chest with elbows level with the brisket. Well ribbed with short loin. Level topline. Well made hindquarters. On the move accurate fore and aft with good drive from the rear quarters. BOB & G4

2nd Ashburner’s Jodanzac Joyful Event. A size bigger all through and stronger in head than my preference. Strong neck. Good depth of chest. Well ribbed back. Little longer in loin that the winner. Well made hindquarters. Moved soundly.

1st Walker’s Hedgefield Brucey Baby. Well balanced all through. Head well proportioned with broad skull. Strong neck leading to good layback of shoulder. Elbows close to body. Level topline. Well ribbed back. Muscled hindquarters. Strong hocks. True mover. Harsh coat. RBOB

2nd Nash’s Tiggy of House Nash. Well balanced bitch. Good head. Not quite strength in muzzle as winner. Good shoulder. Well ribbed. Harsh coat. Moving a little close behind

1st Nash’s Ralph of House Nash. 4 y. Cracking dog. Good overall balance. Super outline. Well proportioned head with broad skull and wedge shaped muzzle. I loved his expression - he demanded attention at all times. Strong neck leading to correct layback of shoulder and corresponding return of upper arm. Good depth of chest. Well ribbed back with short loin. Strong quarters with good width of second thigh. Good driving movement. Hard, wirey coat. The more I asked the more he gave. BOB, G1 and delighted to see him win BIS.

2nd Walker’s Roxypark Springtime. Little longer cast than winner. Good head proportions. Slightly arched neck. Good forehand construction. Deep chest. Level topline. Well made hindquarters with good width of second thigh. Moved well. Harsh coat.

Moderate length of neck leading to well laid shoulder and return of upper arm. Well sprung ribcage and short loin. Well made hindquarters. Moved positively on good stride. Harsh coat. BP & PG4

1st Hardwicke’s Norowic Mistress of Magic. 15 month. Well balanced. Head nicely proportioned with well set ears. Strong neck. Chest of good depth and width. Sturdy legs. Well sprung ribcage with short loin. Level topline and tail well carried. Strong hindquarters. Harsh coat. Moved with good reach and drive which clinched her BOB.

1st Martin’s Tinkave Brown Eyed Girl at Kirmir. 3 year. Excellent overall balance. Good head with correct earset. Strong neck. Deep chest elbows tight to body. Good topline. Well sprung rib. Short loin. Well made hindquarters. Moved on good stride but not quite the drive of the post graduate winner in the challenge. Good coat. RBOB

AVNSC Terrier

1st Smith’s Foxindean Fantastic Voyage at Lozek. Fox Terrier (smooth haired). 7 months. Good overall balance Long, narrow head. Smooth cheeks. Clean neck. Good depth of chest. Short back with level topline and correct tail set. Moved well once he got into his stride. BP & PG2

1st Fuller’s Jabu Hussey. Jack Russell. 17 months. Excellent overall balance. Head well proportioned. Clean neck. Well laid shoulder. Deep chest. Tight elbows. Well ribbed. Strong hindquarters. Low hocks. Accurate movement fore and aft with good stride when viewed in profile.

1st Harman’s Darlaur Dragon Slayer. Fox Terrier (Smooth Haired) 3 year. Excellent overall balance. Lean head with clean checks. Good length of neck. Correct shoulder and return of upper arm. Chest deep and narrow. Well ribbed. Short back. Correct tailset. Well muscled hindquarters. Moved accurately with good drive.

1st Pagram’s Ch Torcraig Sea Pearl. Scottish Terrier. Well balanced all through showing excellent outline. Long head with flattish skull and clean cheek bones. Good strong jaw. Muscular neck. Deep chest with well defined brisket and big ribcage. Short back leading to correct tail set. Strong hindquarters with well bent stifles. Moved on good stride. Although her coat was not at its absolute best she was a worthy winner. BOB & G2

2nd Barraclough’s Pocahontas At Wemoway. Skye. Good overall balance. Long head with slight stop and strong muzzle. Good length of neck. Deep chest with long level body. Well made hindquarters. Moved well but not quite drive of winner. Excellent coat texture.

1st Nolcini’s Holbam Celtic Kate ShCM. Irish Terrier. Well balanced all through. Long head with flat skull and clean cheeks. Good length of neck leading to well laid shoulders. Deep in brisket and long in ribcage. Level topline. Strong hindquarters. Harsh coat. Moved well.

2nd Burrage’s Ch Komidion Night Music at Sametova. Cesky Well balanced all through. Good head and neck would prefer more dip behind the shoulder. Well ribbed back. Strong hindquarters. Excellent coat texture. Sound driving movement.


Reserve BOB Stakes

A great quality class to judge and all those shortlisted would have been worthy winners

1st Ulyatt’s Fenlark Legend of Cornhaze. Saluki. Elegant and well balanced all throught. Head long and narrow and of good width between the eyes. Well laid shoulders. Chest narrow but of good depth. Correct topline leading to well defined hip-bone. Moderate turn of stifle. Moved well on free effortless stride.

2nd Pounds-Longhurst’s Rosgar Dolly O’Dare Among Mossburn. Golden Retriever. Beautifully balanced all through. Excellent head with good chiselling beneath the eyes. Excels in her forehand construction. Level topline. Well ribbed back to short loin. Well made hindquarters. Moved well both fore and aft and when viewed in profile showed good length of stride. Excellent bone and feet.
