Spaniel (Cocker)
Special Yearling (8,1)
A difficult class to judge as the class ages ranged from a six month old baby to a nearly twenty-four month yearling. All at very different stages in development.
1st Charlaza Tommy Tucker
This six month old chap won the class on his overall shape and outline. His head is appealing with a kind eye. He is developing in the right way, good neck in to well set shoulders, stands on well boned legs with body of correct proportions, ribs good for his age and loin short. Quarters are correctly angulated with stifles well bent. Best Puppy in Breed.
2nd Eddeswarren Temptress
This young lady was rising 18 months, again has a good overall outline but not quite the front angulation of the winner. Very feminine in head and of good overall proportions. Shoulders OK, body well made. Would have liked a little more bend of Stifle. Moved out well to take this place.
3rd Squiretime Samba
Postgraduate (4,2)
1st Shivani Summer Breeze
Nice type of bitch but I would have liked a little more of her for my tastes. Feminine in head with a pleasing expression. Shoulders well placed, needs to drop in to her front but will do that in time. Good through the body with ribs springing nicely and loin short and firm. Moved out well to take the class.
2nd Poppycroft Solo Flyer
This lady was fighting her handler on the stack all the way today. She moved out really well today with good drive. She has a good front on her with shoulders well placed. Ribs good for her age, a tad long in loin but firm. Quarters well made with stifles well bent.
Open (5,1)
1st Sandlauga Magic Spell for Shivani
This solid black had a lot to like about him, head is masculine with plenty of chiselling to enhance his expression. Scored in front angulation over the second placed dog. Neck good in to wells set shoulders, good sloping shoulders. Compact body, ribs well sprung and a short loin. Quarters well made with stifles well bent, in firm overall condition. Moved out well, held his topline on the move and his tail didn’t stop wagging. Delighted to award him Best of Breed.
2nd Fonesse Fingibson in Gwbert JW ShCM
Another good black but not quite the outline of the winner today, nor the forward extension on the move. Head piece is pleasing with a kind eye. Clean neck in shoulder. Stands on well boned legs. Ribs well sprung, a shade longer in loin than Magic Spell. Quarter well made with stifles well bent. Moved out well in profile but was a little untidy as he came towards me so had to be content with second and then Reserve Best of Breed.
3rd Poppycroft Solo Flyer
Hungarian Vizsla
Open (6,1)
1st Tossneer Sophronia
2 years old bitch who I found very typy. Her outline is classic, not overdone in any way. Clean in neck into well set shoulders. Legs well boned and she has neat feet. Enough depth of chest and spring of rib. Moderately angled quarters. Had good footfall would have just liked her a better carriage on the move but this was a minor point. Best of Breed.
2nd Sargasbarna Rocket Man by Pirospont
Young chap, still a puppy, who is very forward for his age. Good overall shape. Head masculine with good proportions. Neck strong, into well set shoulders, good depth in front and stands on well boned legs. Balanced angles front and rear. Quarters well made. Sound on the move with a good action. Difficult decision between this chap and the and the winner but for my tastes, I would just have liked a little less of him. Reserve Best of Breed and Best Puppy.
German Wirehaired Pointers
Open (2,1)
1st Dregheda if I Were Single
Stood alone in the class, substantial girl, well made. Good head shape on her with pleasing furnishings. Good angles front and rear. Carrying a couple of extra pounds today and would have liked her coat a little harsher. Moved out well with drive. Best of Breed.
Spaniels Welsh Springer
Postgraduate (8,0)
1st Amberlight Cassiopeia
Two year old male who it transpired was the son of my Best of Breed winner. Judged him as a youngster so pleased to see how he has come on. I liked him for size, not over done in anyway. I thought him very typical. He has a good head with chiselling and definition. Super neck into shoulders and good angles fore and aft. He has a decent return of upper arm. Good depth of chest, ribs well sprung and a firm loin. Drove off his rear with a good action, best mover in the class.
2nd Amberlight Ophelia
Litter sister to the winner and very similar in type and style. A bitch of very good overall type, with pleasing head and expression would have just liked a better eye shape. Strong neck in to shoulders which are well laid back, just a tad short in upper arm. Well boned legs and good feet. Stifles well bent, well angulated quarters which were well-muscled. Moved well just carried her tail a shade high.
3rd Nyliram Twist and Shout with Barhi
Open Dog (6,3)
1st Glenbrows Van Gough for Benoveor JW
A smart dog with a pleasing head and expression, clean in outline. Decent front assembly on him, shoulders well placed and a good strong neck. Good well boned legs. Ribs well sprung and a firm loin. Quarters well made with a good bend of stifle on him. Moved out well in side profile but not quite as accurate as Sunglow up and down so gave way and therefore Reserve Best of Breed.
2nd Amberlight Galatea
This five year old chap had a good outline on him and moved out well, I would have just liked a little more width in body. Good head piece on him which had a masculine expression. Well-made front on him, shoulders are correctly set. Quarters are well developed but I would like a shade more bend of stifle to compete the picture. Another offspring of my Best of Breed winner.
3rd Ir Ch Kylowen Drym ShCM
Open Bitch (4,0)
1st Amberlight Sunglow
I loved this bitch, thought she was top drawer and very pleased to see that she has passed on her positive attributes to her children who also did well under me today. Beautiful headed bitch, nearly seven years old. She has the softest of expressions. Strong neck leading in to well-placed shoulders with a decent return of upper arm. Standing on good legs and neat feet. Ribs and loin well proportioned. Strong quarters which were well muscled. She presented with a super clean outline. Fluid on the move with a good action. Best of Breed.
2nd Benoveor Field of Dreams to Kurzeja
Another bitch of very good overall type, another with a super head and expression. Well chiselled and a good eye. Strong neck in to shoulders which are well laid back, a tad short in upper arm. Well boned legs and good feet would have liked a shade more length of leg. Stifles well bent and well angulated quarters. Not as tidy in front as the winner, nor the drive today.
3rd Kylowen Demelza
AVNSC Gundog
Post Graduate
1st Braccorions Never Say Never – Best AVNSC (Bracco Italiano)
Last judged this young lady as a very young puppy when I thought she was promising, so delighted to see her again, now aged 17 months. I still liked her a lot. Her head piece is elegant with good shape and divergent head planes. Well-made body of good proportions. Good angles front and rear. Excellent front assembly stands on well boned legs and oval feet. Needs to drop in to her front and spring in rib which she will do as she matures. Quarters well developed with hocks well let down. Good action on the move but needs to get her act together to complete the picture. Best AVNSC Gundog and later delighted to watch her top the Gundog Group – Many congratulations!
2nd Kingsmist Agatha Christie at Winsbrook (Field Spaniel)
Another I judged as a youngster, so please to see her now nearly 18 months of age. Black bitch, her head is pleasing. Good eye and expression. Good front assembly on her, shoulders well placed and standing on good legs with flat bone, feet need to tighten a little. Body of good proportion, ribs springing nicely and firm through the loin. Quarters well made, stifles moderately bent. Sound on the move. Just needs a little finish to complete the picture which I am sure will happen in time as she matures.
3rd Maursett Minerva at Nakuru (Best AVNSC Puppy) (Clumber Spaniel)
Open
1st Prussia Best Kept Secret of Winsbrook (Field Spaniel)
Liver boy rising six in a couple of months. I thought he had a pleasing head and masculine expression, would have liked a tighter eye. Well made with a good front assembly. Good depth to chest and well boned legs with flat bone. Body of Good proportions, ribs well sprung and firm loin, held his topline well. Moved out well, good action and footfall.
2nd Bondadosa Beach ShCM (Spanish Water Dog)
One I have judged before now 4 years old. I liked his head which was expressive and with good proportions. Short strong neck and well laid-back shoulders and correct height to length ratio. For me I would like a little more width in rib, firm through the loin. Coat in good condition, he is well-muscled and he moved out well.
AV Import Register
Open
1st Ojons Ghost Rider De L’Aige De La Tournelle Shepalian (White Swiss Shepherd Dog)
This chap took my attention as he entered the ring and dig not disappoint. He presented a balanced picture and was free from exaggerations. He has a harsh white coat, his head is masculine with flat skull and intelligent dark eye. Excelled on the moved soundly with good drive and forward extension. Held his topline well. Best AV Import Register
2nd Elmstracker Glacial Force (Bavarian Mountain Hound)
A super class with two Bavarian Mountain Hounds. This four and half year old chap was well balanced, muscular and slightly longer than tall as the standard calls for. His head was masculine with a pleasing expression although I would have liked a slightly better eye shape. Strong in neck into well laid shoulders. Body well made with quarters well developed. Covered the ground well on the move just not quite as tidy in front action as the WSSD, which was the deciding factor.
3rd Khyannes Valence at Covarney (Braque D’Auvergne)
Smart youngster, presents a good outline. Head of good proportion with good width of skull. Clean in neck, in to a decent lay back of shoulders, just a shade loose in elbow. Level in topline, body of good proportion, ribs well back and a good finish to his croup. Well angulated quarters. Drove off his quarters well but rather untidy in front. Best Puppy AV Import Register and later delighted to watch him top the Puppy Group, many congratulations.
AV Champion Stakes
1st Ch Snowshoes King’s Legacy (Alaskan Malamute)
What a boy, this was his day. Upstanding dog all male and full of breed type. Even though we didn’t have the biggest ring for him to go in, his movement was effortless and he was clearly driving off his rear. He out moved everything in the class. He has a superb outline on him and was showed to total advantage. I could not deny him the top spot in this very competitive class.
2nd Ch Chenrezi Summer Breeze JW Sh CM (Tibetan Spaniel)
Seven years young and really enjoying her day out. I liked her outline and overall balance which was of the correct proportions. He head is appealing with a feminine expression enhanced by a lovely dark eye. It was a tough class and she brought her A game today and strode out with that quick moving action that is called for.
3rd Ch Dacfolke Obie Odakota (Leonberger)
AV Puppy Stakes
1st Stanegate Billy the Kid (Dachshund Wire-Haired)
I liked this youngster. Presented a super outline of the stack, pleasing head. Good reach neck in to a good body which is well ribbed. Good through the topline with plenty of depth in forechest. Well-made hindquarters. He moved out soundly with plenty of drive from the rear.
2nd Travellerways Brianna (Bedlington Terrier)
Very close decision between this young lady and the winner. She has a lovely shape about her and a beautiful head and expression. Moved out well with the distinctive action. Please to hear afterwards that she also topped the Puppy Group on the day.
3rd Rivertone Head Above Water (Weimaraner)
