Thank you to the officers committee for the very kind invitation to judge Best in Show and to my steward who kept the ring running smoothly. I would also like to thank those who entered, I had some super classes to judge and it was nice to see and hear the results were taken well. A great atmosphere and a well-run show.

For BIS had the pleasure of judging some top class exhibits and I was really splitting hairs to get down to the final four. For Best in Show I choose the Welsh Springer Spaniel Graham and Hogstrom’s DON’S STATEMENT TO MYLIRAM (IMP SWE), a super chap who really excelled on the move and I though very typical of the breed. His head was masculine with a kind expression and well-made throughout. In the runner up spot was the Irish Red and White setter Gardnier’s ALANEA GAME RESERVE WITH DAWISH. I have seen this dog from the ringside but never had my hands on him and today he really impressed. Super on the move with a free flowing action, destined for the top drawer I would think. For BIS 3 was Donnelly’s GWP KIMMAX KNOCK YOURSELF OUT and BIS 4 was Way’s Sussex Spaniel EALD VILLAGE PACHER FOR SHUVICK JW who had won through the breed under me earlier on in the day.

As with the main group I thought the puppies we top quality and I was delighted to award Best Puppy in Show to Whincup and Glendinning PARTISKY TWERKING DVIGIE (American Cocker Spaniel), what a little stunner, still has a some developing to do but he excelled on the move to take the top spot. Reserve Best Puppy in Show was Graham EALD DANCES WITH WOLVES AMONG NYLIRAM (Sussex Spaniel)who I think is a very promising youngster, excellent on the move for one so young, as he had to win this spot today. Puppy Group three was the delightful Chesapeake Bay Retriever Mahon’s ARNAC BAY HURON and Puppy Group four Gilder and Blunden MIKETTE MINI MI MILIONI (Lagotto Romagnolo)

Sussex Spaniels

Puppy

A super class with some lovely puppies to start this breed

1st EALD DANCES WITH WOLVES AMONG NYLIRAM

What a cracking puppy this young man. Good shape about him, head piece has plenty of work in it and already has a super expression. Strong through the neck in to a decent front assembly, stands on good legs and feet. Good over all shape and size. For one so young he moved liked he owned the ring and delighted to award him Best Puppy and later Reserve Best Puppy in Show. This he is very promising, I will follow his career with interest.

2nd EALD DANCING DIAMOND

Litter sister to the winner and with the same positive attributes, just not as together as in development. Head in pleasing with a good overall shape, good angle front and rear. Would just like a shade more length of leg to balance her out but still very much in the growing stage so has plenty if time. Had a good attitude on the move just needs to find her feet.

3rd EALD DANCING QUEEN

Junior

1st EALD DANCING DIAMOND

2nd LAMBORGHINI ALESSI ANGELS FOR EALD (IMP UKR)

Another youngster, just six months old and has already got a good length of leg on him. Very raw at the moment. His head is developing nicely with good balance to it. Good length of neck in to a decent front assembly. Stands on well boned legs and good feet. Body of good proportions and for his age ribs have depth. Quarters developing as they should. Moved out well for one so young.

Post Graduate

1st EALD VILLAGE POACHER FOR SHUVICK JW

I loved this chap just rising 20 months and so typically a Sussex who just excelled on the move with that typical action and distinctive roll. His head is masculine, correctly proportioned with that distinctive brow. Lovely eye that enhanced his expression. Good front assembly with well-set shoulder. Standing on well boned legs. Good depth to chest for his age, firm back and strong through the loin. Well-proportioned rear quarters, good muscle tone and coat in good overall condition. Still needs to finish but with maturity I think he will be one to watch, delighted to award him Best of Breed and later BIS4.

2nd EALD VILLAGE TEMPTRESS

I see that this lady is litter sister to the winner and has many of the same positive attributes. Very pretty in head and a typical expression, strong through the neck. Not quite the front of the winner, would like a little more return of upper arm. Body of good proportions with ribs well sprung and quarters well made with good rear angles. Not as composed as her brother on the move but a decent footfall.

Well-muscled up and in really firm condition. Coat in good condition, would have just like a little more leg length on her. Thank you for bringing her. Reserve Best of Breed

2nd EALD VILLAGE GOSSIP

This was another good bitch from this kennel who was lovely to go over. I liked her a lot on the stack but she threw it away on the move. Head of good shape with a pleasing expression. Body well proportioned, chest well developed and firm in loin. Just had a tendency to lose her topline a little when she moved today.
