Field Spaniels

As a last minute replacement I was very grateful for the entry today and to the sporting way exhibitors took my decisions, it was great to hear applause around the ring. The highlight of the day was the super puppy class. It was lovely to see some super young Fields, all at different stages in development but a lot of promising youngsters in the class, really encouraging for the breed.

1st: Fecimus Chase the Dream to Ewtor

Smart young man with a lot to like about him, scored over the second on movement and outline but I suspect that these two will change places on many occasions. Head still needs to break but plenty of work in it at this age so should finish well, eye colour and shape ok. Good neck into his shoulders, legs well boned for his age, feet need to tighten a little. Body of good proportions, ribs as they should be at this age. Quarters are developing well. Moved like a little train around the ring. Delighted to award him Best Puppy.

2nd Prince Artur vom Belauer See at Nadavin (Imp DEU)

Preferred the head piece on this chap but not as coordinated with his legs today as the winner. Smart boy with bags of potential and progressing in all the right directions. Good shape on the stack with a pleasing outline and overall balance. Well-made in body with a firm topline and quarters have good angulation.

2nd Kingsmist Phryne Fischer ar Broomeece

Stood third in the competitive puppy class and that was no disgrace, she really scored on the move with a good profile action. Head still needs to break and eyes need to darken but has time on her side for those elements. Well-developed neck in to a good front assembly. I liked her overall shape and make up and her young handler really got the best out of her on the move to take this place. Has bags of potential, good luck with her.

1st: Ewtor Gin Fizz

Best outline in the class on this young lady, head is pleasing with a feminine expression. Neck good, shoulders well placed. Decent amount of bone which was flat, would have liked her a little tighter in elbow and neater feet. Good overall body proportions and quarters developing well. Best for drive in the class with a good profile action, would have just like her foot fall a little tidier.

2nd Winterbourne True Love For Mishules (Swed Imp)

Have judged this lady a couple of time recently. Head is pleasing, plenty of work in it so should finish well. Good front assembly on her, shoulders well placed and standing on good legs with flat bone, feet need to tighten a little. Body of good proportion, ribs springing nicely and firm through the loin. Quarters well made, stifles moderately bent. Sound on the move just rather untidy in front action as she came towards me.

1st: HOLGATE Mrs J & Mr C Sh Ch Nadavin Thistledown JW

This was a top class exhibit she has a super clean outline, feminine with substance & yet an elegant side to her. She has a beautiful head & expression so typical of the breed, defined chiselling under the eyes and a pleasing expression. Clean reach of neck which led into correctly placed shoulders and a good return of upper arm. Standing on good well boned legs, would just have liked slightly neater feet. Correct depth to her forechest & ribs well sprung. Firm through the loin. Super quarters which are well developed, in super coat & condition. She excelled on the move with super footfall and the correct amount of drive. Delighted to award her Best of Breed.

2nd: Ewtor Affinity for Flyenpyg JW

I liked this lady on the stack as she has clean outline and balance about her. A good profile action on the move and a good footfall, just a little untidy behind. Head was pleasing, good over all shape and an appealing expression. Clean neck in to shoulder, which were well placed. Well boned legs with the correct flat bone. Decent amount of spring to her ribs and firm through her loin. Quarters are well developed with moderately bent stifles. Has more finish that the last time I judged her and maturing up nicely. Pleased to award her Reserve Best of Breed.
