English Cocker Spaniel

Class 112 Puppy dog/bitch (2:1)

First: Matthew’s SONHAM JIMMY CHOO

A smart orange roan puppy of 7 months. Lovely head with square muzzle and a tight dark eye. Good deep chest with good spring and depth of rib. He is balanced which showed in his movement. He moved very well with a Merry cocker action and held his topline throughout. A real showman. BPIB. I was delighted to see him awarded with RBPIS.

Class 113 Junior - no entries

Class 114 Yearling dog/bitch (3:0)

First: Wright’s Chazbaz Glam Girl

A balanced black bitch presenting a short and square outline. She has a lovely head with a melting expression. She moved with good reach and drive holding a level topline. Good tight feet and she is well muscled. RBOB

Second: Rofe’s Oakrosa Raiden

A black dog with a good head with well defined stop. He has a strong body with good rib. Moved well. I preferred the overall compactness of one.

Third: Hall’s Hey Georgie Boy at Shirrmontana

Class 115 Novice - no entries

Class 116 Post Graduate dog/bitch (7:3)

First: Wildman’s Reemif Midnight Blue for Shanmalow Sh CM.

A smart blue roan dog presenting a balanced outline. A masculine head which is not overdone. Good eyes with a gentle expression. He has excellent bone, good width and depth of forechest, well laid back shoulders, well sprung ribs with good length and depth. He moved very well with drive and holding his topline. In excellent coat and condition. Best of breed. I was pleased to see he was shortlisted in a very large, strong group.

Second: Rofe’s Oakrosa Raiden (seen dog)

Third: Hall’s Hey Georgie Boy at Shirrmontana

Res: Lockwood’s Zakova Fire Dancer

Class 117 Open Dog/Bitch (1:0)

First: Hall’s Hey Georgie Boy at Shirrmontana

Blue roan masculine dog with a pleasing head with square muzzle and a well defined stop. He has a well developed forechest and ribbing. However, I would have preferred a less upright shoulder and unfortunately his topline was not level on the move. His very happy disposition was evident and he was well presented by his handler.

Class 118 Veteran Dog or Bitch (1:1)

First Cox’s Severn Softly Spoken

An 8.5 years blue roan dog who stood alone. He is compact in outline. He has a masculine head and good ribbing. He moved steadily holding his topline.

Handling classes

Adult 17 - 35 no entries

Adult 36+ years (2:0)

In this class the handlers were asked to go around, complete a triangle, move in a letter T shape as well as in straight lines. Both handlers did well.

First: Daisy Toublic An excellent example of good handling. The dog was moved at a good pace and she kept the dog in my sight at all times. The handler was calm and sensitive towards her dog. They were in complete harmony. She executed the shapes she was asked to complete accurately including the T shape which was executed with precision.

Second: Francis McKenna Another good example of sound handling. She moved her dog at a steady pace for the breed. For the most part she kept her dog in my sight but found the T shape a little challenging and I lost sight of the dog at one point. This will be easily remedied with a little practice. However, she was in tune with her dog and handled her dog well overall.
