Open Show

Saturday 9th November 2019

May I convey my thanks to the society for their kind invitation to judge Dobermann Bitches at this show, their lovely welcome and superb organisation. Thank you to the exhibitors who supported my entry and their sporting acceptance of my placings. It was a great honour to go over the beautiful dogs.  Finally, thank you to my Stewards Emma Brown and Heather Shelson, who kept the ring running so well and smoothly throughout. I thoroughly enjoyed my day.

Dobermann Bitches

PB (1) 1. Knight’s Shalissas Holy Smoke at Jesnah – 8 months, brown and tan. A lively youngster, who made her handler work, but nice to see her enjoying the ring. Appealing expression, long and lean reach of neck which flows nicely into a slightly sloping topline. Moved truly coming and going. Stood well, when settled. Has much potential to mature beautifully BPB.

JB (0)

PGB (2) 1. Mycroft’s Supeta’s Put A Spell On You JW – 19 months, black and tan. What a quality bitch, medium size, presented in muscular condition. Head was elongated wedge with great depth of muzzle and dark oval eye. Straight front legs upon tight catlike feet. Body square with a firm, strong, straight topline. Correct turn of stifle and toned hindquarters, which effectively used to drive forward. Powerful, vigorous movement. A very balanced bitch, who was bold and alert throughout. Best Bitch in Breed and RBB. 2. Salisbury & Ralph’s – 18 months, black and tan. Another quality bitch, similar qualities to 1. Appealing head and super reach of neck into a firm topline. Great shoulder placement. Moved so fluently, with great reach and drive. Shown beautifully and pushed hard against my 1st place who was slightly more compact overall.

OB (3,1) 1. Tinsley’s Sherrebenca Magic Potion – 4 years, black and tan. Her head – a correct elongated wedge, lovely dark eye. Good reach of neck and well developed forechest. Short strong back, level topline and neat tuck up. Correct turn of stifle and Strong hindquarters. A sound mover and stood so true at every angle. 2. Webb’s Shalissa’s Siriusly Stunin (ai) JW – 2 years 8 months, black and tan. A strong bitch, with much presence. A great head and melting expression. Elegant, long length of neck flowing into a good topline and tailset. Moved with purpose, very sound coming and going. A larger type overall than 1, but also a lovely bitch.

Best of Breed, judged and awarded jointly with the Male Dobermann Judge Alan Carter (Alamiks). This is my critique of Open Dog – Webb’s Shalissa’s Siriusly Costly (ai) JW – 2 years 8 months, black and tan, male. What an impressive powerhouse of a dog. A super head piece, with great depth of muzzle and the darkest of eyes. Strong, muscular neck flowing into a firm topline and well set tail. Correct shoulder placement, tight elbows, straight legs and deep brisket. Moved with great reach, drive and fit for his job of work – this dog could go all day. He owned the ring today and had the slight edge in the challenge for his show presence. I was really pleased to see him awarded Group 2.
