May I convey my thanks to the society for their kind invitation to judge Chihuahuas at this show, their fabulous welcome, organisation, hospitality and generous gift. Thank you to the exhibitors who supported my entry and their sporting acceptance of my placings. It was a great honour to go over so many beautiful dogs, that made my decisions very challenging at times. Finally, thank you to my Steward Denise Hurst, who kept the ring running so well and smoothly throughout. I thoroughly enjoyed my day.
Chihuahua L/C
P (4, 1) 1. Waterworth’s Barwater Miss Marple – 11 mth tri bitch. Beautiful outline and appealing expression. Lovely dark round eyes and large flaring ears. Super ruff, pants and plumed tail completed a very attractive picture. Attentive to her handler throughout. Moved soundly, holding a firm topline, a real showgirl who easily demands the spotlight. Awarded BPIB, never stopped showing, looked amazing and pleased to see her shortlisted in the group. 2. Emmerson’s Ismirelle’s Parti Pooper – 10 mth red and white male. A gorgeous soft expression with great dark pigment. Good reach of neck flowing into a level topline. Correct sickle tail carried high throughout. Presented in lovely condition and a very sound mover. Unfortunate to meet 1 today and could easily change place on another occasion.
J (7, 1) 1. Entwistle’s Dorenty’s Fancy That – 14 mth fawn sable bitch. Nothing overdone, but oozed quality. A very pretty girl indeed. Saucy expression, moderately short muzzle, with beautiful dark round eyes, using perfectly placed flaring ears to her advantage. Dainty feet and a compact outline. Firm topline held when standing and moving. A compact girl who moved with reach and drive. So very sound in every way. Beautiful flat coat, with sufficient ruff. Attentive to her handler and looked a natural in the ring. Very pleased to award her BOB. 2. Wills Dorentys Chewi Veeton – 14 mth cream dog. I found out later, this boy is litter brother to 1 and much of the same applies. This dog has a softer expression than his Sister, also very appealing. very true coming and going. Today the Sister had the edge for her saucy attitude.
PG (6,2) 1. Daly’s Lozmarchi Macs Midnight – 13 mth tri dog. Such a happy, compact, dainty boy, totally at one with his handler. Dark round eyes, domed head, good stop, large flaring ears, just loved the way he looked at his handler. Sufficient reach of neck into a very firm, level topline. Moved with reach and drive, very true coming and going. Lovely coat condition. Perfect turn of stifle and hocks let down. Much appreciated the combination of this dog being dainty with a beautiful outline. A very worthy RBOB. 2. Waterworth’s Barwater Black Majic – 2yrs tri bitch. So very pretty and appealing expression. Lovely straight front, enhanced by a beautiful pure white ruff. Slightly longer than 1, but so very balanced. A sound mover who covered the ground well. On this occasion, just preferred the confidence and gay spirit of 1.
O (5,1) 1. Wills Dorentys Dazzlin Duncan – 2 ½ yr substantial cream male - lovely dog full of presence. Apple domed head with dark, round appealing eyes and large flaring ears. Level topline leading into a nice tailset. Alert to his handler, moved and stood well. 2. Wills Dorentys Ello Vera – 4 yr cream bitch – another lovely dog from this kennel. I found out later she is Dam to this class 1st and my BOB. What a pretty and sound bitch. A sassy girl who moved around the ring with ease. Good straight front and rear angulation. Shown with a lovely coat and condition.

Good spring of rib, with straight legs and tight elbows. Sufficient turn of stifle and hocks well let down. Moved well when he found his feet on the slightly slippy floor. Stood well in the challenge, a promising young man and one to watch. 2. Hunt’s Moltobello My Time To Shine – 6 mnts cream male – what a happy boy he is, lovely to see a youngster so confident. Her body is so correct, balanced and sound. Level topline, sickle tail. Moved well in all directions. Another quality bitch.
O (6,1) 1. Hunt’s Valenchino Mocking Jay For Moltobello – 4 ½ yrs fawn male - one I have admired from ringside, but even better hands on - well constructed apple domed head, moderately short muzzle, expressive eyes with a melting, saucy expression. Shoulders well laid, straight legs, dainty feet, spirit level topline, good spring of rib, lovely turn of stifle and hocks well let down. Sickle tail. His movement was brisk as he took it all in his stride, what a showman. Perfectly sound at every angle. Totally at one with his handler, who he continuously looks attentively and adoringly towards. This gay, spirited little man is a fine example of the breed, a worthy BOB and pleased to see him hold his own to be shortlisted in a strong Toy group. 2. Holland – Smith’s – Diamonchi Shine Like a Star - 2yrs cream bitch – what a pretty girl, lovely dark pigment, appealing, feminine expression and used her large flaring ears to full advantage. Medium size, compact and dainty. Tail carried well. Despite initially being unsettled on the move, eventually demonstrated good reach, drive and sound at all angles. A lovely type of quality bitch that held my eye throughout, she completes a beautiful picture moving and standing.
