Guildford & District Canine Society Open Show

Sunday 8th December 2019

Miss Anne Bryson (Inukshuk)

Thank you to the Committee for inviting me to judge at such a wonderful Show, and to my fabulous Steward. To those who entered, thank you for braving the cold and bringing me your lovely dogs to assess. I was particularly mindful of the lean, hard, working condition that should be expected in this sled dog breed especially at this time of year.

PUPPY (2) Super typey puppies, full of confidence and joy. Both displayed good proportions, length of leg and lovely temperaments. Puppies should always look immature and not miniature adults in this slow maturing breed and these did not disappoint.

1) Brown, Dr K and Mr J: ZARCHENSKI TABOO ZILP AT POCKETSIBES 6 month old grey and white bitch with a pretty head, still to grow into her ears. Good front and shoulder angulation, level topline held strong on the move. Good rear angulation, would prefer a little less slope to croup but correct tailset with tail held nicely on the move. Lovely tight oval feet but would prefer more slope to pasterns and expect these will relax with maturity. Excelled on movement, floating around the ring with a presence rarely seen in one so young. A joy! Presented and handled to advantage. BPIB and very pleased to see her win WPG4. I will watch her develop with interest.
2) Sinclair: ZARCHENSKI COUNTES MUSGROV OF LESAMIAN 6 month old black and white bitch, related to 1st but not littermates. Pretty, typical Siberian head with a gentle, mischievous expression. Good front and shoulder angulation leading into a level topline and good tailset. Better pasterns than 1st, but would still like to see them relax a little more with maturity. Full of fun on the move, thoroughly enjoying her experience in the ring as she should, although her handler may disagree after he was made to work so hard! Another lovely puppy to watch.

POST GRADUATE (3)

1) Sinclair: SALAZKA SERAPHINA PICQUERY AT LESAMIAN 2 year old almost solid black bitch who really is one you have to get your hands on and measure in detail to fully appreciate. Her dark colour can easily blend into the background, but step by step she is the very definition of moderate and could not be denied her placings today. A gorgeous foxy head with excellent high earset, and sweet mischievous expression. Excellent shoulder angulation, with matched rear. Super croup, tailset and carriage. Good length of loin. Being picky I would prefer a little more slope to pasterns. Superb double coat, good muscling throughout and smooth flowing gait. Very happy to award her BOB.

2) Johns: AZGARD KAPMA FOR ALPENKYE JW 2 year old grey and white bitch who I last judged as a puppy. Her head is still super feminine, with correct ear set, obliquely set almond shaped eyes and kindly alert expression. Good shoulder angulation, length of back and loin. Excellent rear. Being picky I would prefer a little more slope to croup but correct tailset and carriage. Good slope to pasterns, and correct feet. Good coat and excellent muscling. Strong topline but she wasn’t as smooth on the move today on the out and back, and ultimately this cost her, but her length of stride and ground covering gait was enough to take another RBOB from me.

3) Brown, Mrs E L: POLARCREEK TAIYA

OPEN (2)

1) Brown Mrs E L: DESHKA’S CASSIAR DYR FOR POLARCREEK JW nearly 3 year old grey and white bitch I last judged as a 19 month old. A very pretty feminine head, lovely almond shaped obliquely set eyes, gentle expression, but has not quite grown into her ears. Ratios good and excellent angulation front and rear, croup and tail carriage. Pasterns too straight and feet slightly flat. Erratic on the move today and not working with her handler at all. She didn’t have the muscle condition of her competition in the Challenge.

2) Johns: RAJARANI KOKO FOR ALPENKYE JW Now 9 years old, this black and white bitch still brings a smile. She really is a pleasure to meet in the ring; her enjoyment and bond with her handler clear to see. Age is sadly starting to catch up with her, carrying a little extra weight and not as well conditioned now. Nevertheless, angles as they should be and lovely feet.
