Thank you to the committee for hosting such a pleasant show. Also, huge thanks go out to my steward, who worked tirelessly all day to ensure the smooth running of the ring.

English Setter

Puppy (3,2)

1. RIDSDILL’s SHARNYX GLACIER ICE

10mo dog. Promising head with oval eye and well defined stop. Good width across shoulders and excellent length of upper arm. Held his topline well on the move and showed drive. A little loose in front on the move at present. Lovely coat condition. BPIB

Special Yearling (1,1)

1. NAULLS’ SUNNY SIDE UP

20mo dog displaying a clean outline and elegant mover. Kind expression and liked his head very much. Good depth of chest and well sprung ribs. Silky coat and well feathered. Movement was more settled in the challenge. RBOB

Limit (4,2)

1. WHITING & GRANT’s SILMANHURST THOMSON BROOK AT ORMSTIGA JUN CH CJW17

4yo dog. Good head and well defined stop. Correct upper arm and good width across shoulders. Well ribbed and short coupled. Displayed good reach and drive and held his topline well on the move.

2. RIDSDILL’s TATTERSETT BURNT SUGAR AT SHARNYX

4yo bitch with elegant expression. Liked her clean outline. Good front construction and well ribbed. Preferred the rear movement of 1.

Open (3,0)

1. NAULL’s SILMANHURST GOLDEN HUGO

5yo dog. Best head in the class. Excellent front angulation and good bone. Strong pasterns and standing on tight feet. Showed excellent drive with accurate footfall. Held his topline well on the move and shown in good coat. BOB

2. WHITING & GRANT’s IR SH CH ALBADORA MAKE A STAND AT ORMSTIGA CW14/16

8yo dog. Correct ear set and good dentition for age. Good bone and front construction. Held his topline well on the move.

3. RIDSDILL’s KOOLUNGA BONNIE LASS

Irish Setter

Puppy (2,0)

1. BOX’s FERNSTART BABY GUINNESS

7mo typey bitch. Presents a clean outline when stood. Correct head with well pronounced stop and occiput. Good bone and tight feet. Moved gracefully and with drive. BPIB.

2. WHITE’s PADUAN EASTER HOPE

7mo bitch. A little unsettled today. Much the same comments apply as above – lovely outline and head. Racy and athletic on the move. Would like more substance.

Special Yearling (2,1)

1. TURNER’s GWENDARIFF I WONT FORGETU

17mo dog full of substance. This young man caught my eye when he came into the ring. Shown in excellent coat and condition. Lovely expression. Good head and tail carriage and moved out with excellent reach and drive. Well ribbed and good angulation. Pleased to award him BOB and to see him shortlisted in the group.

1. TURNER’s GLENNLOKHEN BRUICHLADDICH

3yo dog with correct head & well developed muzzle. Lovely intelligent expression. Well off for bone. Good upper arm and spring of rib. Excellent condition and moved with drive around the ring. Pushed very hard in challenge. Pleased to award RBOB.

2. WHITE’s PADUAN SUNNY DISPOSITION

2yo bitch shown in beautiful coat. Stood on good legs and tight feet. Held her topline well on the move. Preferred the substance of 1.

1. BOX’s FERNSTART GOLDEN CHARM AT BLACKBOROUGH

7yo bitch with excellent bite and dentition for age. Liked her head and expression. Correct racy, athletic movement with accurate foot placement. Stood square with her tail constantly moving. A lovely example of the breed.

Retriever (Curly)

I was disappointed to see the varying degrees of excess weight carried by the exhibits today.

1. SOLOMON’s ELKYSAR DRESS TO IMPRESS

2yo liver bitch. Kind eye and wedge shaped head. Good front angulation and neat feet. Steady mover. Would prefer more length of neck.

1. MAHON & HUNN’s CURLABULL NEW YORK JET ShCM

5yo black dog. Typical wedge shaped head with neat ears and dark, oval-shaped eyes. Good front and rear angulation and moved elegantly around the ring. Shown in excellent coat with tight, defined curls. BOB

2. HURRELL’s BELLACURLYS HAMLTON MERC

4yo liver dog. Excellent front angulation and good length of upper arm. Ribs well sprung, but carrying too much weight. Showed his strength on the move. Preferred the head of 1. RBOB.

1. WARREN’s COOMBSTOCK MAGIC TOUCH AT TARNBROOK

11mo cream bitch. Beautiful expression and loved her head. Presented a balanced outline and angulation. Good substance and bone with strong pasterns and well let down hocks. Won her class on movement. BPIB

2. FOREMAN’s GOLMAS GALE WARNING AT AMBERSUN (AI)

8mo golden dog. Broad head, strong muzzle and correct earset. Good length of neck leading to well laid shoulders. Lovely coat condition and feathering. Appears to be going through a leggy phase at the moment.

3. HARVEY’s ICE RUM AND MINT DAGCHELLS

Junior (2,0)

1. KEENEY’s THORNYWAIT SING WITH ME

13mo golden dog with kind expression and excellent temperament. Well-developed chest and short coupled. Good bone and shown in excellent coat. Fantastic tail carriage and feathering.

2. THOMAS’ HESSONITE SLEEPYHEAD

16mo cream bitch. Kind eye and very graceful on the move. Good substance and bone. Just needs a little more spring of rib. A bright future for this lovely girl.

Post Graduate (8,2)

1. WELLS’ PEARLBARN PERONI

2yo golden dog. I was really impressed with his head and overall construction. Broad skull, well set ears, defined stop and wide muzzle. Good length of neck set on well laid shoulders. Moved straight and true, with drive and good length of stride. Still some maturing to do, but one I will watch with interest. A good honest dog. Pleased to award him RBOB and see him take Best RBOB in Show.

2. THOMAS’ HESSONITE SLEEPYHEAD as above. Won her placing on her movement in a competitive class.

3. ENEVOLDSEN’s VOLDENE GOODNIGHT’S DREAM

1. WELLS’ PEARLBARN POT OF GOLD

5yo cream dog. Broad skull, dark eye and kind expression. Lovely temperament. Liked his front construction and bone. Hocks well let down, straight on the move and when standing. Moved with power around the ring. Full of substance and shown in good condition.

2. BEESON’s ESINED TITANIA

Sweet 3yo cream girl. Liked her substance and front construction. Presented a balanced outline. Preferred the movement of 1.

3. BOWDEN’s GILLBRYAN DARE I SAY

Open (3,1)

1. FOREMAN’s CAMESTONE FIELD DAY AT AMBERSUN

4yo dog that demands your attention when in the ring. Lovely broad head and friendly expression. Excellent depth of chest and well sprung ribs leading onto strong, short loin and well-muscled hindquarters. Good bone and plenty of substance. Correct tail set and carried well on the move. Very positive mover and handled the adverse weather well. Pleased to award him BOB and see him shortlisted in the group.

2. BOWDEN’s OUSEVALE XTRAVAGANZA

Nearly 7yo bitch shown in excellent condition. Intelligent expression and calm temperament in the ring. Stood straight on tight round feet and strong pasterns. Good rear movement and presented a clean outline in profile.

Veteran (0,0)

Junior Handling Association

6-11 Years (5,2)

1. MEGAN SLACK

This polite young lady was well presented and was kind and attentive to her dog. Confidently showed all three sides of teeth and showed excellent pattern work.

2. KIERA BARBOR

Another well presented young lady. Confident in showing teeth and never broke the golden rule. Handled her lead well and moved at the correct pace for her dog.

3. SOPHIE MCALLISTER

Had a lovely rapport with her dog and showed good pattern work. Must remember to follow the golden rule, never getting between the judge and the dog.

12-16 Years (4,2)

1. HONEY BROWN

Very smart and attentive handler. Excellent shadowing and showed teeth efficiently. Accurate, clean patterns and moved in harmony with her dog. Best Junior Handler in Show.

2. MARKUS BIRCHAM

Could have been better presented, however stood his dog well and showed good technique on the move.

Adult Handling

17 – 45 Years (8,5)

1. TYE KITCHEN

Well presented, and had a lovely relationship with her dog. Stacked correctly and moved accurately at an appropriate pace. Elegant shadowing. Best Adult Handler in Show

2. MAY KENNEDY

Displayed good balance and teamwork. Showed teeth efficiently and switched lead hand seamlessly. Good patterns and pacing.

3. LAURA MACDONALD

Very close decision here. Again, had excellent relationship with her dog and moved at a correct pace. Aware of judge’s position in the ring and ensured she didn’t break the Golden rule.

46+ Years (7,4)

1. SHEILA BALDWIN

Very sympathetic handling shown today as her charge was not enjoying the harsh weather. Sheila moved accurately and worked hard to show her dog to its full potential. A lovely partnership and a very polite and positive lady in the ring.

2. EDWINA KENNEDY

Showed teeth confidently and shadowed well. Good pattern work and pacing. Unfortunately missed an opportunity to correct her dog’s rear foot when stacked.

3. CHRISTINE E WILSON

Much of the same comments apply as 2. Good pattern work and pacing, however I would like to see more communication between handler and dog in the ring.
