Breed: Breeders Competition

Leeds Championship Show 2019 The Kennel Club Breeders' Competition Working Group 1st: Moir's Newfoundlands. A well matched team, all wth good bone, good sized skulls and decent coats. Pastoral Group 1st: Flint's Pyrenean Sheepdogs L/H. A splendid group, really typical with alert, keen expressions, good body proportions and very typical action on the move. 2nd: Paterson - Swedish Vallhunds. These three impressed for type and quality, good heads with pleasing expressions, level toplines and good quarters. Their handler made a very good job of handling all three. Terrier Group 1st: Bamsey's Irish Terriers. A lovely family group, all had the desired racy outlines and typical temperament of the breed. Shown in good order and all moved freely and showed well. Toy Group 1st: Storey's Pugs. Topped a really good group and they scored here with their depth of quality and type. Attractive, good sized heads, cobby bodies and high set tails. All moved out with a most typical gait. 2nd: Mcllroy-Stracey's Miniature Pinschers. Another lovely group with plenty of quality. Alert, keen expressions, compactly built and ultra sound. 3rd: Smith's Pomeranians Utility Group 1st: Cund's French Bulldogs. A smashing team, typey and all with lovely heads, nicely cushioned muzzles and sturdy bodies with good bone and substance yet unexaggerated. Like the Pugs they moved well in a typical breed specific fashion. 2nd: Anderson's Lhasa Apsos. A lovely group from another very talented breeder. All alike for type and style, presented in immaculate condition, great ambassadors for the breed. Hound Group 1st: Melbourne & Isted's Basset Hounds. A grand trio all with good bone and substance; pleasing heads with clean eyes. Good body proportions and they all looked capable of a day's work. 2nd: Foote's Basset Griffon Vendeen (Petit). Typical and most appealing with their friendly, happy expressions, good showmanship, decent coats and good movement. 3rd: Cumberland's Dachshunds (Miniature Smooth-Haired) Gundog Group 1st: Chandler's Spaniel's (Welsh Springer). Lots of quality here, all beautifully balanced with good heads, decent forehands and strong, well angulated quarters. Shown and presented to best advantage. 2nd: Wakefield's Spaniels (Sussex). A lovely group representing this super breed. Grand head with kind expressions, good bone and feet. All moved soundly with typical rolling action. 3rd: Anstead's Retriever's (Nova Scotia Duck Tolling) Judge: Tom Mather
