I have judged the breed in Scandinavia but this was my first opportunity to handle the breed on home soil. I must say I was very impressed with them as a whole, temperaments were excellent and they nearly all moved well and had good dentition. They should provide a firm foundation for the breed in the UK. Class 471 PD (1 Entries) Abs: 0 1st: 1827 BURGOYNE Mrs J D Royal Alliance Great Gatsby At Hugachi. Large, high set ears, good eyes, lean muzzle and keen expression. Well balanced and pleasing to handle. Moderate hindquarters and excellent hind action. Reserve Best Dog. Class 472 JD (2 Entries) Abs: 0 1st: 1837 VIDLER Mrs K Indiana Jones Mon Ami At Apailana (Imp). Smooth with an attractive head and expression, good ears, pleasing forehand with good tight elbows. Moved well both ways. 2nd: 1836 ORCHARD, Mrs A J & HOLYLAND Mrs I Fiesta Show Russian Pride (Imp). Typey and well balanced with a very pleasing head and expression enhanced by large, well fringed ears. Good hind action but just a tad untidy coming back to me. Class 473 PGD (1 Entries) Abs: 0 1st: 1830 HARRISON Mrs S Russiandream Bennieorion. Best Dog and Best Import Register. I though he was rather impressive, well balanced with good length of leg, very pleasing head with good, well fringed ears and slightly rounded skull. Presents a nice outline with his good topline and tailset and some cut-up. Sound and free-moving. Class 474 OD (1 Entries) Abs: 0 1st: 1830 HARRISON Mrs S Russiandream Bennieorion Class 476 PB (2 Entries) Abs: 0 1st: 1825 BARTLETT Ms H M Just Angel Dalia at Gustafski (Imp). Best Puppy. 2nd: 1824 ALLSOP Miss L Viva Vivendi Jurmala At Pelugias. Two nice youngsters here. Both are very pretty and moved well. At this stage, Angel Dalia just had the edge in topline and was perhaps a little more positive in front action but they are both well bodied with good tail carriage and showed to advantage. Class 477 JB (3 Entries) Abs: 1 1st: 1826 BARTLETT Ms H M Orlandino Maxima At Gustafski (Imp Rus). A very good moving youngster with an appealing head and expression. High set, well fringed ears; fairly large, dark eyes. Firm body with good topline and nice underline. 2nd: 1828 BURGOYNE Mrs J D Favorit Style Euphoria At Hugachi. Typey and well balanced, good ears, relatively fine muzzle. Decent forehand, could carry a fraction more weight to advantage. Moved soundly. Class 478 PGB (4 Entries) Abs: 0 1st: 1833 HOLYLAND Mrs I Fiesta Show Melodiya Leta (Imp). Reserve Best Bitch. Animated and lively and this gave her the edge today. Pretty head and expression, good sized eyes, excellent forehand with good body and decent topline and tail carriage. Moved well with an easy, brisk action. 2nd: 1838 VIDLER Mrs K Dosia Z Garlkicy Duchownej At Apailana (Imp). A lovely rich red with a most pleasing head and expression, moved soundly and shown in good body and coat. 3rd: 1831 HARRISON Mrs S Russiandream Bonnie Aurora Class 479 OB (2 Entries) Abs: 0 1st: 1835 ORCHARD Mrs A J Grande Misterio Ula La At Manatek (Imp). Best Bitch. A well bodied, very pretty bitch with high set, well fringed ears. Good forehand, slightly sloping topline and good underline. Beautifully balanced and she moved well with a very easy, fluid action. 2nd: 1834 HOLYLAND Mrs I Dolgozhdannaia Udacha Kara (Imp). Another very good moving exhibit with a feminine, attractive head and pleasing expression. Good forehand, not quite the strength of loin of the winner. Shows to good advantage. Griffon Fauve de Bretagne. Best Puppy. Most typical with a kind expression, good pigmentation, decent leathers. Well boned with a good forehand and moderate neck. Well bodied for age with decent breadth and depth of chest. Once settled moved out well with an easy stride. Class 958 JD (1 Entries) Abs: 0 1st: 3583 STANLEY Mrs J Covehithe Steam Boat Willy. Black and Tan Coonhound. Maculine and workmanlike with a handsome, clean head and good eyes. Well set ears with good length of leather. Well laid shoulders with good bone and feet. Firm, level topline. Dense glossy coat and moved with an easy elastic stride. Class 960 OD (4 Entries) Abs: 0 1st: 3579 McDONALD-ULLIOTT Mrs J Hibeck Dino. Griffon Fauve de Bretagne. Best Dog and Best Import. An impressive exhibit who moved beautifully with an easy fluid stride. Strong and masculine yet in no way coarse he has an attractive head of good length and a kind expression. Good depth and breadth of chest, ribbed well back and strong loin. Pleased to see him placed in a good group latter in the day. 2nd: 3578 BAYNTON Mr D & Mrs S Alfie Bangwood (Imp). Reserve Best Dog. Presents a very typical outline and he has a masculine, handsome head and expression. Well bodied with some forechest and good depth of brisket. Excellent topline and tailset. Well muscled and particularly good hindquarters which gave him some drive on the move. 3rd: 3584 TUCKER Mrs D Elmstracker Glacial Force Class 962 PB (1 Entries) Abs: 0 1st: 3586 WEBSTER Mr & Mrs N & M A Oceane D'an Naoned Avec Dalmarno (Imp Fra). Basset Bleu de Gascogne. Well marked and she has an excellent temperament - certainly lively and affectionate if not reserved! Good head properties with large nose pad and a typical expression. Reserve Best Bitch. Griffon Fauve de Bretagne. A younger full sister to Dino and very similar in all respects. Her excellent movement stood her in good stead in the challenge. Good head proportions, moderate neck and well ribbed body. Very good topline with high set tail. Excellent harsh jacket. Pleasing head with good clean eyes and decent leathers. Strong bone, nicely padded feet. Excellent body and rib. Pleasing head with good leathers, lovely eyes and a pleasing, typical expression. Good bone, half crook and good feet. Well marked with good pigmentation. Well proportioned head with good ears, well pigmented. Well balanced with a good forehand, maybe a tad too heavy in bone. Good depth of chest. Slight tuck up. Good jacket and in profile has the typical short stride. Shows to good advantage. Masculine and pleasing for both size and balance. Sinewy and well muscled with a good head, excellent pigment. Noble alert expression, well boned with good forehand and moderate chest. Typical topline and tail carriage. Very easy, fluid profile action. Typical balance, pleasing head with dark intelligent eyes and good ear set. Some depth of chest, slight tuck-up and good moderate hindquarters. Moved out well and presented in good coat. 2nd: 5380 WRIGHT Mrs H R Rollenwood Mi Meurte. Xoloitzcuintle. Coated with good sized ears, keen alert expression. Clean arched neck and good shoulders. Moderate tuck up and hindquarters which are well muscled and gave her an easy, elegant stride. Well balanced with a lean muscular body and a most pleasing head with good depth of pigmentation. Lovely head and expression high set ears and dark inquisitive eye. Some depth of chest, good body and moderate hindquarters. Moved soundly. Shown in a dense crisp coat. This breed should prove to be a popular addition to the Gundog group. Dense curly coat, lovely kind expression and excellent temperament.
