Paignton & District Fanciers' Association

Breed: Lancashire Heeler

I always enjoy judging this delightful breed and try to stay mindful of their purpose, to me the description ‘small, powerful, sturdily built, alert energetic worker’ really should sum them up.

1st: JONES Mrs M & Mr M Brockbrae September Shadow Over Welshmoor

Strong and well boned, masculine dog with appealing wedge head tapering to a strong muzzle with good underjaw, alert ears, sturdy body with good front angulation, moderate neck, firm topline and correct tailset, well proportioned with good rear, moved briskly around the ring in good coat and well handled, RCC, BP.

2nd: GRANT-PARKES Miss J Parabar Dancing Mohican

Smaller type dog but everything in proportion, nice for type, with good bone and chest, good shoulders and elbows, well ribbed, correct proportions and firm topline, nice neat feet, moved soundly.

Class 960 OD (3 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: GORDON Mrs E & Miss E Ch Troutop Rolo

A male I have always admired, liver in immaculate condition with a superb coat, lovely size and typical outline. He has an excellent head with a flat skull with correct planes, lovely eye shape, excellent lay of shoulder and tight elbows, firm in body and topline with correct tailset and an excellent rear, moved smartly in all directions CC

2nd: FELSTEAD Mrs D L Millirenn Hugonis At Foveaux Sh.CM

Vert alert showman, sturdy with good head proportions and cheeky dark eyes, strong neck, ribbed well back, excellent body and condition, firm level topline, sound rear, a little wide and out at elbows coming but true behind and lots of energy.

3rd: GRANT-PARKES Miss J Parabar Popgun

Sturdy male with a masculine head, ears alert, well placed neck and good strong body, covered the ground soundly but with little enthusiasm for the job.

1st: 2703 GRANT-PARKES Miss J Parabar Paxton's Posy

Well proportioned, feminine bitch, needs to develop a little more in body and muscle, nice wedge head with good parallels, correct neck, good chest and ribbing, firm topline, would prefer a better tailset, moved well.

2nd: 2696 BELL Mrs J & Mr J Bellsmond Winona

Well built and of good make and shape, a little wide through the front and could be a bit firmer in body and topline, lovely bone and correct proportions, she did make me smile, super hard coat, moved when she wanted too.

Class 966 LB (3 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: FELSTEAD Mrs D L Foveaux Oz Lady Madonna

Like the overall type of this showy girl, very alert and active and well put together, balanced head with good eye and ear set, super expression, rib extending well back, balanced angulation and hard straight coat, moved soundly, full of character, just preferred the overall profile of the RCC winner.

2nd: GRANT-PARKES Miss J Parabar Paxton's Posy

3rd: BELL Mrs J & Mr J Bellsmond Winona

Class 967 OB (6 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: JONES Mrs M & Mr M Ch Welshmoor Bobbysgirl

Lovely well balanced, bitch who appealed for her type and quality, such an extrovert showgirl, full of attitude, feminine head and expression and super ears, excellent front and construction, beautifully angulated rear with sound, strong top-line and well-muscled throughout, presented in excellent hard condition, smart and free on the move, CC, she had youth on her side for BOB and her briskness and attitude won it.

2nd: GORDON Mrs E & Miss E Ch Foxthyme Eleanor with Troutop

Have judged this girl before and I still find her so typical and sound, heavier made than 1 but so correct, lovely head, eyes and ears, moderate neck and good outline, firm and solid, holds herself well going round, sound and free on the move. RCC

3rd: WHITEMAN Mrs C A Madincrowd Bathsheba JW

Super working coat on this bitch, another who appealed for overall type and balance, showed and moved well.
