Windsor Dog Show Society

Breed: Polish Lowland Sheepdog

My thanks to the committee for the kind invitation to judge this wonderful show, everything is so well organised and nothing is too much trouble, my ring stewards were excellent and very pleasant. The entry wasn’t numerically high, I’ve heard a comment about Fridays putting people off, but regardless, it’s what’s there that matters. This is a strong and muscular very slightly rectangular breed, they should not be fine boned or light in frame, they should not be short legged and long bodied, they should never resemble a Bearded Collie or Tibetan Terrier. Hans Lehtinen used to say colour them all green in your mind and see if the silhouette is breed typical then. I was looking for a moderate and unexagerated dog with the essential correct outline - the neckline from the back of the skull to the withers being both noticeable and smooth flowing seamlessly via well marked withers in to the level topline with a strong, wide and compact body. I was pleased with my winners they were breed typical, correctly proportioned and had the smooth and ground covering movement I was looking for. Thank you to all the exhibitors for a lovely day, there’s nothing better than being amongst the breed you love.

I have always admired this bitch for her lovely balance and sound movement. Belies her 12 yrs, all credit to her owner, she is moderate all over which is how they should be, balanced head which matches her size with a defined stop, lovely expression from brown eyes, medium neck, correct angulation and good depth, ribs well sprung with level back and short croup, well muscled rear, she could be a bit more stocky but was sound and smooth on the move and held her shape, a deserved RCC.

I really like the strength and substance of this dog, not the biggest and a bit more length of leg would balance his proportions but he has a masculine head with a moderately broad skull, strong and broad muzzle with good underjaw and a big nose, defined stop, strong medium neck, well set, withers correct, excellent bone for size with good lay back and strong firm back, compact in loin, correct croup, lovely rear with strong thighs and low set hocks, in between coat but good harsh texture, covers the ground smoothly and efficiently, RCC will only get better as he matures

Lots to like about this dog and I have given him an RCC in the past, he was looking very well today and is a credit to his owner. He is compact, correctly proportioned with a head in proportion to his body, muzzle and skull equal, just enough neck and sufficient bone, very good in body with a level topline and slightly sloping croup, sound rear, moves well but not the reach and fluidity of the PG winner

All PON, medium sized, very mature for his age with a masculine outlook and totally balanced in proportions. Thick set and muscular with skull moderately broad and evenly rounded, stop well marked, muzzle broad and strong with a big nose, strong medium neck correctly set on to distinct withers, shoulders broad and well laid with chest to elbow and good width, ribs well sprung, body strong in structure and condition, broad through the back, loin and croup, level topline, broad muscular thighs with low set hocks, sound, parallel movement which was harmonious and efficient, with head slightly elevated, double layered shaggy coat of equal quality all over CC, BOB and shortlisted in the group, his 3rd CC can’t be far off.

A very well balanced mature bitch, I would prefer her with a bit more bone and strength but so well proportioned with a good outline, head matches her body, correct for ratios, with defined stop, excellent front assembly and distinct withers, ribs well sprung, compact with correct loin, good rear angulation, moves smoothly and covers the ground well, coat of good texture.

A very promising puppy who is well built, with good bone for her size and an excellent head, strong but feminine, lovely big nose on a strong blunt muzzle, good neck and set on to withers, shoulders quite broad and well laid, nice body developing with a level topline and correct croup, she’s growing in proportion, good 9:10, strong hindquarters, sound and smooth movement, must have a very bright future, considered for RCC.

Two very different types. Neither moving their best today

1st: BRANSBY Mr & Mrs P Mybeards Lexa

Medium size girl of good proportions, skull a little narrow but balanced to muzzle with well marked stop and brown eyes, correct medium neck, would benefit from a little more strength and width all through, firm level topline, with slightly sloping croup, well muscled rear, profuse double coat, sound movement when she settled!

2nd: FIONDA Mr G J & Mrs M C Derochas Piccolina

Stronger and sturdier than 1 with a lovely head, good bone and chest with a strong body, could carry a little more neck, compact and well built, nice and solid in back and loin, one of the best coats here today, weatherproof and with length and texture, could lose a little weight to advantage and not really moving her best today.

1st: 3763 MILLS Mr T J & Mrs E A Tomsziils Betty Boop

A well built and unexaggerated bitch who I have placed well before, not flashy but so sound and typey. Good medium size with substance but retaining femininity correct skull and muzzle with good stop, medium strong neck set correctly onto well marked withers flowing to a strong back, short loin and short croup, correct in proportions, shoulders well laid, good chest and bone with brisket to elbow and well sprung ribs, excellent rear, well coated, more undercoat would complete the picture but coat comes and goes, construction and type is fixed, excellent smooth gait. Pleased to award her a 3rd CC, she complemented the BD beautifully.

2nd: CELARY Mr L & Mrs A Inka Dziechcinek (Imp)

I really like this strong and very typical chocolate girl, she has bags of type, love her bone, substance and width, super coat, excellent strong head with great pigment and light hazel eyes, strong neck, withers could be a little more distinct, balanced angulation, good chest, has a tendency to look longer than she actually is, not the outline of 1 but moved out well, a little narrow going away but good in side gait, another in contention for RCC.
