Manchester Dog Show Society Championship Show 17th January 2019 Thank you to Manchester Dog Show Society Committee for the invitation and support to judge my first Challenge Certificate appointment for German Shepherd Dogs. Thanks go to my stewards for the day, Jason and John, and not least to the exhibitors for your entries and the sportsmanship on the day. I apologise to any exhibitor that ends up with the horrendous cold I had but after receiving such a good entry I was determined I was going to carry out the appointment. General observations - Temperaments in the main were good. Cleanliness of teeth, Long nails, spread feet and lack of muscle tone needs to be addressed on some exhibits. With the exception of the main winners in the males the overall quality was in the bitches today especially in the Limit and Open Classes.

Minor Puppy Dog 1 entered 1 absent Puppy Dog 3 entered 1 absent

1st Nikonis Lewis 11 mth old. Of medium size, good strength of bone, with balanced proportions. A grey sable not yet in full coat with masculine head and expression, kind eye, good ear set. Pronounced withers with a smooth topline into a well moulded croup. Well angled but slightly short upper arm. Firm pasterns on good feet. Good hind angles with correct turn of stifle and toned second thigh. Short, neat hocks. Sound away and back, and once settled shows a free flowing side gait with drive retaining his topline.

2nd Winnetou Von Gebruder Grimm 11mth old. Of medium size, with good strength of bone. Black and Tan Long Coat with undercoat present. Masculine head and expression with dark eye. Bite slightly overshot. Slightly flat over the withers. Short steep croup. Upper arm short and steep. Firm pasterns on good feet. Good hind angles. Slightly close away, ok coming. Raises his topline on the move.

Junior Dog 5 entered 2 absent

1st Kassieger Hooch 15mth old. Large, medium strength, balanced male, well proportioned just going through the rangy stage. Black and tan not in full coat. Masculine head and expression, dark eye. Good ear set. Good length of neck into pronounced withers. Smooth topline into good length and well angled croup. Good length and angle of upper arm. Firm pasterns on good feet. Good hind angles and toned muscle. Sound away and back, retains his topline on the move showing good forward reach and drive.

2nd Marinita Carlos 14 ½ mth old. Of medium size and strength. A balanced, well proportioned male. Black and tan not in full coat. Masculine head and expression. Good ear set. Good neck length into normal wither. Good topline into a well angled but slightly short croup. Well angled upper arm though slightly short in length. Good feet. Good hind angles with good muscle. Sound away and back, showed a good side gait with good drive.

3rd Brineack Gino 12 mths old. Medium size and strength of good proportions. Black and gold, not in full coat with masculine head and expression. Good ear set and dark eye. Shows good wither height in stance. Clean topline into good length and angle of croup. Short steep upper arm. Hind angles on the limit. Sound away and back, would benefit from more training.

Post Graduate Dog 12 entered 3 absent

1st Solophina Benito 3 ½ yr old. Of medium size and good strength. Balanced proportions. Black and Tan in good coat and condition. Masculine head and expression with dark kind eyes. Very good ear set. Sufficient neck length into pronounced wither. Good topline into well angled but slightly short croup. Well angled upper arm just slightly short. Firm pasterns on good feet. Good hind angles with strong short hocks. Sound away and back, shows powerful hind drive, retaining his topline.

2nd Clynalwin’s Nukon 2 ¾ yr old. Of medium size and strength. Balanced in proportions. Black and Gold not in full coat. Masculine head with alert expression. Good ear set, eyes could be darker. Good length of neck into normal withers. Good topline into short steep croup. Good length of upper arm but slightly steep. Feet could be tighter. Good rear angles with short hocks. Sound away and back, with a steady side gait.

3rd Avanti Voyager 18mth old. Of medium size and strength. Balanced proportions. Black and gold not in full coat, in firm and dry condition. Masculine and alert. Good ear set, eyes could be darker. Normal withers, into a good topline with a short steep croup. Good angle of upper arm but slightly short. Firm pasterns but feet could be tighter. Sound away and back, with good rear drive.

1st Marinita Zaiden 2 ¾ yr old. Large male of good strength. Well balanced in proportion. Black and Tan in good coat and firm condition. Masculine head and expression, with well set ears. Kind dark eyes. Good length and strength of neck into pronounced withers with a smooth topline into a well moulded croup. Good length and angle of upper arm, with firm pasterns on good feet. Good rear angles with correct turn of stifle into strong hocks. Sound away and back with powerful rear drive and good forward reach producing a free flowing side action. Stood and moved with self assurance and confidence. Very pleased to award him the CC and BOB.

2nd Kintaro Zaragoza 2 ¾ yr old. Of medium size and strength. Well proportioned. Black and Tan just coming into coat. Masculine head and expression with kind eye. Good ear set. Good length of neck into normal withers. Clean topline into well moulded croup. Good length and angle of upper arm, firm pasterns on good feet. Good rear angles. Slightly wide away, ok coming. Produces a free flowing side action with drive.

3rd Basko vom Grafenbrunn 4 ½ yr old. Large male of balanced proportions. Black and gold in good coat. Normal topline into good length of croup but a little steep. Upper arm short but well angled. Good rear angles. Sound away and back but lacked enthusiasm on the move.

Open Dog 10 entered 1 absent

1st Absela Loki 3 ¾ yr old. Large male of good strength. Of good proportions. Black and Tan in good coat and condition. Very masculine head and expression, with dark eyes. Good ear set. Good length and strength of neck. Pronounced withers with a smooth topline into a well moulded croup. Good length and angle of upper arm. Firm pasterns on good feet. Good hind angulation with correct turn of stifle into strong hocks. Once settled was sound away and back. He produces a powerful drive with good forward reach. Not as settled as my CC winner but very pleased to award him the RCC.

2nd Ir Ch Knockwood Yohann 6 ½ yr old. A Medium sized medium strength expressive male of balanced proportions. Black and Tan not in full coat, firm and dry condition. Dark eyes and good ear set. Good length of neck into pronounced withers. Good topline into a short but well angled croup. Good angle of upper arm but slightly short. Firm pasterns. Good hind angles into firm hocks. Sound away and back. Produces a ground covering side action with drive, retaining his topline.

3rd Ch Hettel Di Casa Mary 4 yr old A medium sized medium strength male of good proportions. Black and Tan in good coat and condition. Masculine head and expression with dark eyes and well set ears. Good length of neck into normal withers. Smooth topline into well moulded croup. Good length and angle of upper arm. Firm pasterns, feet could be tighter. Good hind angles. Sound away and back, showing a steady side gait, seemed to lack enthusiasm

Good hind angles into neat hocks. Sound away and back and showed powerful drive with good forward reach and coordination. Best Puppy Bitch.

2nd Draycore Vera 9 mth old. A female of good strength. Black and Tan not in full coat. Feminine head and expression, Correct eyes and well set ears. Good length of neck into pronounced withers into a clean topline. Croup a little short and steep. Pasterns ok with good feet. Hind angulation on the limit, needs to firm up behind, ok coming. Showed drive and enthusiasm on the move.

3rd Reyanheath Reika 6 mth old A very raw baby. Grey sable very feminine. Good reach of neck into pronounced withers, smooth topline into a well laid croup. Good length of upper arm chest needs to develop. Firm pasterns on good feet. Good rear angles. Sound away and back, moved with enthusiasm. Needs time to develop.

Sound away and back showing good drive and forward extension.

Good length of neck into flat withers. Topline ok but coat detracts. Croup of good length and angle. Good front and rear assembly with firm pasterns and good feet. Sound away and back but lacked enthusiasm on the move.

3rd Que Sera Sera X-men Storm 10 mth old. A medium size and strength female of balanced proportions. Black and tan long coat, undercoat present. Feminine head and expression, Normal wither into straight back with short flat croup. Short upper arm of good angle. Good hind angles into neat hocks. Sound away and back, lacks drive on the move.
