City Of Birmingham Canine Association 2019 – 1st November

Kooikerhondje

Judge: Mr R Blomme (Belgium)

My thanks to the City of Birmingham committee for their hospitality and for having invited me to judge on this special 75th anniversary show. Many thanks to my ring stewards. Many thanks to the exhibitors, for having entered their dogs which I really have very much appreciated. I am very sorry not having been able to spend more time and being more extended in my critiques seen the late start of my judging but trying to get everyone in time for the group judging. Unfortunately several exhibitors left before judging.

I was very much looking forward to judge this breed in the UK. Not an easy breed for its breeders with this small population which showed some diversity in types. But just saying that also on the continent there can be that diversity in types too. In general I found that several needed a more compact, shorter and almost square shape and balance to show the correct breed type. Tails are a concern as too many were too high and curved and some curled over the back. A few colours were not right either in white or red.

1st: 7729 HEARSON Miss J A Gladsheim Acer At Jumasue

Good type but would like to see better balance with a more compact outline. Lovely head and expression. Excellent body and ribs for age. Nice colour, sufficient amount of red. Tail correct at rest but too high and curled over back on the move. Typical breed gait. This is my Best puppy.

2nd: 7736 POWELL Mrs F Gladsheim Poplar

Could be a little more masculine. Rather fine overall. Long in body and needs to be more compact. Showing a little too much amount of red. Tail correct at rest but too high and curled over back on the move.

Nice masculine dog, but rather long in body that needs to be more compact. Nice masculine head and expression. Well made in body and angulations. Nice colour. Typical gait with nice tail at rest and on the move. He became my Res best dog.

2nd: 7746 WHITEHEAD Mrs S Gladsheim Helios

Could be more masculine overall. Has a pretty head and expression. Nice proportions and topline. Is rather wide in front on the move. Nice deep colour but rather much amount of red. Tail carriage correct at rest and on the move.

Limit dog (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 7733 KENNEDY Mrs E M Crunchcroft Onyx

Masculine dog of good type and proportions. Nice masculine head and expression. Well made in body, bone and angulations. Prefer a deeper colour and better balance between white and red. Needs better tail carriage on the move and although breed typical gait needs more temperament.

Open dog (3 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 7738 SUITER, Ms C & CARGILL Mr B Chriskooi's Octavius At Genetika (Imp)

Nice type but prefer to be more compact in body and outline. Nice masculine head but expression could be better, too round eye. Excellent body, angulations and bone. Nice topline. Nice colour of red and balance between white and red. He moved well with correct tail carriage, but rather wide in front. This dog was my Best dog.

2nd: 7747 WILLIAMS Miss S E Cairnbraid Onwaba Lukimbi Of Gladsheim

Nice type but needs a little more of everything. Rather fine and short in muzzle. Good eye and expression. A little long and prefer a more compact shape. Croup rather rounded. Nice colour. Good tail carriage at rest and on the move.

Nice colour but rather sufficient in amount of red. Nice tail carriage at rest and on the move. Was pleased to award her Res best bitch and Best veteran.

Pretty bitch. Nice type but rather long in shape. Feminine head and expression. The ears are rather long. Good body, bone and angulations. The white colour is not clear and too much roaned.

Very nice puppy. Nice type. Pretty head and expression. Well made in body and angulations. A little rounded in croup. Typical breed gait but tail too much curved over the back. Prefer a better balance between white and red.

Junior bitch (3 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: 7730 JOHNSON Miss C Valleyrise Illustration

Nice bitch of good type. But a little long in shape. Very nice feminine head with alert and bright expression. Nice body and angulations. Nice deep colour although a little much amount of red. Breed typical gait but a little narrow behind. Unfortunately tail curved over back on the move. Best junior.

Post graduate bitch (2 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: 7740 SUITER, Ms C & CARGILL Mr B Genetika Wake Up Aurora

Lovely bitch but prefer shorter in shape, a little long in body. Very nice feminine head and expression. Topline could be straighter and firmer. Excellent body and angulations. The red colour is too much mixed with black hairs spoiling the red colour. Breed typical gait but tail too much curled.

Limit bitch (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 7749 WILLIAMS Miss S E Gladsheim Arunika

She is a nice type but also here I prefer her to be more compact in body. Feminine head but eyes too big and round. Nice angulations and bone. Sufficient in colour balance. Nice tail carriage at rest and on the move.

2nd: 7732 KENNEDY Mrs E M Crunchcroft Quantum Leap

She is a rather big girl. Needs better breed type and better proportions. Feminine head but ears carried much too wide away from the head. Nice strong body. Not the best colour. White not clear with much ticking and roaning and too much black on the neck.

Open bitch (3 Entries) Abs: 2

1st: 7731 JOHNSON Miss C Sensation Vom Tespelkooi Of Valleyrise (Imp)

Excellent type. She is very nice little girl, just prefered to see her with a little more size. Loved her very nice feminine head with correct balance and proportions. She has a very much breed typical expression. Topline could just be that little more level. Nice body and angulations. Nice deep red coulour but a little better balance between white and red preferred. She has a very much breed typical gait with correct tail at rest and on the move. She became my Best bitch and also Best of Breed.
