Thank you to the exhibitors for the super entry. I was very aware that it was only just two years since I last judged at Bournemouth. Normally I wouldn’t accept an appointment so close but I was asked to step in as the previous selected judge was not available.

I was pleased to see so many dogs again that had done well under me previously and now returned as the much more mature specimens. My principal winner were both juniors and it transpired siblings, what exciting prospects they are for the breed.

As always my thanks to my stewards for keeping the ring running smoothly and the exhibitors to accepting my decision in such a sporting manner, it made for a super appointment.

1ST OAKMARSH ACORN (K L WATTS)

This 9 year old was a nice type of bitch with a good overall size and shape, pleasing head and expression, strong neck and good front assembly, depth to forechest and straight front, ribs well back and sprung, firm though the loin and stifles well bent. Super coat of the correct texture, moved well going around. My best Veteran delighted to see she later went RBVIS, many congratulations.

2ND POLOTTER PICKLED PIPER (MR P H MILNER)

Masculine and of good proportions on this seven year old chap. I liked his head as it was well proportioned and had a lovely expression. Balanced angles and body of good proportions, a little short on forearm for complete balance. Good front action but a shade close behind, in really hard condition.

1ST CH PENROSE AWAY WITH A FAIRY (MRS J MORRIS)

Feminine with substance, appealing head of good proportions and lovely expression. Good neck and shoulders would like a litter more lay back. Tends to stand a little ten to two in front. Plenty of depth to forechest and ribs well back to a firm and proportioned loin. Good quarters and in hard condition. Super coat and tail. Moved covering the ground with accuracy but not the drive of the principle winners.

1ST ARNAC BAY HURON AT BERGELLE (MISS M V, MR J & MR J MAHON, HUNNS & NEWTON)

Smart young dog who presents a masculine outline without being overdone. Masculine broad head with soft expression and well-proportioned muzzle. Strong neck of correct length leading to well-placed shoulders and good return of upper arm. Good depth to his body for his age and ribs springing well. Topline correct and held, good finish to croup and well set tail. Good bend to stifles and good bone and feet. Coat is oily and correct texture, on the move he has an accurate footfall and covered the ground with ease. He just took my attention in the challenge and pipped his father for the top spot. DCC, his first and I wish him well for the other two.

1ST CHESEPI TENNESSSEE (MISS J B EDWARDS)

Good overall shape and balance, masculine in head of good proportions and keen expression. Pleasing in head but would have liked a better eye shape. Short neck and an OK lay back of shoulder and return of forearm, would have like a little more angle. Good depth through the forechest and well ribbed back to a firm loin of correct length. Developed rear and good second thigh. In good thick coat of correct double texture. Sound on the move but just I wanted him to stride out a little more.

Dog of good overall size and proportions, masculine in head with good proportions and width. Strong through the neck and good layback of shoulder, correct depth to forechest and ribs well sprung and back to a well-proportioned loin. Decent topline and quarters well developed and firm. True on the out and back and covered the ground well, just needs a little more body and coat to complete the picture.

1ST SH CH ARNAC WEATHERDECK BUOY (MRS C S MAYHEW)

I last judged this chap in 2017 so delighted to see him here now he has matured. So well balanced and full of quality, masculine without being overdone. Head is well balanced, broad and has a good finish to foreface. Good neck leading to a very well-constructed front assembly. Body well made with ribs sprung and well back to a firm a proportionate loin. Quarters developed and a good finish to croup, tail well set and used to advantage. Coat Ok with a harsh oily texture. I would just have liked a little bit more of him. Moved out well but not quite matching the young junior winner therefore had to settle for the RCC today.

2ND SH CH PENROSE INCREDIBLE (MRS J MORRIS)

Another smart dog who won junior under me last time and as with the winner pleased to see him back as the finished article. He is masculine without being overdone. Good head of correct proportions and a keen expression. Strong neck and super lay back of shoulder, good return of forearm and depth to the forechest. Super ribs and loin of correct length. Quarters well-made and developed and good finish to the croup. Moved out well and covered the ground would have liked a better rear action, super coat in excellent condition.

1ST ARNAC BAY HEBE (MRS C S MAYHEW)

What a star this young lady is, as she entered the ring she immediately took my eye and my thoughts were confirmed when I got my hands on her. Beautiful head and expression, balanced and of good proportions with moderate stop. Neck is strong and powerful, clean cut and fits well into very well placed shoulders, good return of forearm and super legs and feet. Good depth to her forechest for her age with ribs springing nicely and well back to a firm and muscular loin of correct length, giving the desired topline. Super quarters with good development of first and second thigh and well set on tail. Coat was thick and short, double and of the correct texture. Her general balance and proportions were cracking. On the move she just stood out today, accurate in footfall, drive and forward reach, she covered the ground with ease and in the challenge, she was not fazed at all by a change of handler and upped her game. All of this put together meant that she could not be denied the CC and BOB. I'm sure this lady has a bright future ahead of her.

2ND ARNAC BAY HARVEST (MR D & MRS T THOMPSON)

Neck strong and of good length, good front assembly, depth to chest and super ribs. Stands on good legs and well-made feet. Loin of good length. Well-developed quarters and bend of stifle. Moved true and covering the ground with ease, good profile action. Please to award her the RCC, congratulations.

2ND OAKMARSH DANCING DIVA (MISS C A PONT)

Good head and expression on this lady, Strong neck, fitting neatly into well placed shoulders. Good front assembly, straight front and depth to forechest. Ribs well sprung and back to a firm loin, slightly longer cast than 1 but maintains balance. Good rear, well developed and correct amount of bend to stifle. Moved true, just a shade close behind.

1ST SH CH ARNAC BAY FLAX (MRS C S MAYHEW)

Thought that this bitch was lovely when she came into the ring, so typey and well balanced, I was pleased when I looked in the catalogue later, that I still liked her as I awarded her the CC last time. Lovely headpiece of correct proportions and a keen yet gentle expression. Constructionally put together very well and she just flows. On the move she is correct and true, covering the ground with ease and accuracy. Still think she is great, in the challenge she just hadn't quite got the enthusiasm today of her young kennelmate.

2ND DALLANDOR JOCASTA (MRS R J, MISS J & MR D HERBERT, COPPIN & DAVIES-JONES)

Another bitch who just fills the eye for type and balance. Feminine head and expression, neck powerful and of good length, good front assembly, depth to chest and super ribs. Loin of good length but carrying a little too much weight today. Well-developed quarters and bend of stifle. Moved true and covering the ground with ease, coat not at its best today but I could see it was correct.

3RD CHESELBAY APPALACHIAN (DR J NASH)
