Crufts is the greatest and largest show in the world , we in the UK are fortunate to be able to compete against some of the top dogs from other counties and can make comparison to those at home. Years ago,UK bred Frenchies were of the best type in the world, but I fear that is not the case anymore. In my opinion from what I have seen, talented breeders from other countries are overtaking those in the UK. I must remind breeders that the French Bulldog should have the appearance of an active, muscular dog, of heavy bone, smooth coat, compactly built, and of medium or small structure. It is defiantly not a toy breed. My day’s judging at Crufts can be described as a roller coaster of emotions, great elation at times and also times of despair. I was however very pleased with the depth of quality and health of all my winners overall and in my finale line ups for dogs and bitches, all had most of the desired breed specific characteristics that I was looking for and it was a pleasure to select my top winners from these exhibits. Accompanied by tumultuous ringside applause it was a delight to watch the pied Korinne De El Mency Loco, the Bitch CC winner and the dark brindle Dog CC winner Boule & Onuba Sir Kaiser Catrelma move effortlessly around the ring together for the final challenge for Best Of Breed . It gave me goose bumps. It was such a privilege to award the CC’s to these two excellent typy healthy examples of the breed , but for me the pied bitch just had the edge overall for type and movement and very deservedly went BOB.
