Judge: Mr P R Eardley (Sherex)

Thank you to all the exhibitors for a lovely entry which I thoroughly enjoyed judging. There was a festive atmosphere in the ring and all my decisions were met with sporting applause.

Thank you to my two efficient stewards who kept things running very efficiently.

Overall I was pleased with the quality of the entry with some lovely Wheatens on show. In my opinion rear movement could still be improved and mouths are clearly a bit of a challenge. Presentation was good and all exhibits were clean and tidy which was much appreciated.

1st: SATHERLEY Mrs C L & Mr C W Silkcroft High Roller-very raw, a lovely type, has the makings of a good head, good body proportions, will need to strengthen behind, coat coming through nicely and texture was as you would expect it at this age.

1st: HOOKWAY, Ms E & MASON Mr W Denzilly Golden Compass-forward for his age and very masculine, I liked his head, plenty of puppy coat but a decent rib cage under the coat. Lovely temperament and won on maturity.

2nd: SATHERLEY Mrs C L & Mr C W Silkcroft I Predict A Riot-looked promising, was maybe a touch longer than the winner, lovely reach and drive on the move. It will be interesting to see how he matures.

3rd: CARTWRIGHT Mrs S & Mr D Saffini We Will Rock You

1st: GRIMES, Mrs J & WATSON Mr G Janeyjimjams Jem Devlin-stood alone but could have coped with some competition. I loved his type as he was unexaggerated and completely filled the eye. Great body proportions, well ribbed, short loin and good rear movement. Excellent head with correct expression and ears. I seriously considered him for the Res CC and in a slower maturing breed maturity was the only thing that pegged him. Should have a very bright future I would think.

1st: TAYLOR Mrs J & Mr J Eblanahalls Teckle Ish At Raisingsands-won the class on type, good head, ears, decent coat, good ribbing and in good condition. Not good in rear and front a bit untidy.

2nd: KENNEALLY Mrs C Loofahsa Humdinger-a bit rangy for me and tailset detracted a little. At a difficult age and is a bit in between.

1st: HOLDING Mr G & Mrs L Celtannia Atlantic Gigolo-this one ticked quite a few boxes, was the best mover in the class with an excellent front, coat a bit in between but that will alter. Will come in to his own shortly.

2nd: BARRETT Mrs S P & Mr N J Saffini Shining Star-longer taller dog than the winner, the best head in the class. Moved close behind.

3rd: MCNEILLIS Mrs C R & Mr A J Celtannia Atlantic Star

I really enjoyed sorting these open dogs out. Great to see so many mature Wheatens battling it out and all demonstrated delightful temperaments given the amount of testosterone in the ring, which is a credit to you all. Quite a few different sorts in here.

1st: DOWDY, Ms J I & DOWDY Mr G J Ch Greentree Gold Mombo To Denzilly (Imp)- the most typy boy in the class with excellent body proportions, in stance he looks lovely with correct angulation back and front. On his toes and really presents himself. Excellent head, good ears, good dentition, lovely hard condition, good ribbing and all finished off with the correct coat, moderately presented to enhance his various breed points. Dog CC

2nd: PATTERSON Mr G & Mrs C Ch Snowmeadow Sauls Symphony To Gavleash-overall quality here and a really sound moving boy of good type. Was very good up and back which earned him his high place and maturity carried him through to Res CC.

3rd: WITHINGTON Miss S Ch Fantasa Blonde Rufus

MPB (5 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: SATHERLEY Mrs C L & Mr C W Silkcroft Place Your Bets-promising baby, lovely outline, good tailset, good proportions, feminine head, moved well for a baby.

2nd: GRANT Mrs B Dannebriel Magical Minerva-a little more mature than the winner and looked good when stacked. Not quite as good on the move.

3rd: ENGLISH Mrs M & Mr K Calvenace Boogie Oogie

PB (6 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: SATHERLEY Mrs C L & Mr C W Silkcroft Never Miss A Beat-bit of an eyecatcher as she is really showy, super type, feminine head, coat coming through well, good on the move and ticked all the boxes. Movement took her through to a well-deserved best puppy in breed.

2nd: DOWDY, Ms J I & DOWDY Mr G J Denzilly Sweet Cariad-promising baby, good outline, lovely coat, not quite a good behind as the winner but is a good prospect.

3rd: BRISTOW Mrs C & Mr N Saffini Love Of My Life For Avard

JB (5 Entries) Abs: 3

1st: SATHERLEY, Mrs C & Mr C & WITHEYMAN Miss D Silkcroft Born This Way-very eyecatching youngster who has won well under me at a terrier open show. Developing on all the right lines, beautifully presented and well- handled to get the best out of her, super outline, great rear One for the future.

2nd: HOWES Mr S & Mrs B Daisymaes Tumbling Dice-lovely type when stacked, correct coat coming through, good head, tail a bit low set which showed on the move and not quite as eye catching as the winner.

PGB (9 Entries) Abs: 4

1st: SPRINGFORD Mr & Mrs S Keevasdream White Linen Jw (Sub Kc App)-an interesting class. This one was the best mover and possesses a good head. I would like her a little shorter coupled.

2nd: HAMMOND, Ms T J & EVANS Mr S V Calvenace Lady Is A Tramp-better coated than the winner and better proportions but tail a bit low and topline dipping a bit.

3rd: SHEEHAN Mrs D & Mr D Keevasdream White Lace

LB (11 Entries) Abs: 2

1st: FRANCIS Mr & Mrs K Sawheaten Kiss From A Rose-caught my eye as soon as she came in to the ring and continued to catch it. So very typical of the breed, balanced back and front with no exaggeration, lovely outline, decent head and ears, good on the move and my notes just said “quality”. Won the Res CC and I would think is an easy champion.

2nd:MUNN Mr & Mrs S Snowmeadow Suzy Sixpence-so very typical of her breeding, really typy, good head, really good rear.

3rd: SATHERLEY Mrs C L & Mr C W Silkcroft Point And Shoot

OB (8 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: MOLES, Mr B D & WILLIAMS Mr D W Ch Celtannia Extra Chic-caught my eye when she first went round the ring and the more I looked at her the more I liked her. Beautiful outline both standing and moving with a rock solid topline, on examination she had a good head, super ribs and body, great condition and was well muscled. She just looks splendid in her maturity. Lovely sound mover. Won the CC and in the challenge for BOB although the dog was a little shorter coupled I felt that her overall soundness and moderation carried the day. BOB.

2nd: LUI Mrs L Thistlebe Them There Eyes At Eblanahalls Sh.CM ShC-another that caught my eye on first inspection as she was a real showgirl, good coat, fully mature and in good condition. Not quite the movement of the winner.

3rd: BARRETT Mrs S P & Mr N J Saffini Sugar And Spice

VB (3 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 867 SATHERLEY Mrs C L & Mr C W Ch Silkcroft Colour Of Magic Sh.CM-lovely class as this breed are such lasters. All three were in great condition and still raring to go. Beautiful outline on this girl and she still possesses lots of quality. Tail a bit low on the move but when stacked she looked great.

2nd: 819 CHARLETON Mrs J Ch Janeyjimjams Jemima-looked really good when stacked and had a lovely mature coat. Has lost a few face furnishings but her quality still shone through.

3rd: 824 DEWAR Mrs L Calvanace Blossom

GCB (1 Entries) Abs: 0
