I would like to thank the officers and committee for their kind invitation to judge at this well organised show and to thank my efficient stewards for their hard work on the day. I really appreciated the effort that exhibitors had made to get to Builth Wells on wet Friday in October and their good sportsmanship in accepting my decisions.

MPD (2) 1 & BP, Cocking & Barnaby’s Bushwacker Happy Gilmore at Ruskinite, an extremely soundly put together puppy with pleasing head, correct eye shape and colour. Nicely proportioned with depth, correct tail set and moving soundly for his age and sympathetically handled. I would happily have taken him home. Pleased to see him shortlisted in the puppy group; 2 Douglass’ Chanangel Yorkshire Gold to Santallina, looking raw in the company of 1 but a quality puppy. Pleasing head and expression and nice reach of neck. Everything is there he just needs time for it all to come together. PD (1) 1 Graham’s Nyliram Let’s Twist Again, very typy puppy presenting a typical outline standing. I would prefer more positive movement and strength in his head but has time on his side. Nice make and shape. JD (2,1a) 1 Murray’s Madsprings Drogon from Priestbeck, 17 months with masculine head, correct eye shape and colour. Ample neck and adequate angulation fore and aft with pleasing depth of body. Slightly proud of his tail on the move but in fine condition with quality bone and tight feet. PGD (7,2) 1 Jenkins’ Cwmbeili Morgan, more traditional type with pleasing head, kind eye and neat ears. Good reach of neck into well made body, shown in hard condition and full coat. Was the most positive mover in the class; 2 Johnstone’s Glenbrows Valentino for Gilpeta, very typical of his breeding in his rich red and clean white jacket. Correct size with appealing head, correct eye shape and colour. Good reach of neck into soundly made body. Neat feet and quality bone completing the picture; 3 Le Maitre’s Vannelmead Gelert. LD (7,2) 1 Stone’s Stedigan All In Good Time for Merrem, so very typical in outline and a really lovely shape. Masculine in head with kind expression and correctly set neat ears. Pleasing angles fore and aft with quality bone and positive movement; 2 McIlwaine & Reynolds’ Glenbrows Van Gogh for Benoveor, beautifully presented with rich red and clean white jacket. Pleasing head with well set neat ears and kind expression. Soundly put together and fluid movement but not co-operating with is handler when stacked today; 3 Riley’s Ferndel Buttermint at Ravensworth. OD (7,1) 1 CC & BOB, Graham’s Sh Ch Taimere’s Twister Round Nyliram, so very typical in make and shape. Masculine head without any coarseness, neat ears and eyes of the correct shape and colour. Good reach of neck into soundly constructed and unexaggerated body which allows sound movement. In full coat and with a wagging tail he is hard to ignore. Pleased to see him shortlisted in the group; 2 Clarke’s Sh Ch Ferndel High Fidelity with Tigerrock, this dog is a credit to his owner and the work she has put in since I last judged him has paid off. Different type to 1 with a refined head, kind expression and good reach of neck. Well put together and in full coat and lovely condition with sufficient bone and neat feet; 3 Riley’s Ferndel Peanut Butter at Ravensworth. VD (3,1) 1 & RCC, Douglas’ Sh Ch Ferndel Justin Time, very stylish dog but not exaggerated. Soundly made and in full coat, although starting to show his age with some grey hairs. Masculine head with kind eye, correct length of neck and body proportions. Well carried tail and his movement was a joy to see; 2 Stone’s Stedigan Pipers Piping for Merrem, more workman like than 1 with good reach of neck and much to like. Adequate front construction and pleasing rear. A credit to his owner. GCD (1) 1 Smith’s Isfryn Peeping Tom, a very happy young chap. Well put together with masculine head kind eye and well set ears. Really liked his shape and hard muscular condition, and would like to see him in full coat as I feel the best is still to come.

PB (3,1) 1 Revill & Monday’s Julita Ryveeta. a pretty bitch with appealing head and soft expression. Good length of neck into soundly made body with good depth. Beautiful shape and condition but naughty; 2 Short’s Ferndel Fire Gem at Toftwood, currently finer all through than 1 but with much to like. Balanced and with a stamp of quality just needs time. JB (2,1) 1 Clarke & Sherlock’s Crimicar She’s Electrick with Tigerrock, eyecatching bitch with feminine head and kind dark eyes. Good length of neck and well made with lovely depth of body for her age. Quality bone and moving very positively on tight feet. Her time will come. PGB (7,2) 1 & RCC, McIlwaine & Reynolds’ Benoveor Can’t Buy Me Love, a very typy bitch who is a beautiful shape. Pretty feminine head and good reach of neck. Soundly put together with good depth and pleasing rear. Well set wagging tail, beautifully handled; 2 Waller’s Isfryn Lady Godiva at Fireglow, a very soundly constructed bitch with much to like. LB (6,1) 1 Morgan & Schofield’s Cwsscwn De Ja Vu, more substantial bitch with a lovely shape. Typical head with ample neck and well put together with quality bone and moving well on tight feet; 2 Owen’s Typica Seren Aur, pretty with a feminine head and expression, kind eye and neat ears. Not the feet of 1 but with a correctly proportioned body and wagging tail. Scored in depth of body over 3 Jones’ Julita Rumours at Trosley. OB (7,3) 1 & CC, Tolladay’s Ferndel High Society to Bethersden, such a soundly made free moving bitch who glides round the ring on tight feet. Feminine all through with good reach of neck and sufficient quality bone. In full coat and beautifully presented she really pulled out the stops out; 2 Ritchie’s Sh Ch Sarabande Eternity at Slapestones, a typy bitch, typical in head with kind eye of correct shape and colour, well made and a lovely shape, correctly set tail; 3 Sutherland’s Jacranella Serenade. VB (3,1) Two worthy champions.1 Sutherland’s Ch Julita Rezanella of Jacranella, 11 year old bitch who is so sound for her age, well put together in full coat and hard condition. A real credit to her owner; 2 Leary’s Sh Ch Menstonia Minty at Haslemount, one I have admired from the ringside. Smaller than 1 with a feminine head and good reach of neck. Of really lovely type without any exaggeration but not able to match the movement of 1 today. GCB (1) 1 Sutherland’s Jacranella Sonata, presents an appealing outline standing. Very typical in head, well constructed with good depth of body. Beautifully presented and moved out well.                                                                                                                                                                                                            MIKE LEWIN
