HOUND GROUP

I was very pleased to accept this appointment, thought that the show was very well organised, and thank the Society for the hospitality.

At this Show the Hound Group comprised of 31 scheduled breeds + AV Import (Hound/Terrier) quite a number to fit into the large BIS ring.

I thank the judges for sending forward fine representatives of the hound breeds, only the Deerhound was missing!

From this large array of hounds I shortlisted 10, these included the Basset Hound, Smooth Haired Dachshund, Greyhound, Irish Wolfhound, Norwegian Elkhound & Pharaoh Hound all worthy of attaining Group placings.

Group 1. Ch, VDH, Ch Dialynne Peter Piper. Beagle

This is the first time that I have awarded a Group 1 to my own breed

No hiding the fact that I rate this dog, having awarded him DCC & BOB @ Crufts 2017. A dark tri of excellent breed type, a young stallion of exceptional quality, has an outline of excellent balance & proportions, carries himself really well with proud head carriage, masculine headpiece with dark eyes, strong jaw and well set leathers, fit & firm all through, holds a firm level topline, good round bone and firm well knuckled feet, above all else he is a wonderful showman with great attitude, loved his movement so true and sound, driving off short hocks and powerful quarters. Excellent presentation & handling.

Group 2. Al Caliphs Anjal Bey. Saluki

Fully mature cream dog who was close up, again of excellent breed type, balanced in outline, masculine yet refined, in excellent condition, pleased in his angulation, has a well filled front, deep chest and good cut-up, correct in topline, came into his own with his light lifting action, effortless ground covering gait. Pleased to hear that he gained his crown today.

Group 3. Hibeck Dino. Griffon Fauve de Bretagne

Excellent example of the breed having won through from the AV Import classes.

He is so correct all through, so sound in construction and movement, great headpiece, dark eyes, well set and folded ears, just right for size and proportions, stands on good legs & feet with good bone, has an excellent coat of good texture, puts all into his performance and moves out with an easy free striding gait.

Group 4. Spyanfly She’s A Swinger. Whippet

Very feminine br/w bitch, lovely head/eyes and correct ears, presents such a smooth flowing outline, of lovely balance, in excellent firm fit condition, liked her correct angulation, well filled front, correct in both top and underline, sound in movement with super profile gait.
