Driffield Championship Show 2019

Who could ask for more; a beautiful warm sunny day, which enabled the salukis to show themselves to advantage, efficient stewards and a beautiful quality entry. I thoroughly enjoyed my day.

1st: WARD Ms L Caryna Manantena at Backtor

6 month old youngster, masculine head with good eye shape and colour. Moderate shoulder angulation, and spring of rib. He gave his handler a hard time on the move, but I managed to see a few steps of light balanced action.

1st: GARRATT, Mrs D L & STUART Mr D C Caryna Nadezhda TAF

Handsome black and silver youngster, again 6 months old. Really liked his length of leg to body ratio. Attractive head and good eye colour, moderate length of neck and long upper arm. Good topline, well developed quarters and long tail; presented in good condition. He moved well with a light profile action and good, positive front action which won him BP over his very nice litter sister.

2nd: GARRATT, Mrs D L & STUART Mr D C Caryna Amaani TAF litter brother to 1st, more compact and squarer in outline, preferred the length and angle of croup of my winner. He has nice profile action.

1st: HODGE Miss J Mumtaz Helios

Lovely quality youngster, who was really enjoying his day out. He has moderate shoulder angulation, at the moment he is a little straight in upper arm, but this should improve as he matures. Really liked his length of ribcage and depth through 1st and 2nd thigh. He was having far too good a time to concentrate on the move, but I was able to see a few steps of positive action.

2nd: MARTIN Mrs V C Mumtaz Pallas For Stalwart

Litter brother to 1st, a lot to like about this quality youngster, lovely head and expression and strong neck. I preferred the shoulder angulation and depth through the quarters of the winner. He moved well, but ideally could carry more weight and I would like a better coat condition.

Masculine black fringed red, attractive head with good eye shape and a soft expression. Strong neck and desirable bone and feet. Deep ribcage carried well back and strong loin. Moved with a positive action, holding his topline, and was considered for the RCC.

2nd: HAWORTH Mr D Miskanda C'Est Lavie

Quality cream boy, really liked his overall balance and strong quarters. He has a very good head, and excellent pigmentation, moved with a light balanced stride, but sadly dropped his topline on the move.

So little between 1st and 2nd, and on another day they could easily change places.

1st: COTTERILL Mrs J B Miskanda The Grey Gatsby

Mature, masculine grizzle boy. Built on flowing lines and has the desired rising topline with his pinbones on a level with his withers which is rarely seen any more. Long well angulated upper arm and good lay back of shoulder, deep well carried back ribcage and super strong quarters with depth through 1st and 2nd thigh. Moved with a powerful balanced action using his hocks to achieve the desired lifting, effortless movement called for in the standard. Delighted to award him his 3rd CC and BOB. Well done!

2nd: MAHON Mrs J Canapus Impala

Classic, quality male of a type so rarely seen in the ring these days; he combines strength with elegance. Masculine head with a gentle exotic expression. Strong neck and long well angulated upper arm and shoulder, deep long ribcage with just enough spring flowing into a strong loin with the desired rise; long gently angled croup giving the required strength through the quarters. Moved well with a light positive action. Could not be denied the RCC.

I have admired this bitch from the first moment I saw her as a puppy. I love her outline with her deep chest, wasp waist and curvaceous topline. She has a well angulated shoulder and upper arm and strong deep quarters. She moved very well for her talented young handler, and I was delighted to award her BV

2nd: 3095 SYDNEY Mrs E Multi Ch Daxlore Harani Of Shaybani Esp J Ch

Feminine lady who was presented in tiptop condition. She moves with a balanced, light action; she has a good topline and deep ribcage. I preferred the depth through 2nd thigh of the winner.,

Lovely cream puppy who reminded me so much of her dam at the same age. She has a pretty feminine head with dark pigmentation and dark eyes. Moderate, balanced shoulder assembly, deep ribcage for her age and good strong quarters. Moved well in profile with a very balanced action.

1st: FREEGARD Mrs A J & Mr B J Mumtaz Asteria

This young girl is maturing beautifully. She is slightly high in the rear, which was a delight to see, and has balanced angulation front and back, her topline shows the required rise over the loin. She moved with a economical balanced gait, using her strong deep quarters to advantage.

2nd: WARD Ms L Nicolefarhi Del Borghino (Imp) It

Very attractive grizzle lady who has the most beautiful expression. She was presented in gleaming condition and moved around the ring happily with a light balanced stride. I would like more rise over the loin.

1st: LEWIS, Mr C J & BRASSINGTON Mrs J J Knightellington E-isora

Not a glamorous bitch, but presented in super fit muscular condition. Everything about her is moderate as called for in the standard and she is sound on the move in all directions. She just needs the final finish of maturity to do really well.

Class LB (4 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: WARNER, Ms N & HETHERINGTON Mr B Canapus Vesper At Savuka (Imp NLD)

What a beautiful bitch this is; so classic. She has a flowing outline and oozes breed type, you could transport this bitch back to the 80s and she would not look out of place. I loved her head, moderately angulated front, deep long ribcage, rising topline and balanced deep quarters. She moved well when viewed from any angle and could not be denied the CC.

2nd: FREEGARD Mrs A J & Mr B J Jazalle Athena For Mumtaz

Another classic, moderately balanced bitch who fits the breed standard well. She has a powerful neck and a smooth topline, with no lumps or bumps. She moved with a light, positive and balanced action when viewed in profile and was true out and back. I was delighted to award her the RCC.

3rd: GARRATT, Mrs D & OAKEY, Miss S & OWEN Mr J & Mrs C Glenoak Lunah from Caryna

Class OB (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: SYDNEY Mrs E Shaybani Amunet Ebony Esp J Ch

This bitch has a beautiful online; she has good upper arm and shoulder angulation, is deep in brisket and has strong, balanced quarters. She is still very young and when she has filled her frame and stabilised in front, she will trouble the best. She moved with a powerful, light gait in profile.
