Welsh Kennel Club Championship Show 2019

Toy Group

It was an absolute pleasure to be invited to judge the Toy Group at this prestigious show and the BIS ring is one of the best in the country. The welcome and hospitality afforded to me was second to none and the officers and committee must be congratulated on putting on another fantastic show. I had the pleasure of a full group and the quality sent through was of the highest. I shortlisted 10 but in all honesty could easily have shortlisted more, such was the quality. Thank you to the breed judges for sending through some really top drawer BOB’s.

My shortlist consisted of the Affenpinscher, Australian Silky Terrier, Bichon Frise, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, English Toy Terrier, Lowchen, Maltese, Papillon, Pekingese and Pomeranian.

After another run off my Group 1 was the Bichon Frise Ch Regina Bichon You Rock My World at Pamplona. Absolutely bang on form today and putting on a very precise and faultless performance. His presentation is superb which was the icing on the cake. Gorgeous head and expression with superb pigmentation. He is so balanced in outline, strong neck into superb front assembly. His topline is strong leading into perfect tailset. Balanced in angulation behind. He was moved at a sensible pace which suited him as he carried himself with such style and deportment covering the ground with an ease of stride. Precise out and back. Superb for size, for me he asked for the group and it was my pleasure to reward him. A super dog indeed.

Group 2 and close up was the Pekingese Ch Yakee the Aristocrat . Have given him a CC and my opinion of him hasn’t changed. He is an excellent example of the breed with a delightful head and expression. Big ribbed and low slung, he picks up heavy. Super body shape and in full coat very well presented. Moves in typical fashion and could keep going all day.

Group 3 was the oh so glamorous Maltese Ch Benatone Gino D'acampo, Presented to absolute perfection and in superb condition. He is super to go over with delightful head and expression. Strong topline and moved out really well. Super dog

Group 4 the charming Affenpinscher Ch Darkle Hawker Harrier. Another I have awarded a CC to and he looked even better today. Presented sensibly and super for size. Full of type and moved with importance. He has a delightfully cheeky expression. Completed a quartet of 4 superb toy dogs.
