Field Spaniels

I would like to start by thanking the Field Spaniel exhibitors for their patience and good humour in what ended up as a very long day and the BOB only just made the group. This was my first time awarding CC’s in this delightful breed and the entry was excellent, thank you. Although rushed, I really enjoyed judging your dogs and thank you also for the very sporting way that my decisions were taken. As a bunch of exhibitors there are many breeds that could take a leaf out of your book!

Dogs:

Minor Puppy

1: MOSS Mrs A Fecimus Chase The Dream To Ewtor, 6 months old and everything in the right place. Needs to develop in head but he is extremely balanced and sound for his age.

2: HOLGATE, Mrs J & Mr C & BAUMANN Mr U F Prince Arthur Vom Belauer See At Nadavin (Imp), super for type and loved his head and expression. Just all over the place today

3: CRAVEN, Mrs E & COOPER Mr M Forness Kon

Puppy

1: HOLGATE, Mrs J & Mr C & BAUMANN Mr U F Prince Arthur Vom Belauer See At Nadavin (Imp)

2: CRAVEN, Mrs E & COOPER Mr M Forness Kon, decent type and pleasing head and expression. Just needs a bit of practice and he’ll be away.

3: RUSSELL, Miss V J & PALM Ms A Kingsmist Endeavour

Post Grad

1: HARRIS Ms J M Kingsmist Panther, very decent black with a super head and expression. Good to go over, he needs to fill out a tad but he is all there. On the move he is precise and covers the ground

2: WEBBER Mr M & Mrs L Fecimus The Kings Troop, smaller type and correct boning. Pleases for head type, not the extension on the move behind as the winner. Handled and presented very well.

3: MACBAIN, Miss A & BREWER Ms D Nautica N'fecimus Aint No Fool (Imp USA)

Limit

1: BENNETT Mr D A & Mrs J Jesham Baronet, decent one. His head is beautiful, flat bone and substance. Completely balanced he presents a very pleasing picture. Moves with precision and style. Liked him very much. He still needs to finish a little in middle piece, but when he does, will be hard to pass. RCC and a title holder of the future for sure.

Open

1: ELLIOTT Ms M Ewtor Excalibur at Portsoy, not a dog that immediately takes your eye on an initial look round as he isn’t the flashiest. However, when you look into him he is very much a Field. He is a very handsome boy of superb type and balance. His head pleases very much for balance and expression. He could possibly have a tad more chiselling but he looks at you right and there is no denying his breed. In full coat and well conditioned. On the move he carries himself in such a dignified manner with the air of an old gentleman with a pipe and will not be hurried, so typical of the breed. However, although there is no flash about him he is as sound as a pound. He has the correct flat bone and is well let down behind. The more I looked at him, the more he reminded me of the Fields I used to admire in my youth and the more I liked him. Fully mature and finished, he was very worthy of the CC and BOB today which, I was told, made him up into a Show Champion. Many congratulations.

2: TAYLOR Mr & Mrs H & S Sh Ch Elgert Take A Bow With Tayowen JW, another good one and he was close up today for higher honours. He pleases for type and has a super head and expression, in super condition. Good to go over and he is another who is the finished article. However, he was just a little wide coming towards me and this cost him. Very worthy of his title and more.

3: TYE Mr P Thandiwe Last Tango of Tymora Sh.CM

Veteran

1: RUSSELL, Miss V J & PALM Ms A Thandiwe Semper Fidelis, grand old gentleman of 10.. Good for size and type and is a credit to his owner. Moved out well.

Bitches

Minor Puppy

1: HARDING Mr M J & Mrs A E Kingsmist Miss Marple, black baby with lots of potential. Pleases very much for type. Super head and expression. Excellent forehand and good spring of rib. Just needs to drop slightly behind. Full of fun and a superb temperament, she moves well for her age and covers the ground, when she puts her mind to it. BP

2: REECE Mrs E Kingsmist Phryne Fischer At Broomeece another decent one, time on her side. Moved out well

3: SMITH Miss C Fecimus Living The Dream At Flyenpyg

Puppy

1: HARDING Mr M J & Mrs A E Kingsmist Miss Marple

2: SMITH Miss C Fecimus Living The Dream At Flyenpyg very pleasing baby of just 6 months, time is very much on her side, but I am sure that when things all fit together, we will see a lot more of her as the future is bright.

3: PORTER Mrs J Kingsmist Agatha Christie At Winsbrook

Junior

1: HARDING Mr M J & Mrs A E Kingsmist Miss Marple

2: SHIPTON Mrs S Winterbourne True Love For Mishules (Swed Imp), decent for type, pleases for head and expression. She presents a tidy outline in profile and she was better let down behind. However I just felt she could have been more positive in front action today and she gave the impression of being a little down on her pasterns.

3: SMITH Miss C Fecimus Living The Dream At Flyenpyg

Post Grad

1: MCVITTY Ms M Sonnetend Faith , really liked this young bitch, she is super for type and is totally balanced fore and aft. Correct quality flat bone, good spring of rib and super topline. She pleases for head and expression. On the move she is precise and covers the ground. Very close up today and it was by a whisker, but had to settle for the RCC. She will title I have no doubt.

2: MOORE Miss C Elgert China Girl For Gadhelic, close up and another decent young lady. I liked her head and expression. She too is balanced and has type. Just not the front of the winner.

3: SMITH Miss K A Coverwell Black Eyed Susan

Limit

1: OSBORN Ms G Elgert Lady Sta'dust JW, very stylish black in beautiful condition and presented to absolute perfection. Her head could have been a little more classical but her expression is good. She is good to go over and has a strong neck and topline. Well ribbed and let down behind. Covers the ground in profile.

2: HAZELL Mrs E A & Mr G W Ewtor Must Have Been Crazy For Vraibleu another who pleases for type and preferred her head, she too was good to go over with correct boning and substance. She just lacked enthusiasm and in doing so could have covered more ground today.

3: SMITH Miss K A Coverwell Black Eyed Susan

Open

1: HOLGATE Mrs J & Mr C Sh Ch Nadavin Thistledown JW. Stood this bitch presents a picture that is quintessentially Field. Her head and expression are delightful. Strong neck into topline and tailset. Correct boning and her forehand is superb. In good coat, well presented. Well ribbed and of good substance, yet retaining a look of femininity. She uses herself on the move in profile, just felt that she could have been a tad more positive going away, which cost her the breed. However a very worthy bitch with a lot more winning to come. CC

2: SMITH Miss C Ewtor Affinity For Flyenpyg JW Sh.CM .Another decent bitch who scored highly for type. She presents a balanced outline and moved on the right track. Just not the head of the winner or her finish.

3: BENNETT Mr D A & Mrs J Nadavin Ursella with Jesham

Veteran

1: TAYLOR Mr & Mrs H & S Sh Ch Tayowen Touch Of Elegance, an absolute delight and credit to the breed. She has a really super head, strong topline and is balanced in outline. On the move she could show some of the youngsters how it should be done. Considered her further today too. BV
