Midland Counties Canine Society

Breed: Spaniel (Cocker)

Midland Counties Canine Association

25th October 2019

Cocker Spaniels

I thoroughly enjoyed this appointment, my first time awarding CC’s to the breed. One slight concern was the number of youngsters with mouth issues. Something that needs to be watched. Presentation on the whole was excellent and temperaments superb. The sportsmanship around the ring was also refreshing.

Dogs

Minor Puppy

1: SENSQUI BLACKOUT (MRS R WILLIAMS), interesting class. This black boy is very advanced for his age. Pleases for head and expression. In super condition and moved on the right track. Big ribbed and strong topline. Correct tailset. Presented beautifully. One with a future I’m sure. BP

2: LUJESA STARRY KNIGHT OVER LUDZSKA (MRS D E LINTON), another black in super condition and so well presented. Liked his head and expression. Very cockery in outline. Not the ribbing of the winner today but this will come. Precise on the out and back. Has a future ahead of him too.

3: PENMARTAN PEAKY BLINDER (MRS T A LEWIS)

Puppy

1: GLOWHILL SPICKS AND SPECKS AT SAN MATAYO (MRS J P FAJARDO), blue roan boy of good type. Liked his head and expression. Decent neck and the best front of the class. Good feet, well ribbed and correct topline. Balanced in angulation and places his feet in the right place on the move.

2: CLARAMAND THE FLASHER (MRS E THOMAS, B/R super for size and type. Good expression, strong neck into firm topline. Moves with precision and obviously enjoys his day just not the reach in front of the winner today. But I can see them changing places.

3: PENMARTAN WINDERMERE (MRS T A LEWIS)

Junior

1: AMAROANNE THEOS JW (MR R & MRS Y LOWERY). Two super young dogs here and I was splitting hairs. They will definitely change places on more than one occasion and both should certainly title. This is a really crockery B/R with a delightful head and expression. Short backed, well ribbed and correct tailset. Decent fronted boy and all of a piece. Moves with the typical cocker bustle and keeps his outline. Like him very much indeed and in the challenge continued to impress and gained the RCC behind his sire. Good one.

2: BRACKENJACK OLLISON AT KYNA (MRS D & MR K GRICE), another very decent boy who also pleased very much for head and expression. Excellent front and well ribbed. Close up but today was just a bit proud of his tail and it spoilt his outline slightly. Presented beautifully. Champion quality for sure.

Yearling

1: BOBBY WEE DAZZLER (MISS H C WATSON), presented to perfection, this B/R is super for size and type. Pleases very much for head and expression. Totally balanced in outline he has a good front, strong neck and superb topline. Well ribbed back and short and strong in loin. Perfect tailset. Moves with style in profile.

2: SHAREMEAD THE CONQUEROR (MRS C W SHARE-JONES), slightly leggier than the winner and not as mature in ribbing. This B/R has a delightful head and expression, strong neck and excellent front on him. A tiny bit erratic on the out and back today but keeps his outline in profile.

3: SUNABIL ESGID Y GOG O LIBANUS (MS M T ROBERTS

Graduate

1: AMAROANNE APOLLO JW (MR R & MRS Y LOWERY), B/R of excellent size and type. Super head and expression. Strong topline and balanced in angulation. Well ribbed back, he is precise on the move keeping his topline. Just a tiny bit proud of his tail.

2: OAKROSA RAFFE (MRS S M R FENWICK), b/t boy in super condition and very well presented. A tiny bit longer cast than the winner. Pleases for head type and has a strong neck into firm topline. Full of himself and can sometimes decide to throw things away on the move.

3: TROVEROTHWAY JACK THE LAD AT BALAAMBECK (MRS H BECKWITH)

Post Graduate

1: OBSIDIAN SPRING MARVEL (MRS K & MR B MCSHANE), black boy, and all male. In super condition, very well presented. Kept his topline on the move in profile and this is what’s clinched the class for him today.

2: TROVEROTHWAY JACK THE LAD AT BALAAMBECK (MRS H BECKWITH), b/t boy with a really super expression. Just lost his outline and this cost him

Limit

1: SERCI AFTER DARK AT SHADOW AMOR OF CHAMFORD (IMP SRB) (MISS R CLIFFORD), these 2 boys could change places on another day both have so many qualities. This blue boy has a decent head and pleasing expression. Liked his cobbyness and type. Very well presented. Good to go over he kept his outline in profile and was the most precise on the out and back today.

2: RIONDEL CANDYMAN JW (MISS C MORRIS), another very decent boy and to be honest, I preferred his head. Strong neck and firm topline. He too pleases very much on the table. Just a little erratic coming towards me today and this was the deciding factor.

3: MANCHELA HUGO BOSS JW SHCM SHCEX (MS Y CASSIDY)

Open

1: SH CH VERATEY VINCENZO AT CASSOM JW (MISS S AMOS-JONES), two gorgeous cocker boys of slightly differing types. The day however belonged to this fully mature blue roan boy. He is fully mature and bang on form. Pleasing head and expression, strong neck into perfect topline and tailset with that typical Cocker bum. He is beautifully presented in full coat. He has fabulous ribbing, short, strong loin and good angulation behind. The perfect show dog, he never lets his handler down and has the most endearing character too. On the move he will always catch the eye and his tail never stops. I can quite understand why he has been so successful over his career and was delighted to be able to award him the CC to add to his astonishing tally. BOB over the fabulous bitch by a whisker and was delighted to watch him go on to win the group.

2: SH CH LUJESA IMPOSSIBLE DREAM (MISSES A & S KETTLE), black with a masculine head and expression. Totally Cockery in outline, he too was presented to perfection. He is excellent to go over on the table and very worthy of the title he holds. He has precision on the out and back but today I just felt he lost his outline slightly in profile and he had to pay the price. Very beautiful dog though.

Veteran

1: SH CH/INT/BEL/HUN CH JOALDY MANDOLIN WIND JW SHCM CW'12 EW'16 BELBW'1 (MISS J J PRETTY), both these oldies are an absolute credit to their owners and the breed. This b/w boy totally defies his age. He has a super head and expression, sound as a bell and can show some of the youngsters how it should be done. BV

2: ALISMA ANTON (MRS S M R FENWICK), blue boy who also has the most delightful temperament and pleasing head and expression. Just a tad narrow going away today and this is where it cost him.

Bitches

Minor Puppy

1: OLIBOND SANTA BARBARA (MR M E & MRS J E BOLD), very pretty blue baby of really super type. Lovely head and expression. Excellent to go over on the table and she is precise on the move holding her outline. Liked her.

2: GALIBAR OVER TO YOU WITH NEWCHESHIRE (MR S COOPER), very promising c/t with the most delightful head and expression. On the table she pleases enormously, just a bit more experience and she’ll be away. Champion quality for sure.

3: ANNILANN MISS MAGICSTAR AT BECKABY (MRS D L & MR G P DRIVER)

Puppy

1: LUJESA DAYDREAM BELIEVER (MISSES A & S KETTLE), black bitch of superior quality that was determined to throw it all away on the move. Pure class though and once she gets her act together, will be a certain champion.

2: PEARKIM PRUNELLA DARGESS (MESSRS R N & P W H BECQUET & DARBY), really liked this bitch for type and she held it together on the move. Maturity will be to her benefit.

3: CORAZON DE SIBI OLD FASHIONED (IMP SP) (R E & N W SMALL)

Junior

1: ZHERIDONS CHINESE WHISPERS (MR D C & MR M D TODD & RAHMAN), very close between the first 2, both very lovely bitches. This blue bitch has the most glorious head and expression and is very much all of a piece. She is excellent to go over on the table with a fabulous front on her. Really moved out well and won the class on forward reach. She has most certainly a title in front of her and very worthy of one too. Really considered her strongly in the challenge and it was just the absolute precision on the move of the red bitch that swung it her way. RCC

2: AMAROANNE ATHENA AT WILMERELLA (MR R & MRS S L WILLIAMS), really pretty blue with a delightful head and soft expression. She is so full of type and presented to perfection. Loved her to go over just could have possibly used her front a tad more today, but she too has a title in front of her I have no doubt.

3: CLARAMAND ZIGGETA AT RAYOL (MRS E & MISS C ROBERTS & SMITH)

Yearling

1: LYNSHOW KAYLA (MRS C MASON), black girl full of type and good for size. Pretty expression and cockery in outline. Moved on the right track. Well ribbed and short backed.

2: BRYNCERI ONCE IN A BLUE MOON AT BABTONKELPIE (MESSERS J & D HUTTON-BABER), pleasing for size, this blue girl is in super condition. Good head shape and very sweet expression. Holds her topline and moved out well in profile. A tad wide coming towards me today.

3: WILANORAH DAIQUIRI (MRS D & MRS D BROTHWELL & BAYLISS)

Graduate

1: WILANORAH SOUL SISTER AT WISSANT (MRS D BROTHWELL), blue bitch that won the class on her front action. Pleasing for size and type, she has a delightful character. Keeps her outline on the move.

2: CANYONN COULD IT BE MAGIC (MISS D & MRS S YOUNG), black bitch with a very imposing outline stacked. Super head and expression, she is good to go over. A little reticent on the move and this cost her slightly. Shame.

3: CASADEPERROS OCTUBRE AT DUCLARUS (MR B & MRS B SINCLAIR)

Post Graduate

1: MANCHELA LADY MILLION JW (MR M J & MR M F MASTERS & DOTT), superb b/w bitch of quality and type. So pleasing to go over with a delightful head and expression. Strong neck, correct topline and well ribbed. She is totally balanced and presented to perfection. Champion quality for sure. She moves with an easy stride and uses herself to advantage. Another I seriously considered.

2: SHEIGRA SIMPLY A STAR JW (MRS C A WEST), black bitch that is also of champion quality. So good to go over, she is another in superb condition. Cobby and short, she uses herself so well. Not as positive behind today as the winner but she will certainly change places for sure.

3: PEARKIM PIROUETTE TO NULEA (MISS A NUGENT)

Limit

1: COEDCERNYW CALENDAR GIRL JW (MR & MRS I HILLIER), absolutely gorgeous red bitch. So beautiful to go over. I could not take my eyes off her. Her head and expression were delightful, strong neck, firm topline and so cockery in outline. Her coat gleamed with condition and she was superbly presented. However, it was on the move that she could not be denied today. In profile she has an ease of stride, keeping her superb outline with falter. Out and back she was completely true. An absolute delight. In my original notes it said that she was a certain champion in the making. However, after I awarded her the CC I was told it was actually her 5th. Many more will be coming this young lady’s way, I have no doubt.

2: GRANDTULLY GABRIELLE (MR D C & MR M D TODD & RAHMAN), another gorgeous bitch, this time black. So close up and she too will carry a title. Loved her on the table and she looks superb in profile. Good going away but just not quite the precision coming towards me today.

3: WILMERELLA STORMBIRD (MR R & MRS S L WILLIAMS)

Open

1: SH CH GILCAR CRYSTAL BLUE WITH MANCHELA JW (MR M J & MR M F MASTERS & DOTT), good class. This is a delightful blue bitch. Her head and expression are super, strong neck, firm topline and correctly set tail. Well ribbed and short. Very cockery in outline. Moved out very well keeping her outline. Presented to perfection in full mature coat. Another that was very seriously considered.

2: SH CH LUJESA JEAN GENIE JW (MISSES A & S KETTLE), black bitch that is so cockery in outline stood. She is a delight to go over and everything is in the right place. On the first look around I thought she would be my winner. However, today I felt she just didn’t use her front as well as the winner and this is what cost her. Very worthy of her title and I’m sure she will have better days. I won’t argue when she does.

3: SH CH QUETTADENE STARTIME JW SHCM (MRS S & MRS P SHINKFIELD & LESTER)

Veteran

1: ANNASIDE MOONBEAM (MR P & MRS M DAVIES), blue girl of 9 years, not showing her age at all. In super condition. Good for size and type. She moved out very well.

2: WENSUM SOME LIKE IT HOT JW (MRS B M WARD, black girl of good type and a very pleasing head and expression. Just not as positive behind as the winner today. In super condition.
