Judge Leanne Challands (Annilann)

It was an honour to be asked to judge the special classes at the Italian spinone club of Great Britain championship show. I had a wonderful day and thank all my exhibits for their entries.

Special classes

Brace

1st Coldwell’s, Lucoru Bombay Sapphire & Lucoru Summer Breeze. Absolute bookends, these pair are the definition for brace, both have very pleasing heads with that classic gentle spinone expression and correct divergent head planes, well off for bone and muscled throughout, forelegs straight, feet round and compact, good coarse coat of pleasing length, ribs well sprung and carried back to a strong loin, good bend in stifle, with well let down hocks, moved free and relaxed, beautifully in unison.

2nd Fordham’s, Lucoru La Cassa at Cloudnine & Lucoru Catequil at Cloudnine. Such a sweet pair, both with beautiful heads and melting expression, strong oval boned forequarters and well muscled throughout, unexaggerated typical spinone topline sloping gently downwards from the withers rising to a strong loin, croup slightly sloping with good tail carriage, thick skin and coat coarse in texture, both moved beautifully and in unison.

Junior handling

It was a pleasure to see both these girls handling spinone so well, as a former junior handler myself I know how daunting it can be in a big ring. I hope they get both continue to show and look forward to seeing them in the ring in future. It was a very tough call to make, both represented themselves well.

1st Ruby Ball aged 11, presented herself and her dog well, was in control and moved with ease, she noticed when her dog had moved it’s back feet on the stand and corrected straight away.

2nd Summer Griffin aged 10, also presented herself and her dog well, moved with ease and was attentive to what I was asking her.
