Northern Counties Dachshund Association

Breed: Dachshund (Miniature Wire Haired)

Thank you for accepting me as a replacement judge at the very last minute. It has been a while since I last judged them and I was pleasantly surprised. Coats were generally good and it was nice to see so many happy exhibits. Hind movement let many exhibits down and several of the dogs were too long in loin, this wasn’t so much of a problem in the bitches. There were several overweight youngsters but I was more forgiving today with the hotter weather they were  needing to drink more .My BOB today had everything that I require in a mini wire dachshund  and would have taken him home without question.

Veteran Dog (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: BLACK Ch Bassodon Westwood A well constructed dog but he wasn’t impressed at being at the show today. Moved well and was very sound . Lovely head and ribs well sprung  with good length. Brightened up challenging for best veteran.

Puppy Dog (5 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: FEETHAM Hanishan Checkers At Kimbleholme A really good puppy  with a strong head , long ribbing and a sound mover. Happy and outgoing. Sired by the res cc winner a very nice type.

2nd: FULTON Bothlyn Storm Trouper Lovely boy to go over and I’m sure he’ll have a bright future. He was very flighty today which lost him his place. Presented superbly . Great head and moved freely when he put his mind to it.

2nd: TOMSETT Dajean He's A Star Happy outgoing boy , which didn’t help with his movement as he was very eractic. Good coat nice head but rather to long for me.

3rd: BLACK Lordscairnie Cauld Be Love Bassodon

1st: THORN ANDREWS Drakesleat Ivor Notion A dark brindle who was a  delight to go over with everything in the right place. Stunning head and his expression is exquisite. One of the best front constructions of the day. Lovely reach of neck and nice long ribbing. Good ground clearance, well muscled and moved with drive and purpose. Loved him CC and BOB

2nd: RUSSELL Russteck The Bruce Another great dog and one for the future. Excellent coat good expression and super size. Unfortunately he was very erratic on the move and I gave him every chance and because of this he blew the res cc in the challenge , just needs to settle.

3rd:  MILLS-JONES  Carlita Sunrise JW

Open Dog (6 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: FEETHAM Kimbleholme Jackpot A really nice type. Not exaggerated in anyway. He has a correct coat, good length of ribbing which are well sprung and nice reach of neck. Well muscled which made him a steady mover coming and going and gained him the Res CC.

2nd: THORN ANDREWS Drakesleat Evan Sent Best Correct front construction which many of the dogs lacked, good bone and proportions, very sound on the move when he got going but as many were today he was rather skittish.

3rd: ROSE Ch Ridanflight Ricardo

Veteran Bitch (2 Entries) Abs: 1

Puppy Bitch (8 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: FULTON Bothlyn Penny from Heaven This baby stood out in this class. Elegant classic lines. Great front and well proportioned throughout Not much to fault her with except she was a bit twitchy at times today as coming into season but this didn’t take away her worthy BP award and delighted to see her go BPIS

2nd: TAYLOR Pennywave Primrose For Ormanstar a nice baby with super coat . She had great profile movement but needs to muscle up more behind as she was rather loose in hind movement.

3rd: KIRKWOOD-EMERY Helydon Nifty Nairn

Junior Bitch (4 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: BLACKBURN Stargang Minnesota This was a tough class as 3 different types and anyone could change places on another day. A nice youngster with correct front , good reach of neck flowing into well sprung ribs. Excellent coat but a real handful today. When she behaves she’ll do really well but today gave away top awards being so naughty making it difficult to access her in the challenge.

2nd: DANCE Emem Constance Sunshine JW Compact neat girl. Excellent coat and good propotions throughout. Just preferred the front of the winner . Moved steady at all times another with a great temperament.

3rd: STORTON Dereheath Helen Reddy

Post Graduate Bitch (6 Entries) Abs: 2

1st: FULTON Jolanda Uptown Girl at Bothlyn The two winners of this class were probably the happiest pair in the showground. Good head well laid shoulders going into well sprung ribs. Nice tight coat unfortunately a bit tail happy which spoilt her outline on the move.

2nd: TOMSETT Dajean's Happy Sunbeam Good head and expression . Lovely dark eye and super coat especially for a red. Unlucky to meet the winner when she settles should do well.

3rd: SELLEY Ubu Fascinating Aida to Heleanne

Open Bitch (8 Entries) Abs: 3
