Manchester Championship Show 2019, Rhodesian Ridgeback

I would like to thank the Committee of Manchester Dog Show Society for the invitation to award my first set of CCs and to thank every person who has helped me to get to this point. Thank you to my ring stewards and all those who entered today.

I have not commented on ridges or temperaments as on the whole they were correct. Though as a breed we need to be careful that we don’t lose the ridgeback head or the harmonising coat and eye colour that is in our standard. It was lovely to see so many dogs in complete harmony with their handlers

Class MPD (7 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: ANTHONY Mr G & Mrs J, Rottzridge I Am Wrath, lovely 8 month old who is today, a good size and well balanced young dog, nice clean masculine head with dark eye, skull flat and broad between ears, good ear set, strong neck leading in to correct shoulders and a strong front, pleasing rear quarters with correct angulation, nice tight feet, good muscle tone throughout, moved with ease, as I expected, has a very promising future. BPD, BPIB. Charmed to see him make the cut in the Puppy Group.

2nd: RAYMOND Mrs N D, Sofala Lightening Strike, another lovely puppy, 6 months old, who has a good balanced head, nice shoulders, length of body and good angulation in hindquarters, moved well when settled. 1st was more settled on the move today.

 3rd: BELL, Ms C & BELL, Bodhiroca Mavericks

Class PD (7 Entries) Abs: 2 1st: ASHMAN Mrs M & Mr N, Patemeliann Red Tarka At Kitaarka, 10 months old, well-constructed, balanced male of good height and length, correct amount of bone, good head, long strong neck leading into shoulders which are well laid back, good top line, good turn of stifle, tight feet, moved with reach and drive, as would expect at this age.

2nd: CUNNINGHAM Mr G & Mrs J, Trendsetter Lethal Weapon, 9 months old, strong head with round dark eye, strong neck and top line, good rear quarters, slightly high behind but going though that stage of his development, moved well once settled,

3rd: RAYMOND Mrs N D. Sofala Lightening Strike

Class JD (4 Entries) Abs: 2

1st: SALMON, Mrs K & HOUSE Mr M, Diamondridge Legend At Lobengula 15 months old, superb head with correct proportions, nice dark eye with great expression, correct ear set, good strong neck leading into shoulders which are well laid back and strong foreleg, chest correct depth and ribs well sprung, well defined muscle and angulated hind quarters, moved with powerful but effortless reach and drive. Very pleased to award him the CC

2nd: MILLS Miss S & Mrs L, Priorpark Jabari for Nzuri 17 months old male very much still a youngster, very masculine head which I would prefer more length, deep chest and good top line, well angulated in the hind quarters, moved well.

Class PGD (6 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: HEALEY Mr J & Mrs K S, Diamondridge Catch A Dream. A nicely matured 18 months old, strong in bone and with a pleasing outline, head typical expression, good dark eye, pleasing shoulders and topline, well angulated in the hindquarters and good compact feet. Moved with reach and drive.

2nd: MURRAY Mrs J L & Mr J, Dellared, Natural Mystic. 18 months old nice all-round male who is well constructed and has lovely muscle tone, strong but not overdone head, fore and hind angulation correct, moved well once settled, would prefer him to carry a little more weight

3rd: HEWSON Mrs L C & Mr P, Patemeliann Shaka

Class LD (11 Entries) Abs: 2

1st: WHITESIDE Mr & Mrs A, Jimanns The Doctor, A lovely young male 22 months a dog I have watched from the side lines who is maturing very nicely, exquisite muscle tone and good bone, head typical of the breed, strong but not overdone, inquisitive expression, neck of good length leading in to correct shoulder placement and foreleg. Chest deep and ribs well sprung, good length of loin. Great rear angulation with hocks well let down. Moved with a natural reach and drive, was considered for RCC

2nd: CHAVEZ-NOVOA Mrs L M, Carlincox First Impression JW, a dog I have judged before and once again doesn’t disappoint, 2 years old much the same as 1st, but I felt the 1st moved better today.

3rd: PHILLIPS Mrs S Ulwazi's Born To Run First At Zsushaunna

Class OD (6 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: CRAVEN, Mrs G & MACKFALL Mr J, Ch Hespa Henry Higgins JW very mature male of good size, with a masculine head, set on a strong neck, robust chest, shoulders well laid back and good topline and rear angulation. Good bone and has excellent muscle condition, moved free and easy.

2nd: ANTHONY Mr G & Mrs J, Ir Ch Rottzridge Nemesis another dog I have watched from the side lines, well-constructed throughout, well boned and muscled, he has a strong pleasing head with good expression, long strong neck, clean and sloping shoulders into good forelegs. Deep chest and well ribbed back, strong loin, good rear angulation. Slipped on the first run round and unfortunately could not get his full stride back after that.

3rd: DEACON, Miss L & WILDING Mr R, Kiromol Kindred Spirit Sh.CM

Class VD (3 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: MULLIGAN, Mrs G E & Mr J & MULLIGAN Miss C, A Zougani Zuri Sh.CM hard to believe that this lovely dog is 9 years old, still very much in his prime, he can give any youngster a run for their money. Super head which great expression. Shoulders well laid back, nice deep chest, good topline, ribbing and croup. Correct angulation in the hind quarters. Moves with reach and drive, in balance front and back, showing no sign of slowing down anytime soon. Pleasure to award him RCC.

2nd: HURN, Mrs N & Mr M, Rufus On The Lawn Of Matikiridge Sh.CM. Another dog not showing his age at 7 years old, a little taller than 1st but of good proportions and clean outlines, nice head and expression would like slightly more angulation in the hind quarters. Moved with reach and drive.

Class MPB (8 Entries) Abs: l

1st: PARRISH, Mrs D, Rottzridge The Girl Is Mine, litter sister to the first in MPD and she has all the same attributes but with a feminine stamp, handler needs to have more confidence in her own ability as she handles this young puppy really well.

2nd: HARVEY Mr D A & Mrs A, Mwanzo Silver Rainbow, another lovely puppy, 7 months old and there is lots to like about her, beautiful head with cheeky expression, strong neck and top line she has good rear angulation and moved well.

3rd: ANTHONY Mr G & Mrs J, Rottzridge Celtic Kandi

Class PB (7 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: HEMSTOCK, Dr S L, SANJESH Mr & HEMSTOCK Miss J, Patemeliann Wicked Lady Jolihem 10 months old who is very mature for her age lovely head, correct strong shoulders which are well laid back and nice topline and good rear angulation, good tight feet and correct amount of bone. Moves with lightness, reach and some drive. BPB

2nd: STOREY, Mr P M & Mrs E P & PIEHL Mrs L Kiromol Come Up And See Me another 10 months old, of very similar in type to first, just not as mature. Another with pleasing movement. I am sure that these 2 will be exchanging places many times to come.

3rd: HICKS Mrs S & Mr J Nuthouse Queen Of Clubs

Class JB (5 Entries) Abs: 1 A hard decision between 1st and 2nd.

1st: PARSONS Miss H Priorpark Pipsicle nice young 16 month bitch who has a lovely outline very feminine head with good proportions, she is strong all over with good well laid back shoulders, chest does need to drop but she is only young, nice top line with slight rise over loin, correct hind angulation good pasterns and nice tight feet, moves with good reach and drive once she has settled.

2nd: CATLEY, Miss A & MCGIMPSEY Mr R Diamondridge Roll The Dice For Royalridge this is another lovely young bitch at 15 months old she has good bone but still very feminine typie head with kind expression, good angulation all round and moves with reach and some drive.

3rd: PORCZYNSKA Miss S Diamondridge Destiny Child

Class PGB (10 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: GOMES Mr M, Jimanns Shoot From The Hip, really like this bitch she is well muscled and boned yet still very feminine, head of perfect portions with nice round dark eye, correct ear set, reachy neck that flows into good shoulders which are well laid back Strong well boned foreleg Deep chest though would prefer a little more fore chest, well ribbed back, strong loin and well defined hindquarters with hocks well let down, nice tight feet, moves with ease showing her reach and drive that takes her little effort, very honoured to award her the RRC which I am sure there will be more of.

2nd: PARSONS Miss H, Priorpark Pipsqueak littler sister to the first in the previous class and she shares all the same attributes.

3rd: BARNES Mr K J & Mrs L A Diamondridge Dream Catch Me JW

Class LB (14 Entries) Abs: 3 A very strong class

1st: BATES Mrs J M & Mr D H Gunthwaite's Tickled Pink JW this bitch is what I envision in near perfection of what a ridgeback bitch should be, strong yet feminine, well muscled, but not overdone, with clean lines, beautiful head with steadfast gaze, correct proportions and nice dark round eye, good ear set the whole well set into a strong arched neck. Shoulders well laid back with good return of upper arm, strong forelegs and pasterns. She has a good deep fore chest, pleasing topline with slight arch over loin and super rear angulation with good turn of stifle and well let down hocks, she has beautiful effortless movement and never put a foot wrong. Overjoyed to award her BCC and BOB, was informed that I had given her, her Crown. She was also shortlisted in a very strong Hound Group.

2nd: CUNNINGHAM Mr G & Mrs J Walamadengie Coco Chanelle Jun Ch another lovely bitch only 17 months old but she holds her own with the big girls, she has a lovely head, good shoulders, nice topline, strong hindquarters, well defined muscles, moves with expected reach and drive for her age.

3rd: MANNING Mr & Mrs F M & A C Fiadma Mrs Clause Nyekundo

Class OB (8 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: CUNNINGHAM Mr G & Mrs J, Grand Ch MNE Ch Ir Ch Walamadengie Milady Luck, Ir J Ch, Attractive bitch who catches the eye. Good head onto reachy neck, strong shoulders and forelegs. Ribs well sprung and correct topline. Correct rear angulations, mirroring front. Moved with full reach and drive on good feet,

2nd: STOREY, Mr P M & Mrs E P & PIEHL Mrs L Ch Kiromol Midsummer Spirit JW another attractive bitch that I have judged before, nice head strong neck good front angulation with strong pasterns, nice topline. Correct rear angulations, tight feet. Moved with reach and drive.

3rd: 1078 FARLEIGH Mrs M L Ch Kinabula Bin There Done That

Class 320 VB (6 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: THOMPSON, Mr G A & TAYLOR Miss D S Ch Kelshanti Jamila Urbi 8.5 year old bitch who like the VD is still in her prime, she is strong but is still feminine and well muscled. Typey head and kind expression set on pleasing neck, nice deep chest with good shoulders and forelegs, correct slope of pastern and tight feet, well sprung ribs, pleasing top and under line, a good amount of rear angulation, balanced front and back, she powers round the ring with reach and drive expected from the breed.

2nd: RAYMOND Mrs N D Sofala So Fantastique, 7.5 years old bitch who is not showing her age, again a good head and kind expression, strong neck and shoulders, good topline, underline and hind quarters moved out with reach and drive.

3rd: SHAW Mr W & Mrs M Ch Makibos Kilimalemrika Of Negasi Sh.CM
