I would like to thank the committee of Bath Championship Show for the honour of judging at their show. We were blessed with fabulous weather, the showground and rings were perfect, with a good atmosphere around the ring. A huge thank you to the exhibitors and their lovely dogs for the pleasure of judging them. Also to my 2 great stewards, thank you so much for your assistance.

1st: 161 MANN Mr & Mrs J R & V Valger Ragnar

Much to like about this dog who is coming up 9 months of age. Thought him to be well proportioned and having good balance when stacked for one so young. Pleasing masculine and lean head, well shaped eye. Good length of neck showing the slight crest, flowing well into a firm short back. Brisket down to the elbow and nicely angulated fore and aft. Showing a lovely stride in profile, needing to tighten in front, super drive from the rear

2nd: 167 ROSE, Mrs S & HUNT Miss D Pingarypoint Top Secret At Kavacanne

Another pleasing youngster, of a different stamp to winner being a little taller on the leg and still needing to fill his frame a little more, but at only 8 months old he has plenty of time. He has a masculine head and kind expression. Clean neck of good length, nicely filled in forechest, enough depth with a good spring to the ribs. Well boned limbs with a good sweep of stifle. Shown in a good harsh jacket. Moving out true, just a little bum high at present

Spirited and fun loving 11 month old dog. Very smart and balanced in profile. He is masculine but not overdone, with strength and good bone. His head is well balanced with a good length to the foreface, a well shaped eye colour toning well with the coat. Clean neck of good length, flowing well into his firmly held topline. Thought he had lovely depth and development of forechest and brisket. Having a positive footfall on the move, with the odd bounce thrown in for good measure! - BPD

21 month old solid liver dog. Liked his overall size and shape, he is masculine yet graceful. Handler and dog not quite working in harmony as yet, but this will come with practice. Well proportioned head, being clean cut and with a good length to the foreface, eye a shade light at present. Being well developed through the body, showing good depth to the brisket. Holding a firm topline. Well bent stifles which he used on the move

Showing a good stride in profile movement

Eye catching 2 year old dog, just right for size and balance, having an impressive outline when stood. His head shows good proportion of backskull and foreface, eyes tone well with coat, give a kind and intelligent expression. Clean long neck flowing seamlessly into a firm, short and well held topline. Lovely depth to the brisket with a good spring to the ribs. Well boned limbs onto compact feet. A powerful and driving mover, today losing out on top honours as not as tidy in front. Shown with a short harsh jacket

An honest and workmanlike 6 year old dog, with many qualities. He has a pleasing outline on the stack, standing over plenty of ground. Masculine head, kind expressive eyes. Strong neck, deep through the body with a well developed forechest, holding a firm topline both stood and on the move. His hindquarters have a good bend of stifle and well let down hocks. Moving well, but not the drive of the winner today

He has a balanced head shape of good length, with a kind intelligent dark eye. He has a lovely flow from nose to tail. Deep through the brisket with a good spring to the rib. Firm short back, with well angulated hindquarters. He moves with precise and powerful strides showing drive from the rear. Put down in super muscular condition with good coat texture. Delighted to award him the CC and BOB

This 5 year old dog, has a shapely silhouette when stood, he is masculine with a hint of elegance giving him the desired grace of outline. He has a lovely long lean head, with good width to the backskull, and desired length of foreface. Chest is well let down to the elbow, forechest well developed and well boned limbs onto compact feet. He has the short back, with pleasing hindquarters showing width to the thigh and well bent stifles. He was in harmony with his handler moving with power reach and drive - RCC

Moving at one with her handler, just a little untidy in front, but good drive from the rear

She has an impressive outline and flows from nose to tail. Her head is of good proportions, with a soft and intelligent expression. Clean neck of good length, firm short back. Lovely depth and development of the brisket, with well boned limbs onto tight feet. Well angulated hindquarters with a good width of thigh. Shown with a harsh jacket. On the move she had drive and reach, with precise footfalls – BPIB & Puppy Group 1

Another promising puppy, with plenty to admire, having elegance, femininity but with enough substance. Lovely feminine head, good length to the foreface and with well shaped eye to give a soft expression. Good length of neck, and depth to the brisket, firm short back, with a well set on tail. Hindquarters show a nice sweep of stifle. Correct coat texture. Moving out well, but not quite the precision of winner today.

Of a different stamp to winner, but another super pup, that I liked very much. Workmanlike with super substance and development all through, nothing is overdone and very feminine. She has good proportions and type. Pleasing head, clean cut, well proportioned, with eye toning with coat. Brisket down to the elbow, well sprung ribs, she has strength in her rear end which she used to power around the ring, show to be true fore and aft, today not as firm in topline as winner. Good harsh coat and at one with her handler

Liked her overall body proportions, of a nice size, short backed and feminine. Pleasing head clean neck with a slight crest, deep through the brisket, standing on well boned limbs, firm level topline, and a lovely sweep of stifle. She has a ground covering side action on the move, a little wide behind, straight and true in front.

Showing reach and drive, not as clean in front as winner today, lovely power from the rear

Good depth to the brisket and standing on well boned limbs with compact feet. Her ribs are well sprung and well developed through the body, hindquarters have a good width of thigh and in good muscle tone. Free and positive on the move – RCC

Pleasing depth to the ribcage, which are carried well back, with a strong muscular rear, with hocks well let down. Excellent side gait, not as settled in her front movement, lovely drive from the rear. Shown in a harsh jacket

Sturdy yet elegant 4 year old bitch, with many fine qualities. Quite a character, and a bit of a chatter box! She is full of quality and has good balance and harmonious proportions when stood. Feminine head, which is well proportioned, clean neck of good length with a slight arch. Lovely depth and development of forechest, well sprung ribs and nicely boned limbs. Hindquarters muscular, which she used to drive around the ring, today preferring the topline of winner on the move. Super coat and condition
