Chow Chows

My first Championship Show appointment with the breed and nine years since I passed the JCCTS seminars. My thanks to the efficient stewards and welcoming show society. The Bath showground goes from strength to strength. I had some lovely dogs to go over. The breed always challenges decision making in the ring but I really enjoyed this appointment.

Class 1430 MPD (3 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 3528 SQUIRES Miss L Kobomika Rumpelstiltskin At Kyong

Lovely puppy with good strength throughout. Short, strong coupling. Lovely head with good muzzle shape and broad skull. Well set ears. Moving soundly with a good swinging movement. Excellent tail set. Lovely presentation BPD and BPIB

2nd: 3507 GODBER Mr S B & Mrs P M Lechan Rodrik

Very much a baby puppy but with huge promise. Standing square when settled. Good neck, body and profile. Many breed attributes but head needs to broaden yet. Excellent tail set and moved soundly when he concentrated.

1st: 3527 SMITH Mrs H Deli Tiger Sapling To Helyenhu (Imp) It

A black on the smaller end of the standard, but everything is in proportion. The best of bodies and the tightest of loins. Well set tail. Fabulous head and good muzzle. Great bone and feet. Very sound and typical gait. I would like a little more of him all over, but a promising youngster.

2nd: 3519 LOVELL Mrs P Dragonsway Bogan at Pamlor

A square chap standing, taller than 1. Good head and eye. Needs to develop more in the rib yet. Very firm first and second thighs and well set on tail. Moving out with drive which was sound but not breed specific.

Good bone and body on this well tempered lad. I would prefer more neck for his size and a better tail set. Moving freely.

2nd: 3517 LINDSAY Mrs D JD Lindchow Bao Peng

Well presented male. At one time he would have been what was required in the breed, but for me he is overdone and not as sound on the move as 1.

Two quality blacks heading this class

1st: 3508 GODBER Mr S B & Mrs P M Jenrene's Mighty Zack At Lechan

In fabulous condition, this boy stands 4 square and really enjoys himself in the ring. Clean head with good proportions and enough muzzle. Good strong neck going into clean shoulder. Moving soundly with balanced front and rear action producing a pendulum gait. Very straight on the up and down. Excellent tail set. Dog CC.

2nd: 3515 JAKEMAN Mrs S L Tanlap Tarron

Many of the same remarks apply but he lacked body coat on the day. Head is lovely with good width across muzzle and skull. Again, a sound mover with typical side gait.

1st: 3520 PARSONS Mrs J Jenrene's Mighty Enzo

Full coated, up to size, shaded red. Leonine head and clean eye. Strong body and loin. Well set on tail. Great bone and tight feet. Moving with great aplomb, very truly. ResCC

2nd: 3501 CUMMINS, Mr A M & ROGERS Mrs S I Ch Dragonsway Tom Thumb JW Sh.CM

Lighter built male than 1 but many good qualities. Good neck and firm body. Rather well developed stifles meaning he moves out soundly but not typically.

1st: 3525 SADLER Mrs R L & Mr S Ruishi Radiance At Tomorady

A sweet girl at her first show. She did very well and took all in her stride. Excellent profile and enough bone for her size. Head is OK for size but has some wrinkle on muzzle. Excellent body and firm rear. Stifles rather well developed. Moved soundly in this class.

1st: 3499 COLE Mr M Kobomika Kween Bee

Lovely baby with a good overall picture Enough muzzle, well shaped and clean eye. Good body proportions and excellent coupling. Presented beautifully and moving soundly. Ears need to settle yet but otherwise a great prospect.

2nd: 3506 FISHER Mrs L Poppykins Russia With Love

Rather nonplussed by the occasion but a sweet natured girl. Nice overall proportions. Well groomed. Needs to gain confidence.

1st: 3500 COLE Mr M Kobomika Once Upon A Tyme

Up to size black who presented a lot of quality. Very strong to go over and with fabulous bone, this girl presented a lovely profile with good legs, neck and body. Very strong rear. Moved with a very typical action.

2nd: 3512 GREEN Mr R Jamarhys Iseult

Another well made bitch. Lovely body and loin. Very good action on the move. Eyes could be cleaner. Moving with a good action.

3rd: 3526 SADLER Mrs R L & Mr S Ruishi The Oracle

1st: 3529 SQUIRES Miss L Shasadee Shirley Valentine From Kyong

Well grown bitch with good qualities Good neck and body. Good pigment. Stands a little long for me. Very sound on the move.

Class 1443 PGB (4 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: 3504 FILER, Mrs G & ARNOLD Mr D Mosspark Blue Delight

Neat blue bitch with very clean head and eye. Good body and coupling. Square and compact. Well set on tail. Moving freely and with a balanced action.

2nd: 3505 FINLAY, Mr D M G & FINLAY Mr S D A Finchow Freya

Presented in immaculate order. Lovely quality bone and overall built. Standing over more ground than 1. Moving out, her rear is better than her front. Looks beautiful stacked.

3rd: 3525 SADLER Mrs R L & Mr S Ruishi Radiance At Tomorady

Class 1444 LB (4 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 3516 KING Mrs J G Shulian Shimmering Star at Kweichow JW

Neat bitch with good proportioned head and clean eye. Good strong neck and excellent body. Well set on tail. Not quite in full coat but loved her size and overall proportions

2nd: 3509 GODBER Mr S B & Mrs P M Lechan Starlight

Fully mature true fawn bitch. Excellent presentation. Clean eye but not so pleasing in head as 1. Does not need more weight.

Class 1445 OB (3 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: 3521 PARSONS Mrs J Ch Jenrenes Loving Black Jack TAF

Neat black bitch in excellent double coat. Standing 4 square, she presents a well balanced picture with all proportions just right. Lovely head and well set ears. Good neck into firm body and coupling. Moderate matching angles front and rear. Well set on tail. Beautifully presented. CC and BOB. I thought my dog and bitch excellent representatives of the breed. The bitch just appealed a little more on the last go round.
