Thank you to all exhibitors who supported my appointment by exhibiting their Beardies under me. I enjoyed my experience very much and it was good to see the people in the breed sharing food, drink and a party atmosphere following judging.


Class 316 MPD (5 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 923 JAY Mr & Mrs M & Miss L Farmarens Drums Of Spring At Talraz (Swed Imp) a well grown 7 month old dark slate coloured male who has quality in construction combined with breed type and possesses great promise. Attractive head of pleasing shape and proportions and together presents a very engaging expression. Desirable development of bone and body, well balanced and angulated front and rear, low hocks, all complimented by a dense coat; Moved with confidence and a pleasing true free positive front action.

2nd: 930 KIRBY Mrs S & Mr D Finesk The Dancing Master a 6 month old well coated slate youngster who has pleasing bone and body development although at a stage in growth where he tends to look a bit longer in loin than 1st. Attractive head set on good length neck, adequate body and ribbing leading to nicely angled hindquarters and low hocks. Moved with a free action though a little close behind.

1st: 934 KUZ Mr S Duncannas Special Edition an eye-catching 11 month old dark slate male who has an attractive breed typical head which is all in proportion to his overall appearance. He has desirable bone and body development and is true in front with pleasing angulations behind having good width and parallel low set hocks. Presents a well-balanced, well-proportioned and well coated side profile picture. Moved with true extension in front and definite drive behind. Best Puppy in Breed and later Pastoral Puppy Group 3.

2nd: 944 MACDOUGALL Mr J Clanmac Braw Broon a 13 month old reddish-fawn young male who has an attractive, breed typical, masculine head set on a moderate length neck; pleasing profile although preferred the length and loin of 1st. He has desirable bone growth and body development; needs to tighten in front both standing and on the move. Well angulated front and rear with low hocks. Plenty of free action on the move but not as good in front extension of 1st.

1st: 977 WATSON, Ms E & CONNEALY Mr D Bryonyhill Wizard Merlyn a shapely 23 month old well coated dark slate masculine looking Beardie who is well boned and bodied; stands well over the ground. Pleasing head, eyes and expression, front tended to stand wide but he has pleasing tight elbows. Good length neck set well into shoulders and nicely made body with well angled hindquarters. Moved with a free and happy action although would prefer more reach in front and to strengthen in rear.



Class 320 GD (3 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: 969 SAVAGE, Dr S A & MCLEAN Mr D Talraz Comic Relief At Canaich JW a well coated dark slate 2 year old masculine headed, but breed typical male, having a very well made front with fore-chest and ideal width all through. Presents a pleasing well balanced and proportioned profile appearance. He is ribbed well back and has a short strong loin both of which I preferred to 2nd. Pleasing front extension on the move and good width parallel drive behind.

2nd: 973 SHAW Mr & Mrs T & G Ramsgrove Sun Charm a good length well coated 2-year-old slate male who is attractive in head, eyes and expression. True enough in front but would like more obvious fore-chest and width across the chest. Plenty of length over the back with equal length of ribbing and loin. Moved out with enthusiasm but not as precise in front action as 1st.


Class 321 PGD (4 Entries) Abs: 2

1st: 937 LECKENBY Mrs J & Mr S Kiltondale Amarillo Star a shapely 3-year-old dark slate mature looking male who has satisfying proportions and a balanced appearance. Pleasing head, good length neck and well-made body, which is ribbed well back, firm in top-line, true front, good width and fore-chest. Balanced in angulations front and rear. Moved with true purpose with desirable extension in front and drive behind.

2nd: 980 WINSOR Miss C Roxilyn Smart As They Come a well coated mature looking 3 year old male who is attractive in head which is masculine but breed typical; well made front but preferred tighter front of 1st both when standing and moving. Tending to feel the heat of the day and so appeared to wilt in profile when standing and when moving.


Class 322 LD (9 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: 975 WALDRON Ms J L Snowmead Shades Of Gray JW an impressive well coated 2 year old s/grey male who caught my eye with his well-balanced, ‘in proportion’ overall profile shape. He has a very attractive head of good shape and size, true well boned front, fore-chest, lay back of shoulder and is ribbed well back with a firm loin and top-line. Pleasing angles front and rear with good length hindquarters and low hocks. Moved well especially impressively in side gait.                                                                                                                                                                      2nd: 914 GLASGOW Mrs A M Jb De Chester At Gallus (Imp) a 4-year-old s/grey male in mature coat and body development, another who has a very pleasing appearance and profile shape. Similar in look to 1st although not as well ribbed back and tended to be less firm in top-line. Well enough made in front and forequarters and stronger in angulation behind than 3rd. Free and easy on the move although close behind.

Class 323 OD (11 Entries) Abs: 3

1st: 943 LEWIS, Mrs J & EDINBORO Miss A Ch Potterdale Potential JW a super quality mature 4-year-old striking dark slate male of excellent proportions, size and shape. Presented in impressive coat and condition. Very attractive breed typical head with dark eyes and correct ears.  He has commendable conformation in front and forequarters having desirable fore-chest with a mature body and having spring and ideal length of ribbing. True front with tight elbows, sound in body construction with pleasing length of loin, strong back and firm top-line. Presents a very admirable breed typical picture both standing and moving with his free, true, effortless reaching movement. My Dog CC and Best of Breed.

2nd: 942 LEWIS Mr M J & Mrs J Ch Potterdale Platinum Plus another mature well coated and well presented 6½ year old male who looks to be continuing in his prime; of similar make and shape to 1st which is not surprising as he is his sire!! Overall he presents a very well balanced profile and outline which I just preferred to 3rd. Attractive head, eyes and expression, true front, well-constructed in forequarters, fore-chest, body and hindquarters with balance of angulations front and rear. Moved with an easy free action but not as settled in front action as 1st.

1st: 966 ROBINSON Mr & Mrs D & J Thingamebob Shes A Star a 13 month old d/slate feminine youngster who has plenty of development potential. She is well made all through with a true well boned front, well grown in body being well ribbed back and having just enough length in loin and good length nicely angled hindquarters. Lovely head and expression. Overall she is pleasing in appearance and moved well both going away and coming back.

1st: 978 WEIGHTMAN Mrs D Debbeacol Takes Two To Tango a well grown 8 month old beautiful young bitch who is breed typical in characteristics and has quality in construction and has exciting promise. Very attractive head both in shape and proportions and altogether presents a very engaging expression. She has pleasing development in bone and body and although moved in a typical unsettled puppy style she did enough to show that she has a very promising future.

2nd: 898 BURSCOUGH Mrs C & Mr A E Kilfinan Ladybird a very promising 6 month old slate grey who has a lovely head with all the desired basics in conformation and breed characteristics. A very promising youngster. Still very much a baby in appearance compared to an older puppy in 1st. She has a very pleasing overall profile shape with desirable bone and body with a true front although narrower than 1st. She stands over the ground showing a pleasing outline and profile. Moved with a confident action but tended to be a bit close hocked when moving away.

1st: 880 AYRTON Mrs E M Aoibh Fiery Flamenco a very nice quality 10 month old feminine youngster who is well grown has pleasing bone and body development. Attractive head in proportion to the rest of her enhanced by her furnishings, eyes and expression. True enough in front, needs to mature in body, good top line with a balanced profile. She has a pleasing foundation structure making for a promising future. Best mover of the class.

2nd: 958 PEIRSON Mrs L & Mr G Kiltondale Kinkyboots a very smart b/slate 9 month well coated young bitch of obvious quality and great promise. She presents a very satisfying profile and has the outline and coat which shows her to advantage. Well boned front, well-made body and hindquarters. A bit reticent which did not help her standing or moving but her qualities could not be ignored.

A quality class to judge

1st: 915 GLASGOW Mrs A M Malandex Xpats Gem At Gallus a super 15 month old slate grey who for me was breed typical and was of the make and shape I liked and impressed me all the more as I went over her. In appearance she is all in proportion and of correct size and length to height proportions. Beautiful head both in shape, length and width, with pleasing dark eyes, good ears and an alert, intelligent expression. Pleasing in conformation from head to tail and was the best mover complimenting her conformation.

2nd: 900 COLLEY, Mrs E & WALDRON Mrs J Victory Winds Ocean Pearl For Snowmead a very attractive 16 month old shaded red fawn, shown in plentiful coat and has a pleasing overall make and shape. Very attractive head, moderate length of neck and she is well boned and bodied being ribbed well back. Moved with purpose and a pleasing front action but tended to be close behind.

2nd: 924 JAY Mr & Mrs M & Miss L Talraz Relight My Fire JW a attractive 20 month old shaded grey who is pleasing in length to height proportions and although well coated has sufficient light under not to impede movement or appear too heavy. Lovely head and alert expression, good length neck, length of back and hindquarters all fitting together well to present a pleasing picture. Easy, free movement but let herself down in rear action.

Very attractive head of pleasing size and shape and having a bright, alert expression. True well boned front of ideal width, tight elbows, ribbed well back, firm top-line and strong loin, pleasing angles front and rear. Moved well and best of this quality class.

2nd: 960 PALFREYMAN Mr T & Mrs C Scalbeck In The Spot Light a 3½ year old slate well-made bitch who also has a very pleasing side profile and overall make and shape. Attractive in head, moderate in neck and well boned and bodied with pleasing angles front and rear. Moved well and free with front action that edged her above 3rd.

1st: 902 COPE, Mrs B & KEMP, Mrs C & COPE Miss E Scalbeck Sophistication At Menander an impressive 3½ year old d/slate quality looking bitch who has an eye-catching outline and overall profile. Looks good viewed from the front, side and rear. Beautiful head enhanced by her lively, alert expression. Head set on correctly to her strong reasonable length neck; true well boned front, mature well-made body being ribbed well back and having a firm loin and flowing to nicely angled hindquarters with low hocks. She was one of, if not, the best moving bitch here today. My Bitch CC winner. A close decision between her and the Dog CC winner for Best of Breed. The male edging it on overall performance and outline in the challenge.

2nd: 925 JAY Mr & Mrs M & Miss L Talraz May Queen JW a mature 5-year-old slate bitch who has the most attractive head altogether in size, shape combined with her expression. She is beautifully presented making the most of her full coat. Similar in shape and profile as 1st and another who is of pleasing length/height proportions and having balance in angulations. She is of satisfying construction in body from front to hindquarters and has a strong top-line of pleasing length. Moved with a purposeful, easy true action.

1st: 901 COPE Mrs B Miss Dior De Chester At Menander (Imp) a a super quality 3 year old impressive slate mature looking bitch of excellent size, proportions and shape. Beautiful breed typical head, twinkly eyes and correct ears.  She has pleasing conformation in front and forequarters possessing desirable fore-chest and being ribbed well back. Tight in elbows, well bodied with ideal length of loin, strong back and firm top-line. Breed typical in appearance possessing all the qualities of one of the top bitches in the breed. Free striding, effortless reaching movement. My Reserve Bitch CC winner.

2nd: 892 BROOKS, Miss P & GRUNDY Mr S Ch Heleview Heartbreaker From Fraglestone JW a very striking rising 5 year old quality shaded red/fawn who has a well-groomed, abundant double coat and presents a very smart appearance; stands well over the ground although preferred the length ribbing of 1st. Attractive head, good neck and substance of body with stable firm nicely angled hindquarters. Free and positive on the move, closer in rear action than 1st.

Class 334 VB (9 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: 972 SEWELL Mrs M Ch Pretty Bear Real Special Lady For Kemelstowe (Imp) a quality 8 year old mature well coated d/slate bitch presenting a full coated, well balanced and proportioned profile and in commendable condition. Attractive feminine and typy in head set well onto a strong good length neck and into nicely laid-back shoulders and firm body which is of pleasing length over her back with a firm level top line. Pleasing free action although a little reserved and capable of better.

2nd: 948 MAY Mrs A & Mr N Sengalas Indiana Rose another notable 8-year-old in exemplary coat and condition Lovely head, eyes and expression. Very satisfying overall shape and proportions. Well made in front, firm in body and nicely let down stable hindquarters. Pleasing in overall length of back and firm in top line. Nothing in exaggeration, balanced in look and all in proportion. Free and easy action of movement.
