It was good to be amongst the IWS again; there was a sporting ringside and all dogs were shown in good condition. It was a disappointment to myself (and, I am sure, to the owners) that a couple of exhibits proved rather difficult to handle. It is worth remembering that whilst the Standard says “initially aloof”, it also calls for a “stable disposition” and nothing beats the breed’s “sense of humour”!

Class 1731 MPD NO ENTRIES

Class 1732 PD (3 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 7106 BUSBY, Mrs R H & BUSBY Miss O F Stanegate Leading Role At Zakby, most promising youngster of almost 11 months, very good for type, pleasing size and overall proportions, masculine without being overdone, very good legs and feet, well-constructed all through with balanced angulation fore and aft, good body with correct rib already, good coat of tight ringlets, very good on the move where he is true fore and aft and carries himself very well in profile where he impresses overall, pushed hard for top honours, RCC and BPIB, went on to PG3, one with a future;

2nd: 7117 NORMAN, Ms V & STUBBS, Ms J & MCLAUGHLIN Miss H Gloi Donn Bogey Man For Glenderry, extrovert youngster with many virtues, clearly has a fun disposition which is good to see, bigger than 1 but with good outline, good bone and correct feet, correct topline and coat, sound mover, would have pressed harder but for one ‘if’;

3rd: 7118 PARR Mrs V Thor Of Thingwall

Class 1733 JD (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 7112 HACKETT Mr J Curlyco My Hot Rockstar, youngster of just 13 months, well presented, shown in good condition and well-schooled, he is a pleasing size with good eye colour, refined head, correct coat, sound mover, needs time to develop and would prefer better tail carriage on the move;

2nd: 7118 PARR Mrs V Thor Of Thingwall

Class 1737 OD (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 7110 DAVIES Mrs E & Mr M Stanegate Fly Me To The Moon With Shelseivad Sh.CM, extrovert six years old who is one that has good coat, body, strength over loins and keeps his topline on the move, would prefer more strength of bone and rather close behind;

1st: 7124 WILSON Mrs S E & Mr D J Eldarrah Song Of Fire And Ice, two years old and one who I thought was a very good stamp overall, upstanding, bigger type of bitch but with a very pleasing outline, correct coat, good bone and feet, strong topline, added maturity will benefit her I feel, moved soundly, RCC;

2nd: 7109 CUNNINGHAM Miss J Foulby Fidelma of Elvandar, I liked the type, size and overall ‘stamp’ of this feminine bitch, pleasing head, good eye, well-constructed overall and a sound, true mover in all directions, unfortunately, her coat is soft and rather lacking in ringlets which detracts from the overall picture;
