Welsh Kennel Club 2019 – Gundog Group Critique.

My heartfelt thanks to the Officers and Committee of The Welsh Kennel Club for the invitation to Judge my first Gundog Group. The welcome and hospitality I received was outstanding.

The Best in Show ring was a beautiful setting with the stunning flowers and the green carpet for the dogs to show on.

I selected nine dogs for my short cut, these included:

English Setter – Crimbledale Seaing Stars JW-

Lovely size and shape to this girl. Well balanced head with the best of eyes and such a soft expression. Super muscular condition which translated into effortless driving movement.

Gordon Setter – Sh Ch Ludstar Frederick Frankenstein (imp Italy) Substantial dog who has the air of nobility about him. Excellent tan markings in all the requisite places. Moved positively  and effortlessly around the ring .

Pointer – Kannix Pertunia at Stargang. . Lovely make & shape with a very feminine outlook but has the required strength & substance to complete the picture.  Moved soundly on a free & easy stride

Golden Retriever – Sh. Ch. Thornywait San Valentino JW Sh.CM.  Loved this young man for his balance, and appealing expression. Well muscled which gave fluid movement holding his topline throughout.

Spanish Water Dog – Zorrazo Can I Get A Woohoo. Feminine girl that oozes attitude. Lovely kind expression in a well balanced head.  True movement fore and aft.  Woolly texture to coat which was well presented.

Gundog Group 1 – Sh Ch. Feldkirk Dior to Kazval – Flatcoated Retriever. Super young lady that oozes breed type. A real showgirl with a very pretty well moulded head. Correct body shape with deep ribbing and strong loin. She looked a picture when stacked and held exactly the same shape and balance on the move.  A precise, confident mover covering the ground effortlessly with a lashing tail carried level with the back.

Group 2 – Sh Ch. Trimere Ticket Maid – English Springer Spaniel -This girl never stopped showing! She possesses a lovely head with fluting between the eyes that gives the softest of expressions. Balanced throughout.  In gleaming coat and so well presented. Her movement was positive and ground covering.

Group 3 – Sh Ch. Riverbrue Gloriana – Irish Setter - what a beautiful head this girl has – the kindest of eyes good chiselling and lovely raised eyebrows.  Great depth of chest & long sloping shoulders and powerful quarters. Shown in great condition. Moved fluidly on a lengthy stride and constantly lashing his tail.

Group 4 – Sh Ch Kimmax Kurious George – GWP - Super young boy beautifully balanced throughout. Handsome head with the kindest of eyes.  Noble in attitude.  Well presented harsh double coat.  So positive on the move showing great reach and drive.
