National Gundog 4th August 2019

Grateful thanks to the officers and committee of National Gundog for their invitation to Judge the well run show.

Most of the exhibits were of excellent quality, but I found a few incorrect bites and a number of overweight bitches, which adversely affected their movement.  Excessive trimming on some of the bitches detracted from their outline, a number of tails were carried high spoiling the overall outline of the dog.  

Veteran - Bitch

This girl caught my eye as she entered the ring, Most feminine of heads, with a gentle expression, straight front, good bone, good layback of shoulder , well sprung , deep through the heart ,level topline , correct tailset , well-muscled with a well-defined 2nd thigh moved straight and true. Reserve CC

2nd  GLOI PRINCESS GRACE (MRS CARRINGTON)  

Pleasing head a little throaty in profile, Straight front and Level topline, with good turn of stifle , moved out with decent front extension, well padded feet .

3rd  JOBEKA JUST A JEWEL AT DILWORTHEY (MS J BURROWS)

1st  MOLOKO AM I BOVVERED (MISS M NEIL)  

7 month , such balance for one so young,  straight in front , good bone , clean neck ,well place shoulders , level topline , short coupled,  carried her tail correctly on the move , steady level mover, good turn of stifle . Best Puppy Bitch, best puppy in breed with my co judge’s agreement

2nd  GRASSYARDS CALL ME MADAM ( MRS M & MISS A RICHMOND & FAIRBAIRN)  

Slighter in build than 1 , but balanced ,Pleasing head  and expression, good neck, on well set shoulders, good bone and feet, level topline and good tail carriage , moved out freely .

3rd  GOLMAS GOODNESS GRACIOUS (AI) (MESSRS B & M CATTERALL & JACKSON)  

Not as mature as 1& 2, but excelled with balanced angles front and rear, straight pasterns level topline, a little loose on the move, in good coat.

Puppy - Bitch

Overall a longer cast and slighter bitch, Pleasing head and expression, excellent reach of neck well set ears, good length of leg in proportion to body depth. Balanced fore & aft, straight front into well laid shoulders, well-padded cat like feet, level topline, held on the move. Covered the ring with purpose and drive.

Balanced bitch in coat and hard condition. Feminine in head, good reach of neck into well laid shoulders, upper arm of equal length placing her legs well under her body, straight front, close fitting elbows, Level topline and good tailset. Short coupled, Good turn of stifle, well developed 2nd thigh, moved out well with drive.

2nd  CAILLOCH JUNEAU (MR J & MRS L HAZELTON)  

Feminine bitch with balanced head, well set on neck, straight front with well laid back shoulders, level topline, good tailset, and good use of tail on the move.

3rd  PALTON UP UP AND AWAY (MRS A J E PRICE)  

Larger  in frame than 1 &2 , straight in front , level topline which held on the move

Special Beginners - Bitch

Good proportion of leg height to body depth with this bitch, pleasing head , good front construction,  level topline  held on the move , well developed 2nd thigh , not in best coat today , but that will change.

Feminine in head, level topline, Well-padded feet, straight pasterns , well let down in hock , well-muscled, moved out well

3rd  WYNRITA MISTI DAZE (MR J J TRAFFORD)  

Feminine head, dark eye,  Straight in front & rear, Short coupled, with level topline, moved ok

Yearling - Bitch

Three well constructed bitches , which bodes well for the continuation of the breed.

1st  GLITTERS RAINBOW OVER DRUMKILTY JW (IMP BEL) (MRS F M CLARKSON)  

A balanced chiselled head, well set on neck, which is of good length and clean in outline, excellent in pigment, good bone, straight in foreleg. Legs well placed under her short coupled body with plenty of heart room. Level topline, held on the move, excellent front extension.  

2nd  WILLOWLAWN ORIENT EXPRESS TO WHEATCROFT JW (MR G & MRS L KIPPS)

Longer in leg than one, but balanced in outline, deep well sprung ribs , presented in hard condition with well developed 2nd thigh , moved out with drive and confidence.

3rd  LINIRGOR MISTY MORNINGS AT STRATHLON JW (MRS L O'NEILL)  

Shorter in leg , but in proportion to body depth, deep through the heart , level topline , moved with good front extension , just lacking in momentum today .

Not as mature in development as 1, well made balanced bitch, with pleasing head, level topline , good bone , straight front , and straight  well let down hocks . Clean outline, moved out with good front extension.

 Feminine head Straight front lovely reach of neck into well laid back shoulders, lovely straight topline. Good bend of stifle and well let down hocks. Moved well straight and true.

Pretty Bitch , head well set on neck  into well placed laid shoulders , deep through the heart , level topline , in good hard condition , left her best dress at home today

Good bone, straight when viewed from front and back, In hard condition, with well-developed 2nd thigh, with good bend of stifle which allowed her to move out well

This bitch for me fulfils what I am looking for in a golden retriever bitch, Symmetrical, and balanced in outline. A balanced well chiselled head, gentle in expression, dark pigment, well set ears. Straight front with good bone, deep well sprung ribs, plenty of heart room.  Good length of neck leading into well laid shoulders, Level topline, with good tail carriage which she used on the move, presented in hard condition with a well-developed 2nd thigh, well turned stifle, Hocks straight and well let down , no exaggerations. Covered the ground with drive and confidence. CC and BOB on referee’s decision

2nd  CH DRUMKILTY HIBERNIA JW (MRS F M CLARKSON)  

 Pleasing feminine head, Front legs straight and elbows close fitting, excellent reach of neck, into well laid shoulders. Balanced angulation front and rear, well sprung ribs, deep through the heart, level topline ,  short coupled , correct tailset , good bend of stifle , hocks well let down and straight, Moved out with drive , just preferred the foot placement of 1st on the move .

3rd  DASMAKS GALADRIEL AT STRATHLON (MRS L O'NEILL)  

Lovely head and body proportions, good bone, balanced angles front and rear, good depth in body , well presented , moved out strongly.
