Breed: Spaniel (Sussex)

I thoroughly enjoyed judging the Sussex Spaniels today. There was quality in depth and as always great sportsmanship throughout. Thank you to all exhibitors for your entry I greatly appreciated the opportunity of assessing your dogs.

PD (1)

1st GRAHAM. Eald Dances With Wolves Among Nyliram. Very impressive puppy who I think has a very exciting future to look forward to. Excellent overall balance. True head with correct stop and frowning expression. Well set ears of good length. Strong slightly arched neck leading to well laid shoulders and good return of upper arm. Deep brisket with ribcage well back. Strong well made hindquarters with correct turn of stifle and good width of second thigh. His coat is of a good colour and texture. Moved well holding topline throughout. BP and delighted that he was placed 3rd in the puppy group.

1st HASTINGS. Bardings Bypolar Bear. Totally loved him. He is so laid back and a typical Sussex attitude to life. Well balanced all through with correct outline. His head is copybook with a pronounced stop and centre indentation. Lovely frowning expression. Scores in forehand construction. Deep, long rib cage leading to short loin. Well muscled hindquarters with correct bend of stifle. Excellent bone and feet. Correct coat colour and texture. Moved at correct pace covering the ground well. Another with an extremely bright future ahead - all he needs is time. Very worthy of his RCC.

2nd MERCER & THOMAS. Amur Iz Valley Wins At Stormacre (Imp Bel) NAF TAF A size bigger but still within the standard. Good head shape. Would like darker eye. Strong neck. Well laid shoulder. Good rib and loin proportions. Well made hindquarters although a little straighter in stifle than I would prefer. Moved OK but tended to pace at times.
