Bath Canine Society

Breed: Spaniel (Irish Water)

Although this was a numerically very small entry what it lacked in numbers more than made up for in quality. Thank you to everyone for your entry - and the very sporting way in which all my decisions were accepted.

1st BUSBY, Mrs R H & BUSBY Miss O F: Stanegate Leading Role At Zakby: He certainly had the leading role today. I thought this young dog absolutely stunning. Excellent overall balance. Typical head with high dome and good length of muzzle. Well arched neck leading seamlessly to correct lay of shoulder and corresponding return of upper arm. Well defined barrel ribcage which starts right behind the shoulder. Short loin. Slightly sloping croup with correct tailset. Long, well turned stifles with hock joint short and square to the ground. Excellent coat texture all through - dense ringlets with no woolliness. And then he moves - fore and aft he is totally true and when viewed in profile he demonstrates a long free stride and a clear roll from the ribcage. Shown on a loose lead, totally at one with his very able handler who got the best out of him. Over the years it has been my great privilege to judge many top quality dogs in this breed and in my opinion he is right up there with them. Delighted to award him his first CC, BOB and later to learn that he was shortlisted in the group. I am sure we will hear a lot more about him in the future!

Moved slightly close going away but good length of stride when viewed in profile. Coat a little woolly in places.

1st ANDREWS, Mr A & BLADES Ms A: Sh Ch Eldarrah Clash of Kings for Antdela. A very worthy title holder whom I last judged as a puppy. Excellent overall balance. Good head shape – maybe could have a fraction more strength in his foreface. Well made forequarters with correct depth and width of chest. Well barrelled ribcage and short loin. Powerful, well muscled hindquarters with hocks set low and square to the ground. Excellent coat texture. Good profile movement but slightly close going away and throwing front slightly coming in. Her rib cage is correct for her age with short loin. Well made hindquarters with well turned stifles and low hock set. Coat of good texture. Moved true fore and aft with good open side gait when viewed in profile. One to watch.
