Bath Canine Society

Breed: Large Munsterlander

I never fail to enjoy judging this breed. Overall today I felt that there was a good quality in depth in both sexes. A couple of observations. Firstly there were quite a number of exhibits that had the incorrect rib/loin proportions. The rib cage should be long and the loin should be short - not 50/50. A long loin goes hand in hand with a weak back. Secondly - stifles - some were very straight which adversely affected movement. Thank you to all exhibitors for your entry and the privilege of judging your dogs. It was as always a total pleasure and the sportsmanship displayed by all made for a lovely atmosphere throughout.

PD(1)

1st SIMPSON & JOHNSTON. Ekkolander Dark Madness At Leriton. Well balanced all through. A lot of maturing to do at the moment but very promising for the future. True head shape with good breadth of skull . A little upright in shoulder. Well ribbed back. Moderate bend of stifle. Strong hocks. Level topline. Moved well both fore and aft and in profile.

JD (5)

1st HUGGINS-DAVIS. Tralale Chunky Monkey month. I was very impressed with this young dog and considered him for higher honours. Well balanced all through. Excellent head and expression. Clean, slightly arched neck leading to well laid shoulder. Chest of good width and depth. Well ribbed back to short loin. Well made hindquarters with correct bend of stifle. Maintained topline throughout. Excellent bone and feet. Moved steadily on a good stride - his owner just needs to “go up” a gear as he needs to stride out more. However his other qualities won him the class.

2nd GRONOW. Cazooska Lilys Gin Fizz. Pleasing head and expression. Excellent shoulder placement. Good depth of chest. Well ribbed back. Little short in croup and would prefer a fraction more bend in stifle. Moved freely on a good stride.

3rd Ekkolander Dark Madness At Leriton

PGD (4)

1st LOVELACE. Crumpsbrook Rather Dashing. Good overall balance. Correct head shape and kind expression. Well laid shoulder with good depth of chest and well placed elbows. Short loin with moderate tuck up. Well made hindquarters. Moved well. Just tended to drop his topline at times.

2nd POWELL & MURRELL. Crumpsbrook Woodrush. Well balanced with good outline. Pleasing head and expression. Well laid shoulder and return of upper arm. Deep brisket. Slightly slopes off in croup. Movement erratic at times but good when settled. Good bone and feet.

3rd GREGORY. Jaudas Let It Rock

LD (3)

1st MILLER. Quilesta So Majestic Of Rockfest. I thought this dog was outstanding in every respect. He has a presence that commands attention. He looks powerful, yet not coarse in anyway. Excellent head - elongated, with good breadth of skull and strength of jaw. So well balanced all through. Strong, slightly arched neck leading to well laid shoulder and return of upper arm. Deep chest with elbows correctly placed. His ribcage is well sprung and carried right back to a short, strong loin and moderate tuck up. Strong, well muscled hindquarters with correct turn of stifle. Excellent bone and feet. Moved soundly with excellent open side gait. In excellent coat and condition. Presented and handled to advantage. Totally fit for purpose I could imagine him clearing a five bar gate with ease. Delighted to award him his first CC and BOB. Looking at his breeding I see 4 years ago I afforded his dam the same honour.

2nd MACGREGOR. Ekkolander Snowstorm. Well balanced all through. Good head and kind expression. Clean, slightly arched neck leading to well laid shoulder and return of upper arm. Slightly longer in loin than winner. Well made hindquarters. Good bone and feet. Moved soundly on good stride

3rd WEARE Mr P M & Mrs L A Kamaze Revolution

1st LLOYD & SMITH. Ch Crumpsbrook Bayleaf Von Rulander. Quality dog who is well balanced all through. Head of correct length and breadth with soft expression. Reasonable layback of shoulder. Deep brisket. Level topline. Strongly made hindquarters with well let down hocks. Excellent bone and feet. Moved well at one with handler.

2nd MACGREGOR’S. Sh Ch Jaudas Fame And Glory. Another worthy titleholder whose looks belie his years. Good overall balance. Correct head shape and kind expression. Not holding his topline as well as the winner. Good ribcage and short loin. Could have a fraction more width of second thigh. Excellent bone and feet. Moved well.

3rd DISNEY & WHITING. Sh Ch Wonglepong Will's Faramir
