Golden retriever dogs
A lovely entry with some quality dogs. However I feel there are too many dog with very short muzzles, a fault that affects their ‘fitness for function’ as they are required to pick up game and one or two would have had a job to pick a small hen pheasant, let alone anything bigger. All too often this was accompanied by an incorrect hard expression. Several dogs had good layback of shoulder, straight upper arms and were over angulated behind leading to a flashy dog so untypical of the breed. On the plus side I found almost no overweight dogs and length of leg is improving. There were, however, several with mouth faults and crooked teeth.

Another quality golden who excelled on the move. Liked his head and expression so typical of the breed. Has a level topline with good quarters and stifles well let down hocks which showed in his movement
3rd Johnson Mr M & Mrs H & Miss L DEVONIVY DIAMOND CUT BY NIALLGOLD
An old favourite of mine. I love his overall quality and balance, correct front angulation and hind angulation which showed in his long striding movement. Today I would have preferred him to carry a fraction less weight

This dog gradually relaxed and settled during the class and looked better and better as time went on!. Pleasing head and expression good length of neck with good shoulder placement, slightly longer than 1 and 2 but still full of quality. He has good bone and substance so necessary in a male.

Lovely young dog , so full of quality and so well balanced throughout. He is a very sound mover as his conformation would suggest, very nice head and expression correct length of muzzle, strong neck leading into well laid back shoulders, level topline, good turn of stifle. One to watch in the future. Delighted to award him first in 4 classes .Too immature for top honours today but feel sure his day will come
2nd Vernon Mr MP & Mrs DJ GRACELEIGH POPEYE
Another lovely quality dog, very masculine and has the most lovely outline. Beautifully presented and handled, excels in topline, quarters and turn of stifle, good bone .He is carrying the right amount of weight. Close up to 1 and won yearling as well

1st Vernon Mr MP & Mrs DJ GRACELEIGH POPEYE
2nd Pastusiak Miss K PRINCE CHARMING QDORE OF LABGOLD [ATC POL]
Quality dog who was shown to perfection, very animated and shown in lovely coat and condition. Very nice head and expression, Correct front angulation but he is slightly overangulated behind which spoiled his outline and cost him the class. Level top line and strong hindquarters
3rd McDonald Miss M LAMANCHA MAGICAL MOMENTS JW
This dog has a very nice outline and was beautifully presented and handled. He was one of many who needed a little more length of muzzle. He has a level top line, strong quarters and good bone and feet but stood and moved a little wide in front. He is full of quality and has enough substance for a dog
.
MAIDEN DOG (6 Entries, 2 Absent)
1st Birkin-Green Mrs S & Gripton Mrs H SANSUE KEEP THE MAGIC
2nd Walaszkowski-Caines Mrs MJ SOMERSETGOLD JONAGOLD
Very nice head and expression, very typical of the breed. He is short coupled and well balanced throughout. Good length of neck flowing into correct layback of shoulder and of the few with good upper arm. I would like to see a little more bone and substance for a male. Movement was good and he was very well presented and handled
3rd Joy Mrs M CHALEUR UNDERSTUDY FOR SHARDANELL (AI) (IMP AUST)
Standing and from a distance this dog looked lovely, super outline with excellent angulation both in front and behind. Sadly for me his head is not balanced being too short in muzzle and for me lacking the soft gentle expression which is one of the characteristics of the breed. He is still young and I hope he grows on a little. He was very well presented and handled and he moved soundly
NOVICE DOG (8 Entries, 2 Absent)
1st Birkin-Green Mrs S & Gripton Mrs H SANSUE KEEP THE MAGIC
2nd Keene Mr JC & Mrs EM SHINEHILL SNOW PATROL
On the move this dog looks really lovely from the side, good extension and a ground covering movement, but today was not moving well behind and was not standing with level top line at times, even though it was level on the move. I feel he may look better stood free rather than stacked. Vey nice head and expression and good front construction
3rd Joy Mrs M CHALEUR UNDERSTUDY FOR SHARDANELL (AI) (IMP AUST)

1st Giltsoff Mrs V ENDELLION SPINNAKER
This dog has so much quality. He has the most lovely head and expression, Liked his correct front angular and level top line. Good turn of stifle, correct amount of bone, straight front and a sound mover. I would like him slightly shorter coupled but a quality golden who deserved his win here today
2nd Jackson Mrs A MAVISTAN NEARCO AT SWANAVON
Another quality dog , pleasing out line and was shown in lovely coat and condition, Good bone and feet. Like so many today he needs a little more length of muzzle to balance his head. Lovely out line and a very true mover in front, behind and from the side
3rd Millington Mrs J CARNEVAL OF GOLDEN DUCK (IMP SRB)

Such a quality dog shown in excellent coat and condition, very balanced head with a soft expression, correct length of neck to balance his length of back and length of leg, Good front and hind angulation , deep body short coupled level top line. So balanced throughout and well constucted which enables him to move freely with a long stride. Handler tends to stand him a little wide in front which he isn’t. This dog says ‘golden retriever’I was pleased to award him his first CC. Reserve Best in show and best opposite sex in show
2nd Wedge Mrs L RIVERSCHARM MR MCGREGOR JW
Another favourite of mine and was close up to 1. Lovely head and soft expression, well balanced head with correct length of muzzle, long neck with good shoulder placement, level top line strong quarter which he used on the move. He is a sound mover and has lovely breed type. Today he was carrying a little bit of weight on his shoulders and which was a shame. Close up for the reserve CC
3rd Towers and Henderson ALIBREN GALILIEO TO WESTERVANE JW

1st Archibald Mr FP, Mrs E & Miss E SH CH/IR SH CH ABINVALE LEVANTO Won this class with ease. Good sized dog who is all male Very well balanced and constructed which showed in his movement which was accurate and more enthusiastic in the class than in the challenge. Very nice head with a soft expression shown and handled well.
2nd Sillence Mr R & Mrs M MEDHAMBRIDGE BARTLEY OF CANINA
Such a shame this dog was so out of coat as he looks immature beside the males in full coat. He has the most lovely head and expression and he moves very soundly which gave him his place today. He looked shallow in body due to total lack of coat but still has good spring of rib and is well ribbed back.
(3rd Johnson Mr M & Mrs H & Miss L DEVONIVY DIAMOND CUT BY NIALLGOLD
