GUILDFORD AND DISTRICT CANINE SOCIETY OPEN SHOW

Saturday 8th December 2018 Judge:

 WENDY KING (BYZTSAR)

 Breed: IRISH SETTERS

Thank you to the organisers for asking me to judge my breed today, and thank you to those who made the journey in the cold, pouring rain for bringing their dogs for me to judge.

 PUPPY 3

1 Kennedy-Sloane’s TWO ACRES DESTINY RBOB, BP, Puppy Group 3, RBOB Group 4.

Superb outline. Intelligent dark almond eyes set in a pretty head held poised on graceful neck. Good angulation, well balanced, lovely sloping topline to tail set. Good forechest construction, well laid back shoulder, strong loin and thighs, to good bend of stifle. This girl presented smooth lines of glossy elegance in purposeful movement. Sound construction of racy quality and substance. At just under 10 months still very much a youngster, look forward to seeing her set at full potential.

2 Harris’ BLAZING BRONZE HAPPY CLAPPY SINGS KONAKAKELA IMP.NLD,D 8 months

Well constructed in general, not joining the dots for me today. This young lad has a lot of growing to do and I felt he was having a ‘bad growing day’. At just 8 months will be interesting to see how he finishes.

 POST GRADUATE 5

1 Rorke’s ZAKHAN DEMELZA BOB, shortlisted in the Gundog Group 1 year 11 months

In the stack this 2 year old bitch stood out. Deep brown eyes of intelligence and spirit set in a fine eager head. Sloping topline not as smooth as RBOB. Good forechest construction, well toned muscle covering well laid back shoulder, loin and thighs. Lovely balance and angulation through to strong bend of stifle. Showed just enough movement promised in construction, this bitch has racy quality and substance, fit for purpose and function.

2 Elkins’ TWO ACRES PROMISE OF SPRING WITH AVACET 2 years 9 months

Again, in the stack this bitch presented well, all lovely angulation, balance and condition. Feminine head on elegant neck, smooth sloping topline to tail set. Well constructed in front and rear moved with purpose and quality. A shame she was unsettled today.

 OPEN 3 (1a)

1 Richardsons’ KIRKAVAGH HENANDO JW SHCM 8 years 4 months This boy clearly knows ‘what’s what’ in the show ring and seemed to enjoy this outing. Strong masculine head on matching frame maintained still by reasonable muscle tone. Showing good balance, well constructed forechest and hindquarters to thigh. Moved reasonably given the ring size.

2 Hall’s GLENNARA CILLEIGNE DERVLA JW 2 years 1 month Feminine head, deep brown eyes of correct shape and intelligence. Generally pretty of sound constructions, moved well. Felt her potential wasn’t with us today.
